Chapter 153

Chapter 153
Third Person POV

Jason slammed through the gates of his territory, the survivors of his failed attack trailing behind him like shadows. His boots struck the dirt with heavy, impatient thuds, and the tension radiating off him was almost visible. Every muscle in his body was coiled, ready to explode.

Sheila stepped forward, forcing a calm smile onto her face.

“Jason… welcome back,” she said, trying to soften the sharp edges of his anger. Her voice wavered slightly, betraying the fear she had been keeping in check.

Jason whirled on her, his eyes flashing.

“Don’t!” he barked, the sound cutting through the air like a whip. “Your mystical tricks, your reinforcements… they didn’t work. Not even close!” His fists clenched, knuckles whitening, and the low growl that escaped his throat made the pack instinctively step back.

The survivors shuffled behind him, eyes wide and anxious. They could feel the weight of failure pressing down, heavier than any physical blow. Sweat mingled with the sharp scent of blood still clinging to their uniforms, and the cool night air did little to mask it. Jason’s presence dominated the space, each step radiating frustration and raw energy.

Sheila’s hands twitched at her sides, uncertainty flickering across her face.

“I—I thought the enhancements would…” she began, her words catching as Jason’s glare cut through her explanation. The floor seemed to vibrate under his wrath, and even the wolves lowered their heads in cautious deference.

Jason’s voice dropped, cold and precise.

“Phina is… beyond anything we expected. Beyond your help. Do you understand?” His words carried not just anger but disbelief, as if the reality of her strength refused to settle in his mind.

The pack members exchanged nervous glances, the murmurs of unease blending with the growls of wolves in the background. Every breath they took was thick with tension, and the air seemed heavier with anticipation. Jason’s chest rose and fell rapidly, and the faint metallic scent of anger and blood mingled in the space around him.

Sheila took a step back, swallowing hard as she realized just how dangerous the situation had become. Phina’s strength wasn’t just a setback—it was a threat that could unravel everything Jason had tried to control.

Jason turned his back to the group, pacing like a predator trapped in a cage, fists still clenching. His sharp gaze lingered on Sheila for a moment before he muttered under his breath,

“She made a mockery of all the alphas…”

The words were a promise and a warning, setting the stage for the fury to come.

Sheila’s eyes widened as she stepped closer, her voice trembling as she recounted what had happened on the battlefield.

“Jason… she—Phina—she threw you into a branch with her mind, and then she healed Phina… and the others,” she said, struggling to keep her composure. The words hung heavy in the air, each one striking like a blow.

Jason’s jaw tightened, fists clenching as a low growl escaped him.

“She… what?” he demanded, disbelief and fury mixing in a dangerous cocktail. His eyes darted to the survivors who had returned with him, but they lowered their heads, unwilling to meet the storm in his gaze.

Sheila swallowed hard, feeling the weight of Jason’s anger press against her.

“I—I saw it with my own eyes. She… she’s stronger than anything we’ve faced. Her powers… they’re beyond what we could even anticipate.” Her voice shook, and the flickering torchlight made shadows dance across her face, emphasizing her fear.

Jason paced the floor, his boots scraping against the stone, each step echoing through the room.

“Stronger?” he spat, voice sharp. “Do you realize what that means? Everything we planned—everything I controlled—it’s worthless!” He slammed a hand against the table, making the torches sway and throwing the pack members into tense silence.

The howl of a distant wolf cut through the night, but even that seemed subdued in the oppressive tension Jason radiated. He could feel the imbalance in power like a physical weight pressing down on him.

Sheila took a careful step back, her heart racing as she tried to steady herself.

“It’s… it’s not just about the men she hurt, Jason. She’s changed the rules. We underestimated her, and now…” Her words trailed off as Jason’s glare bore into her, sharp and unforgiving.

Jason’s fists unclenched, but his knuckles remained white. His voice was low, almost a growl, as he muttered,

“She humiliated me… and no one else will fix this.”

The frustration in him was raw, a storm barely contained, as his mind circled back repeatedly to Phina’s power.

Sheila’s lips parted as she realized the only path left, her voice quiet but resolute.

“We have only one option left… we capture her. Somehow… we strip her of her powers.”

The weight of her words fell over the room, and Jason’s eyes lit with a dangerous spark, the tension between them thick enough to taste.

Sheila leaned close to Jason, her voice low and careful as she outlined the grim reality.

“Jason, we have no other choice,” she said, her eyes flicking to the tense faces around her. “We capture Phina and find a way to strip her of her powers.”

Jason’s jaw tightened, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he processed her words. His hands fidgeted with the edge of the table, tapping a rapid rhythm that echoed through the silent room.

“Strip her powers?” he echoed, a growl threading through his tone. “Do you know what that means? She’ll fight every step of the way.”

Sheila nodded, her voice calm despite the fear coiling in her chest.

“I do. It won’t be easy. It will take time, careful planning… patience. But if we act wisely, it’s our only shot.”

The torches flickered between them, casting moving shadows that stretched across the stone walls like a silent warning. Jason’s eyes narrowed, a mix of eagerness and impatience battling within him.

He paced the room, boots scraping against the floor, while the pack members kept a tense distance. Every instinct in him screamed to act immediately, yet Sheila’s words reminded him that haste could destroy everything.

The air in the room felt thick, almost tangible, heavy with anticipation. Cloaks rustled as the pack shifted uneasily, the subtle metallic scent of weapons mixing with the cold stone and smoke. Even the faint murmur of distant wolves outside seemed muted, as if the world itself held its breath in the waiting.

Sheila continued, her tone deliberate,

“We need to observe her patterns, understand the limits of her power, and strike when she least expects it.” She met Jason’s eyes, seeing the hunger for revenge mirrored there. “If we’re clever, she won’t see us coming until it’s too late.”

Jason stopped pacing and turned sharply, his mind already running through the possibilities.

“Time or no time, I’ll make her pay for this. And for Phina… for everything.” His voice was low, dangerous, but calculated, the calm before the storm.

The pack held their collective breath, knowing the words were not empty threats. Jason’s gaze lingered on the shadows, imagining the confrontation that would come, already strategizing every move, every trap.

Sheila stepped back slightly, her eyes scanning the room.

“It won’t happen overnight. We prepare, we wait, and when the moment is right… we act.”

Jason’s lips curled into a cruel, determined smile.

“Then we begin.”
