CHAPTER NINETY FIVE - ROSALIE
CHAPTER NINETY FIVE - ROSALIE
I’ve wrapped a robe around myself, but I still feel their hands on me. Cain keeps glancing at me like he’s afraid I might just jump him while Aeron walks ahead of us.
He pauses at the door. Only a few down from my room. And he turns. His eyes practically glowing as he watches us both walking up to him. Cain is walking gingerly. Like his body isn’t as healed as he thought. I take his hand, squeezing it, and trying not to let my mind flashback to the vision of him laying bloodied on the ground.
We stop in front of Aeron. He tells us to close our eyes and I do, though reluctantly. The door creaks just a tiny bit as he opens it. He takes my hand, leading me inside. I can feel the soft plush of the carpet. I bite my lip trying to prevent myself from saying something stupid. I Cn feel Cain beside me. Aeron is leading us both further into this room and then we stop.
“Open your eyes.” He says.
I don’t hesitate. My eyes snap open and I meet his first before looking around.
It’s a nursery. He’s redecorated this entire room as one. The walls are off-white. There’s a mural on the one to the left with a woodland scene that’s so beautiful it makes my eyes well. There’s soft toys and cushions on display shelves, and by the fireplace is a rug and a couch that looks so big and so comforting. We could literally all lay out on here, dozing with our pups if we chose.
I can feel his eyes on me, watching my reaction.
“Aeron.” I murmur, walking up to the two intricately carved cots, running my hand along the polished wood.
“I built them myself.” He says, putting his hands on my shoulders.
I turn, looking up at him. “It’s beautiful. This whole room is beautiful.”
“It’s incredible.” Cain says.
“How long has this taken you?” I ask.
Aeron shrugs. “I had to do something to occupy my time while you two were resting and it felt good to surprise you.”
“Thank you.” I murmur leaning into him, hugging him tightly and he kisses my head.
Cain walks up to us and the three of us stand there, holding each other for a while.
And then I hear it, the annoying growl that tells me Aeron is being called. That he’s needed.
“What is it?” I ask quietly.
He shakes his head. “Nothing for you to worry about.”
“I’m Luna of this Pack.” I state and both he and Cain seem to react to that.
Aeron lets out a low breath of air. “Fine.” He says. “The Council is here. As is Alpha Juan. We’re working out a new treaty. New boundaries too, now that the Crimson Shadow Pack is no more.”
I gulp nodding. “Do you not need Cain there?”
Cain kisses the side of my head. “Are you worried I’m being forgotten, Little Dove?”
“No but…”
Aeron kisses me silencing the words on my lips. “If you’d like to attend you can.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Really?”
“You’re Luna of this Pack.” He says smirking as he repeats my words back at me.
“Okay, but give me a moment to get changed.” I half breathe before rushing from the room before he can even reply.
I don’t even know where this necessity comes from, but I want to prove to everyone that I’m not just a thing to be fought over. That there’s more to me than just my breeding abilities.
I pull on some underwear and then a t shirt dress and trainers before rushing back into the corridor. My mates are stood clearly having some conversation in their head but as they look at me they both smile.
“You’re coming too?” I say to Cain, noticing that he’s somehow now dressed and presentable.
“Yes, Rosalie.” He replies.
“The three of us are going. As a family.” Aeron says holding his hand for me to take.
“A family.” I reply grasping it before wrapping my spare into Cain’s hand.
The three of us walk down the Residence together. Taking it slowly for Cain’s sake.
As we pass a gilded mirror I catch a glimpse of myself and freeze. Taking my hands from theirs I place them on my belly, on where I’m starting to show to everyone what’s obviously inside me.
“I’m showing.” I whisper it as if I need to confirm it to myself.
“You look beautiful.” Cain murmurs placing a hand over mine.
Aeron does the same so we’re stood staring at our reflection all holding my stomach. I lean back into them, feeling the heat of their bodies, the comfort of them too.
Someone clears their throat. We turn in unison and Alpha Juan is there, stood at the end of the corridor eyeing the three of us.
“They’re waiting.” He says before jerking his head like this is his house and not ours.
I narrow my eyes. Something inside me flaring at that as if it were an insult. Maybe it’s because I keep banding the ‘Luna’ title about but today I want everyone in that room to stop treating me like an afterthought in all this. Like I’m just a mere human and my opinions don’t matter.
Cain squeezes my hand and Aeron fixes me with a look that says it all.
“You want me to be obedient again?” I say.
He smirks. “Not today, Pet. I want them all to see what a feisty creature you really are.”
My cheeks heat. My body flushes and it takes all my control not to jump on him as we make our way down to where God knows how many people are waiting for us.
