Chapter 180
Amelia, what exactly happened to you during these three years? Can you really not remember anything at all?
With this thought, Matthew called Chris.
"Ask around for me. Find some experts who can help restore a person's memory! I don't care how much it costs!"
Chris yawned. He was used to Matthew calling in the middle of the night.
"Okay, I'll reach out tomorrow!"
Not long after Matthew hung up, the bathroom door opened, and Elise walked out wearing Amelia's pajamas. Matthew kept his eyes on his computer, not daring to look at her.
"Mr. Moore, your turn to shower!" Elise said softly.
Matthew looked up; his mind went blank for a moment. He hadn't seen Amelia's beautiful curves in three years!
"Amelia!" Matthew called out without thinking.
Elise's face flushed red as she quickly looked down.
"Mr. Moore, I'm Elise!"
Matthew snapped back to reality and apologized, "I'm sorry, for a moment I couldn't tell you apart from my wife!"
"Do I really look that much like your wife?" Elise stood in front of the vanity mirror, looking at herself.
Matthew wanted to say it wasn't that she looked like her—she WAS her!
But he swallowed those words. He needed to let Elise slowly accept and remember her true identity.
"I'm going to shower. You should sleep first!"
Matthew grabbed his pajamas and went into the bathroom.
By the time he finished showering and came out, Elise was already lying down, breathing evenly.
He couldn't control his feet and took two steps toward the bed. Elise suddenly turned over, facing away.
Matthew quickly stepped back, took out a blanket and comforter from the closet, and made a bed on the floor.
Elise lay on her side, feeling uneasy, worried that Matthew might take advantage of her.
But her worry was unnecessary. Matthew made no further moves, and she finally relaxed.
After sleeping for some time, Elise woke up. It was already 3 AM.
She got up to use the bathroom and noticed Matthew's blanket had fallen off. Looking at Matthew's handsome face with its sharp features, she felt a strange emotion stirring inside her. Her heart softened, and she walked over to gently cover him with the blanket.
"Amelia!" Matthew suddenly grabbed Elise's hand forcefully, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her.
Matthew's strength made it impossible for Elise to break free. Her lips were kissed hard by Matthew, leaving her unable to speak.
Matthew pressed Elise beneath him, his hands slipping under her pajama top, moving over her sensitive areas.
Elise frowned, confusion in her eyes.
Why did this feeling seem so familiar, so intense! She almost wanted Matthew to enter her body quickly, to become one with her.
"Amelia, do you want me on top or bottom?"
"It's been so long since we've enjoyed this!"
Matthew spoke in his sleep with his eyes closed.
No!
Before being completely controlled by primal urges, Elise bit Matthew's lip.
Matthew cried out and quickly released Elise.
Elise jumped up and straightened her disheveled clothes.
Matthew had opened his eyes now. He stared at Elise for a moment before coming to his senses. He licked the blood on his lip, feeling guilty and apologetic.
"Ms. Sinclair, just now I..."
Elise's heart was racing. She could have slapped Matthew and called him a creep! But strangely, Elise couldn't bring herself to be angry at Matthew.
"Mr. Moore, you just mistook me for your wife!"
Matthew said regretfully, "I'm so sorry. Why don't you slap me a couple of times!"
Elise shook her head, "That's not necessary! You just miss your wife too much!"
Matthew looked up at Elise, "Ms. Sinclair, have you ever wondered why you look so much like my wife?"
Elise smiled, joking, "Maybe your wife and I are twin sisters separated at birth!"
Matthew shook his head. Appearances could be identical, but that feeling of wanting to merge into one when kissing couldn't be the same.
The Elise before him was definitely Amelia!
"Have you ever considered that you yourself might actually be Amelia?"
Elise immediately looked incredulous, "How is that possible! My parents are in Zephyria, and I've always been in Zephyria. Your wife disappeared three years ago."
Matthew stared at her, "Your adoptive father, Parker, told you all this, right?"
Elise was startled, "How did you know? My father wouldn't lie to me. He has no reason to!"
"Is that so?" Matthew pulled at the corner of his mouth dismissively.
Elise's face showed displeasure.
"Mr. Moore, I'm helping you out of kindness. If you don't respect my father, our cooperation ends here!"
Matthew quickly stood up to stop Elise.
"Okay, I won't say anymore! For my grandfather's sake, please continue helping me with this lie!"
Elise said coldly, "I can keep helping you, but you can't mention again that I'm your wife, and don't disrespect my father!"
Matthew's eyes showed a trace of sadness and disappointment. "Fine, I promise!"
Elise went to the bathroom, then got back under the covers to sleep.
But Matthew tossed and turned, unable to sleep. It seemed approaching Elise directly wouldn't work. He'd have to work through the Lawson family!
Parker said he'd come to Emerald City in a few weeks. Matthew would figure out a way then to discover how exactly Amelia became Elise!
The next morning, Matthew ate breakfast at the table with Elise and Luna. Matthew and Elise didn't speak because of last night's awkwardness.
Luna, who had wronged Amelia before and now wanted to make up for it, suggested to Elise, "Amelia, after breakfast, let me take you shopping. I want to give you a gift!"
Luna gave Matthew a look.
"Matthew, I was so wrong to Amelia before. Give me a chance to make it up, okay?"
Matthew glanced at Elise and said quietly, "You have to ask Amelia!"
Luna quickly clasped her hands together, saying sincerely, "Amelia, let's go together, please?"
Elise had planned to meet with other business partners today to prepare for the Lawson Group's full move to Emerald City, but seeing Luna so earnest, she had to agree.
"I'll go with you for a bit in the morning, but I won't have time in the afternoon. I need to go back to the office!"
"Office?" Luna was surprised. "Amelia, when did you join the Moore Group?"
Matthew quickly explained, "Amelia started her own company during these three years. Now she's working on moving the whole company back to Emerald City!"
"I see!" Luna smiled. "You should just hand the company over to Matthew to manage. You're husband and wife anyway. Why separate things! The Moore Group is Amelia's, and what's Amelia's is the Moore Group's!"
Elise just smiled without responding.
After breakfast, Luna drove with Elise to the mall.
At a jewelry store, Luna spent a hundred thousand dollars on a bracelet.
"Amelia, do you like it?" Luna wanted to help Elise put it on.
Elise quickly declined politely, "This is too expensive, I can't accept it!"
Luna insisted, "We're family! Put it on!"
Just then, Mia walked in from outside and scolded loudly, "Elise, have you no shame? You really think you're Amelia? Have you no shame at all?"
Elise's face darkened as she considered how to respond.
Luna stepped in front of Elise and mocked, "Mia, who has no shame? You know better than anyone! Matthew doesn't want you, yet you shamelessly stay at the villa! There's no woman more shameless than you in this world!"
"If you insult Amelia again, don't blame me for hitting you!"
