Chapter 58 I'd burn it all down
Fernanda stayed up all night, forging and writing down words for the letter they plan to send to Damon. Sebastian also didn't sleep. He kept coming up with different alternative to Fernanda's idea even though they both knew that hers was the best.
Fernanda could feel the tension in the tent as he quietly paced back and forth. "You need to relax, Sebastian. It's not like I'm actually going to meet him." She stated with a small sigh. "Even so... I just want a plan that doesn't include you or puts you in any kind of danger," Sebastian said, striding towards where she sat.
Fernanda stood up as he came, "Every plan will one way or the other always involve me. No matter how much you try to avoid it. I'm the key reason for everything that is going on right now." She told him.
"I told you not to put the blame on yourself anymore."
Fernanda shook her head, before hesitantly taking Sebastian's hands in hers. "I know you don't want me to feel bad for everything happening. But let's face it Sebastian, I am the reason." Sebastian heaved a sigh out of frustration but Fernanda only held his hands tighter.
"I can acknowledge that without feeling bad, infact right now I don't feel sad. All I feel is responsibility, for everyone. For every decision made, I must bear it."
"Fernanda as long as I'm alive, I would not let you bear an ounce of responsibility for the decisions of mad people. Including mine." Sebastian's tone was rough with intention. He meant every single word that came out of his mouth and Fernanda could see that all too clearly. Her throat tightened as she struggled not to show any emotion.
"If I were to choose between you and the world... Fernanda I'd burn it all down. To ashes, with no one left to tell tales of the ruins." Sebastian said it like it was an oath. Actually, to him it was an oath. He gently wiped off the little tears that now escaped from her round eyes.
Fernanda tiptoed and gave him a featherlight kiss on the cheek, caressing the other side of his face. Sebastian wanted to grabbed her at that moment and claim her lips with his, but he had to restrain himself.
"The reason why I feel so safe is because I know you are going to protect me. I trust you to protect me. Now I'm asking you to put your trust in me too and let me do this. Please." She whispered softly, staring at him deeply in the eyes.
Sebastian pulled her closer and rested his forehead against hers, taking in a deep breath as he considered her suggestion. "Alright." He muttered, kissing her forehead. "I'll let you do this." Fernanda sighed in relief. Sebastian was glad she trusted him now and Fernanda on the other hand was relieved that Sebastian won't do anything to sabotage the plan just because he thinks it might endanger her.
Not wanting to distract her any further from what she was doing, Sebastian decided to give her space. When he left, Fernanda continued to write the letter. She told Damon that she was ready to use her powers to destroy the Lycans, she suggested that she would meet Damon at a location Levi had suggested as part of their trap, only if he brings Maya there with him.
The corners of her lips lifted into a smile as she continued writing. She was confident that the plan would work. Of course she wasn't going to show up, but as soon as Damon appears with Maya, the Lycans will attack and hopefully Maya gets rescued through it all.
The plan had to work, it was a good one.
Fernanda was satisfied with herself after she was done writing, she went through the letter over and over again to see if she had forgotten to include anything. Now all that was left was how they were going to the letter to the black seal.
Fernanda handed the letter to Levi who took it, opened and read it with a stoic expression. "How is it?" She asked, hoping he would give a positive response. "This is enough to keep the bastard hopeful and come running right into our trap." Levi simply said.
"Since we are just a few kilometers from the border of Vosnos kingdom, we'll send an owl to deliver the letter to the black seal. Soon enough, it would reach Damon."
"I hope he takes the bait." Fernanda muttered, her heart racing faster than usual. "Don't worry your highness, the bastard surely will."
Maya clutched her stomach tight, her cramps had become severe to the point of shivering. It didn't help that the cell was cold and hard, "No, not now!" She gritted her teeth as she thought of ways to numb her pain.
She looked down and let out a sob when she saw how messed up her clothes already were. "I can't do this anymore, just take me moon goddess. I think I've served my purpose already." Maya cried. She felt so filthy.
She then heard some footsteps coming, "Enjoying your time in there?" Sloane's voice came through. Both she and Maya were really close before everything went downhills. They were friends. Seeing Maya suffer all these while didn't sit right with her but she just had to look away and perform her duty.
Sloane never understood why Maya turned on the order, she hated seeing her friend suffer for the Lycans who wouldn't even come looking her. "Why are you doing this to yourself?" Sloane said, her tone filled with pity for Maya.
"These people do not care about you, they only care about their Queen. They won't come back for you. I really hate to see you suffer yourself unnecessarily Eira. Come back to us, it's not too late." She pleaded with a whisper.
Maya didn't respond.
"Eira? You can't ignore me like this, I'm trying to help." Sloane said, but still no response. It was at that moment Sloane knew something was wrong, Maya would have said something. Even if it was against whatever Sloane was telling her.
She just laid there unmoving. Way too still to be just a slumber. "Eira?! What's wrong, speak to me. Eira!" Sloane's voice was now raised. She Immediately unlocked the cell and rushed towards her.
Maya had passed out from continuous loss of blood. She was pale, cold and frail. Amidst her blackout, she could hear Sloane shouting in her face and yelling for help. "Eira please! Stay with me!"
