Chapter 27
Kay-Leah went into her mom’s room to find her still in bed. “Mom, what the hell, is you going to get up? You are going to be late, which is not you. I have to think taking a shower, doing your hair and makeup, not to mention getting dressed is going to take at least an hour, you have to be at the courthouse in two hours.”
“Kay-Leah, I do not think I can do this, it is way too soon. I feel like something is wrong, Zander is pushing way too hard to fast to get married. I barely know him, what his favorite color is his favorite music, his kids, hell I do not even know what kind of movies he does, or if he even does movies, he could be in porn for all I know. I am scared.”
Your gut feeling is right, he is pushing you for all the wrong reasons, but, I cannot let Aunt Jewel go down for bullshit, so I have to shut up and not say anything. “Mom, come on, that is just premarital jitters. You are doing the right thing. You know you stood by me when I got into the mess I am in, now it is my turn to stand by you, now come on get up, get in the shower, I will do your hair and makeup for you, you have to dress yourself though.” Kay-Leah hoped to get a laugh out of that one, but her mom just looked at her “Aunt Jewel called by the way, she said she would be over after she picks up the cake, and a few other things, she has to wait for Uncle Josh and Brit to get in gear though.”
“Okay, I guess I need to get it in gear then, we can go when they get here.”
“Now you got the right idea, if you get into gear, now get with it mom, there is a handsome man awaiting you, to marry you.”
The time had finally come, Sophie was about to become Mrs. Zander Ramsey. On the way home to the courthouse Sophie had the worst thought. What if Alex shows up? What if he starts trouble?
“Did anyone tell Alex that Zander and I are getting married today? He promised that he would stop it. I don’t put it past him to try.”
“I should hope not, I do not think anyone has even talked to him. Heather did tell him that you and Zander were getting married, but she had no clue when.” Kay-Leah had hoped she was right.
“Look, normally when I get a bad feeling like I have now, something bad happens, he knows, he is going to be there, I can feel it. Maybe, it is just me, and I am just more nervous than I thought, but I still think he is going to show up, or he is already there.”
As they pulled into the courthouse parking lot Sophie began to look around, seeing a car similar to the one that Alex has, she suddenly screamed, “No, this is not happening, I told you, I had a bad feeling, I thought no one told him, oh my god, he is here.”
“Fuck Sophie, there are a lot of cars like the one that Alex has, calm down. You do not know for sure that is Alex.” Jewel looked at Josh,”Josh, do us all a favor and go in look around to see if Alex is here.” Jewel looked back at Kay-Leah, “Come on Kay-Leah, we will stay with your mom.”
Josh walked in ahead of Sophie, Jewel, and Kay-Leah; he looked around, but did not see Alex anywhere. Damn my sister is paranoid, when suddenly he spotted Alex. He went to find a security guard and explained what was going on to him. “My sister is getting married today, her ex-husband has abused her numerous times, he has vowed to stop her from getting married to Zander, is there a way to remove the man and set my sisters mind at ease?”
“Sir, I am sorry but unless he causes problems he is allowed to be here, in the event he causes any problems I will ask him to leave that is the best I can do.”
“Thank you, I appreciate your help.”
“Sophie, I have spoken to the security guard, he said he would make sure that if he caused any problems he would remove him, otherwise he cannot do anything.”
As planned the wedding got started. As promised Alex did try to stop the ceremony, “You fucking bastard, you ruined my marriage, that should be me up there not you, we should be renewing our vows, not you two getting married starting a new life, you are not going to live my life with my kids.” Alex yelled running at Zander, swinging and missing, hitting a security guard instead.
“Okay, now that he has been arrested and being taken away let the wedding continue,” Zander said calmly, ”now the circus has left the building.”
As Alex was being taken away he yelled at Sophie, “You are making a big mistake, please think about what you are doing. Don’t do this to us to our kids, I love you. He does not love you, he is using you, he told Kay-Leah, and Jewel.” Then he disappeared into the outdoors.
Watching Alex be taken off by security in handcuffs was a funny site for Zander, he was laughing while thinking the whole time how stupid is this woman. The man seems to know me pretty damn well, I do not love her, I am using her, in the end I will hurt her, I just happen to be a better actor than he is, he loses round one, let the games begin.
“Come on Alex, it is obvious that your ex-wife no longer wants you. She is getting married to the other guy; you can make your one call once we get you booked in the jail. Mr. Ramsey has asked that you be arrested for assault. So Alex, you know your rights and the routine.”
“Yep, oh to well, no thanks to you idiot pigs. I swear you cannot tell a damn user when you see one.”
“That is not our call, nor is it against the law.”
