Chapter 11 Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Chapter 11
Chapter 11

\- Natasha -

Because of my relationship with Alpha Jason, I had the privilege to dine with him. I wouldn't call it that, though, because I am in all ways deserving.

After all, Jason does not accord things without merit, except in this lone case of the pregnant refugee.

I have always sat at the table with Jason and his family, even when his parents, the former Alpha and Luna, were alive. I have been here even before he got married to Elena—breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It did not change anything, I ate with him and his new wife and there were no issues

I was not just a friend to Jason. He'd say I was family. He always listened to me but I am beginning to smell foul.

I could not understand the decision he had made with Aria, and it seemed he was bent on it.

If Aria does not take my counsel and leave as soon as she can, I will make sure her stay here is more hell than where she's escaped from.

It did not sit well with me. She just arrived in less than a day and she's already bagging the title of Luna.

It doesn't even sound right. I sat at the table in my rightful chair, just next to Alpha Jason.

He was not yet out. Perhaps still at his study but will be soon. He never misses dinner except it's something really important or distracting.

Like the day he had lost his wife. His appetite died along with him. I felt so sorry for him and tried to make him feel better but he asked to be left alone. There was nothing I could do.

I could not eat while he was grieving, sitting at the table alone. So I abandoned my food.

When he found out I was not eating too, he invited me over and prepared a special dinner for just the two of us just to make sure I ate.

I heard footsteps and looked up. Jason walked in looking casual but still majestic. He always managed to look like the royalty he was, even in the simplest appearance.

But there was a chill silence between us, because of the argument we had had earlier.

I kept my face straight. Of course, I was not pleased with him, but he did not even have a show of remorse on his face.

However, I stood up briefly and addressed him.

"Alpha," I greeted and he nodded. I sat back down and continued my meal.

After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke.

"I am sorry," he said straightway. I did not react but simply asked.

"What for, Alpha?" I did not bother to look in his way.

"You know that I appreciate you and everything you do for me and the pack. I would never disregard you. You've been with me all these years, by my side. I don't want this to linger between us."

"I understand," I said, looking at him now with a small smile on my face. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have mentioned Elena. I was insensitive, but that was only because I needed you to understand the gravity of your decisions."

He stopped listening to me and I could see it on his face that he was thinking about something else. I squinted my eyes, wondering if I had said something wrong.

He suddenly stood up and scraped the chair back.

"Wh..what, where are you going?" I stuttered. "You've barely touched your food. Are you not hungry?"

"I am so hungry I can eat an elephant," he muttered with a dead serious look on his face. That statement would have passed for a light joke, but I was wondering what he was up to.

He motioned to a maid and she hurried toward him.

"Where is the Luna?" He asked and I felt the food I shovelled down burn in my chest.

"The Luna?" The maid repeated, looking confused and she looked over to me for help. I knew who he was talking about but I was too upset to say anything.

"Aria, where is she? Why is she not eating with us?" Jason's expression was getting colder with each word.

"I don't...I don't know, Alpha," the maid shifted back fearfully. "She's not left her room for a long while now."

Without another word, Jason turned round and headed for her chambers.

"Jason you don't have to go get her yourself. The maid can do it. Your food will get cold," I tried to call him back but he did not even pay any attention to me.

I dropped the cutlery in my hands with an angry gesture, almost throwing them across the table, my hands trembling.

What does he care if she comes to the royal table or not?

So he is just going to leave me here and abandon his meal just to go get her? Why does he have to treat her like she means anything?

If this is just about some kind of contract, as he claims, he is not obligated to show any form of love or service to her.

Gosh, that little attention-seeking bitch! I know she did this on purpose, trying to act all pitiful so Jason would care for her.

Else if she's hungry she should be able to find her way to the goddamn kitchen. Or even ask the maids to get the food for her. But what was with all the acting up and staying back in her room for?

Poor Jason does not even realise she's baiting him and he's fallen for it. What now? He'd go convince her to come to the dining or even possibly bring her here, hand in hand, because I wouldn't pass her going to that extent, pretending she's stressed, so he'd hold her.

That pretending bitch! I was so upset I forgot the meal before me as my thoughts ran wild about Jason going to do the charity work just for her to eat. She's not even his wife. Ugh!
