Chapter 339 Who to Blame?

Chapter 339 Who to Blame?
ADRIANA

“Get me the detective on the phone.”

I didn't know how much of what I was seeing here was reliable. At this point, I didn't even care what time.it was. Everybody was going to be awake.

She put the phone on speaker when he picked up.

“Detective, sorry for calling so late. It says here that you found a pregnancy test packet on the kitchen island. Did you ever see the pregnancy test itself?”

His voice was groggy.
“No, my Queen. We searched everywhere, even the bin but we never found it. We figured that she must have disposed of it. Since we were going with the theory that she was cheating on her husband, we figured that she disposed of it so he wouldn't find out. We thought that he had seen the pregnancy test and that's what made him kill her.”

Well, that was far from the truth. I needed to see Tim.

“Let me know if you find anything new.”

If Lucy had taken a pregnancy test that day, why was it missing?.

“Sandy, you said you called her but you ended the call.”

“I did, someone walked in and I had to attend to them. I didn't want them to hear what I had to say.”

“Who? Who walked in?”

“Alisha.”

You have got to be kidding me. That name just kept popping up in every place that it wasn't supposed to be.

Hazel finally took a seat.

“So let me get this straight. She walked in and you ended the call. Did she say anything to you? Are you sure she didn't hear any of what you said?”

She nodded.
“She didn't. She only asked where Mrs Lucy was and I told her to get lost because I knew they weren't friends anymore. She said she was going to report me to Mrs Lucy and I'll be fired. She stormed out after that. After she left, that's when I texted Mrs Lucy. There's no way she would have known what I was going to say to her.”

For some reason, I didn't think that Alisha had no idea of what was going on.

“Earlier, you said that you couldn't go to the cabin because you had to attend to clients. That means you left your desk. Are you sure Alisha left the building?”

That question was one she couldn't answer.

“I can't say for sure if she left the building but I saw her leave my office. My computer at work doesn't have a password because Mrs Lucy uses it sometimes. Do you think she came back to look through it?”

That was exactly what I was thinking.

“I did tell her that I was on the phone with Mrs Lucy when she threatened me. My phone is connected to my computer. Gosh, how could I have been so stupid?”

Sandy was not to blame.

“Sandy, this isn't your fault. I mean, you wouldn't have known at all. That's the only way Alisha would have known that she was at the cabin. I'm guessing she went there after that.”

If Alisha had seen that she was at the cabin…that meant she had also seen that Lucy was pregnant.

It was like Hazel read my mind.

“She knew about the baby. If she was jealous of Lucy's marriage, I think the baby would have been another trigger. But what I don't understand is where Tobias comes in.”

That was something I didn't understand too. What was the connection between the three of them?

Tobias hadn't said anything about knowing Alisha. I knew his connection to Lucy. Had I done the right thing in putting him in charge of finding Alisha's hideout?

There was a reason Alisha had Tobias' picture. I was very sure of it.

“Pregnancy tests don't just disappear. Hazel, tell Tobias to see me in the morning. Sandy, thank you for coming in. I must inform you though that earlier yesterday, Alisha's car was found at the bottom of a cliff engulfed in flames.”

From her reaction, I'm guessing I could tell that she had nothing to do with it.

“Oh, what happened? Is she okay?”

I shook my head..
“We think it's an accident.”

“I mean, I can't pretend and say that I liked her but I would never wish for her to die a horrible death.”

I mean…she was right.

“Get some sleep. The guards will show you to your room.”

As the guards led her out of the room, Hazel turned back to me.

“Is Tobias officially on the list of suspects again?”

I nodded.
“I don't suspect him of killing Lucy. But I think there's more to his relationship with Alisha. But I wonder why he didn't tell us.”

“Maybe he has something to hide.”

Of course, he has something to hide. Or else, he wouldn't have left that part out.

“What do you want to do now?”

“I need to see Tim first and then, I'll see Tobias in the morning. I can't speak to him over the phone and I can't ask him to come here. Get me the phone record for Alisha. Better yet, find her phone.”

That would even be a better option but then with the fact that we were still trying to find out where the hell she was hiding, we have no idea.

“I'm going to bed. I don't know what you're on that makes you think you can keep going for hours unending but I can't do it. I don’t even want to. I want sleep and I need sleep and I'm going to get it. Goodnight. I'll see you in the morning.”

I didn't even say anything because I knew that Hazel had done a lot for me in the past few weeks.

She had been the one going around with me and helping me through everything or else, it would have been too much for me and I had to be grateful for that much.

Since I was awake, I might as well cross seeing Tim off my list.
