Chapter 25
It had been quite a hard one but Claire eventually suceeded in getting the information out of crybaby Amy. The context of this information was clear but not crystal clear to Claire.
First of all, Claire couldn't remember where the dining hall was. In fact, she didn't belong in that mansion so how would she know where things belonged there in that mansion. This was one of the reasons but the least of them all. The reason why it was the least was because Amy or Charlotte could easily take Claire there.
Secondly, the place wasn't familiar at all so she wasn't going to know if they ate the same sort of food she loved. Claire could still remember some foods. This made her begin to think differently. If her memory was truly washed off or she lost her memory, how was she able to remember certain things? How could she tell the kind of foods she enjoyed? Well, this might be an act of nature.
But what if…
What if she really didn't lose her memory. What if her memory was still intact. But even at that, it seemed to strange for Claire to fathom.
Claire couldn't think about this now. All these were little reasons. She had not thought about the third one which was also the main one.
Now, she was going to meet the Alpha who was supposedly her lover. The sad part about this was that she didn't know who it was.
Or wait!
Claire actually knew who the person it was. She could remember his facial features to a point. However, she knew nothing else about him. She didn't know his character or behaviors.
Or wait!
Claire could tell some of his behaviors. She was there when he punished the high doctor. This encounter was striking and it was one which Claire was going to remember. With this meeting, Claire could tell some behaviors of the Alpha.
But still…
How was Claire going to understand how they used to act when with each other? How would she know how they addressed each other?
Claire couldn't tell! She had to do something about it urgently.
And that was it!
Claire decided to keep her cool and be herself. She was going to act normally just like her instincts led. Claire would act how she liked and who knows, she might get that part right.
And if she didn't get it right, she would come clean with him and let him know that she couldn't remember a thing about the life she led before.
"Let's go!" Claire told Amy. She moved ahead now.
As Claire moved ahead, she couldn't help but think. This whole thing felt like acting to Claire. She felt like she was forging this role. The role didn't seem to fit her. It was like she was trying to act like someone else.
All these thoughts weighed Claire's heart down. She was afraid things would turn out baldy.
But no qualms! Claire was going to hack it back together. She was going to do her best!
Just as Claire was about to open the door, she heard a familiar voice call her back. It was Charlotte's voice.
"Wait, Luna!" Charlotte cried. Claire heard this and turned back. She gazed at the worried Charlotte.
"Actually, I don't think you can leave now, Luna…" Charlotte said slowly. She was trying her best to sound good for Claire.
"What is the matter? Why can't I leave right now?" Claire wanted to know. She was shocked by the statement which Charlotte was standing by. However, Claire kept her cool. She wanted to listen to the whole story before taking any action.
Charlotte seemed quite shy. She was probably thinking of the best way to convey the message from my heart.
"I guess Amy haven't noticed. She wouldn't let you leave if she have noticed…" Charlotte said slowly.
"What do you mean?" Claire asked. "Can you make your message clearer? I don't seem to understand your point. Just talk directly! I am tired of arguing. I wanna go have breakfast with the Alpha!"
"I will cut it short, Luna…" Charlotte began. "Forgive me if I didn't deliver this message well but you see, you are just waking up. You need to take a bath, brush you teeth, dress up beautifully, and look good before you go to the dining hall to have breakfast. I am sure you will love to have a seductive look before you go see the Alpha this morning. Don't you think so?"
Claire was surprised upon hearing this. It shocked her to the bone marrow to discover that she had just woken up and she had to truly take care of her body before going to eat. All thanks to Charlotte. If Charlotte had not mentioned this, Claire might have embarrassed herself in the presence of the Alpha and other servants who saw her in her nightgown.
Yes, Claire was still in her nightgown!
"Jeez! I can't believe this!" Claire screamed. "Thanks for saving my ass, Charlotte. You are indeed a nice lady! I guess I will have to decline the Alpha's request this morning. I can't go get breakfast like this."
Charlotte smiled back at Claire. Now, Claire confirmed that Charlotte truly had a nice dentition. Her teeth were pure white.
"Thanks for the appreciation, Luna, but you don't have to. I am your personal maid and it's my duty to see to your everyday living. If you got embarrassed out there, it would all be on me as it would be classified as negligence of duty. I am supposed to be the one thanking you for letting me speak…" Charlotte said. She sounded quite excited while saying this.
"It's nothing!" Claire replied. She smiled back at Charlotte now. Amy was the only one looking still sad among the lot.
"Also…" Charlotte began to say again. "I guess you know this already but you won't have to miss the breakfast. It's still early and this was just a reminder."
"A reminder?" Claire asked. "But I was already leaving. Doesn't that mean that the Alpha is already seated and that he is only waiting for me?"
"Oh! That's not it, Luna…" Amy finally interrupted.
"You mean I'm wrong?" Claire asked slowly.
