Chapter 289 Creating a God
Chapter 289 Creating a God
Ella's POV
My heart clenched suddenly. I felt like I understood, yet I was too afraid to fully grasp it.
The continuation of my life, the embodiment of my love with Mason, was just a newly formed life. It hadn't even seen the light and darkness of this world yet. It should have grown up in a place filled with sunshine and laughter, not burdened with such a heavy shackle from the very beginning, becoming a sacrifice coveted by a demon.
Just as I was about to be swallowed by this sudden wave of fear, a pair of strong arms wrapped around me from behind.
Mason pulled me into his embrace. He didn't say a word, but his chin rested gently on the top of my head. One of his large hands covered mine, which was protectively placed over my belly, enveloping my hand with his undeniable strength.
"Mason," Owen looked at the man behind me with a complex expression, "your bloodline, the Alpha bloodline of the Silverblade Pack, is recognized as one of the most aggressive and dominant in the werewolf world. When this 'key' combines with this perfect 'vessel' through the merging of bloodlines, the child born..."
He paused, and the entire stone chamber fell into a deathly silence.
"That child will not just be an heir; they will become a living 'source of power.' A walking miracle, or perhaps a disaster. Their power will far surpass yours, Mason's, and possibly anything we can comprehend."
A miracle, a disaster.
My mind went blank. I couldn't imagine that this tiny life inside me was being given such a heavy and terrifying definition.
"That witch," Owen's voice was filled with deep dread, "she's been planning for centuries. Her ultimate goal was never just to control a few Alphas or dismantle the werewolf world. Those were merely steps in her grand scheme. Her ultimate goal is to 'create a god.'"
"She has been searching for the descendants of the Nachtsonne Pack, looking for the perfect 'vessel.' At the same time, she has been forging 'Fated Mate' bonds to place her pawns beside the strongest Alphas, hoping to facilitate this bloodline combination and 'produce' a controllable 'god' for herself."
"Ella, your appearance disrupted all her plans. By conceiving this child, you have prematurely realized her 'god-making plan' in a way completely beyond her control."
I understood. I finally understood.
We weren't just passively enduring a disaster; we were the biggest variable and failure in the witch's plan. Our child's existence wasn't the beginning of a conspiracy; it was the most fatal blow to that conspiracy.
But this blow also made us, especially our unborn child, the target the witch would stop at nothing to obtain.
She no longer needed to steal power from me through complex rituals; she just needed my child to gain a far more perfect 'source of power' than she ever imagined.
"Did my mom... did she know about this?" I asked, my voice dry. I remembered the struggle and pain in my mom's letter, where she said she regretted giving birth to me.
Owen's face showed a look of sorrow.
"She knew part of it. She knew that combining the Nachtsonne Pack's bloodline with a powerful Alpha's would create an extremely special being. She was scared, terrified. So she fled the tribe and chose a gentle Alpha with a less dominant bloodline, our father. She thought this would dilute the bloodline and allow her child, you, to live a normal, peaceful life. She spent her entire life suppressing her power, pretending to be an ordinary werewolf, just to avoid being discovered."
"She didn't regret giving birth to you, Ella," Owen looked at me with infinite tenderness, "she regretted not being able to give you a truly safe world. Deep down, she was constantly tormented by this secret. She feared that one day, you would fall in love with a powerful Alpha and repeat the fate she dreaded."
Tears silently slid down my cheeks. This time, not out of fear, but for my mom.
That gentle and great woman, who used her entire life to weave a fragile yet beautiful dream for me.
She bore a secret that could crush the world, struggling in despair, just so I could have the right to love and be loved like an ordinary girl.
And in the end, I fell in love with Mason, one of the most powerful Alphas in the world.
I ultimately walked the path she feared the most.
But I wouldn't back down.
I raised my hand, pressing Mason's hand more firmly against my belly.
"So, what do we do now?" I looked up, meeting Mason's gaze. I knew he already had an answer.
Mason turned his gaze to Owen and spoke, "Since the witch knows about the child, she'll act soon. The Silverblade Pack is strong, but staying on the defensive will only isolate us."
"What do you mean?" Owen asked.
"Take the initiative," Mason's response was concise and powerful. "Instead of waiting for her to come to us, we go to her."
His eyes shifted to the ancient map on the stone table, focusing on the black crescent moon symbol surrounded by ice crystals.
"Nachtsonne Pack," Mason said slowly, "Ella's mom came from there. There must be answers we need. We have to go."
To the place marked as "unknown" and "land of mist" on the map? To my mom's homeland, which she fled from?
The thought made me feel a strange tension, but it was followed by a sense of destiny. As if all the answers I was missing were there. About my mom, my bloodline, and how to protect my child.
"It's too dangerous," Owen immediately objected. "No one knows the current situation there. Plus, the environment is harsh and full of unknown dangers. Ella is pregnant; it's not suitable for her to travel long distances to such a place."
