Stubborn mates and strange goings on
“Micah, you need to get to the office… its important” Xavier said softly from the doorway of the bedroom. He had found himself faced with the strangest scene. And an angry hellhound.
“What is it?” The Alpha replied.
“I don’t think we should discuss it here man” the Beta replied, nodding towards the small lump in the covers that was Ash, this finally caught the Alpha’s attention.
“Sure man, I’ll meet you in the office in a few” Micah answered, his own eyes on Ash’s sleeping form and the hellhound now curling its body around her, having seen off the threat of Xavier.
Micah slipped silently from the bed and into his closet, dressing quickly and heading out of the door, pausing only to turn to the only other creature that he would willingly allow into his bed with his mate, “Look after her ok? I’ll only be downstairs.” The hound had been acting strangely around Ash since they had returned from her birthday trip, Micah had yet to figure it out or interrogate the faerie, but to be fair, he had been pretty busy and as long as he had his mate in his bed every night he didn’t really have much to complain about.
“Micah, it's bad man, the doc phoned, and he said that he’s gotta stop taking other people into the clinic. It's too contagious, he’s had another 4 admissions in the last 10 hours, all of them parents who brought their children in for jabs.” Xavier ran his hands through his hair “And the elders are saying we have to talk to the council, they think that Ash is looking for answers Micah, why do they think that Ash is looking for answers? And why isn't she?”
“what my mate is and isn't doing is none of their or your business!” Micah stormed as he took his seat behind the desk. “We cannot deny healthcare to our people. We need to find somewhere else to set up a makeshift clinic for those who aren't contagious and we need staff who have not been in contact with the infected. I need everyone who had been in the clinic while the infected warriors have been in there to be quarantined in their homes, we can have meals delivered if and when they need it. Anyone else who falls ill should stay home and phone the doc, only going to the clinic when he advises them to. We can deliver food for them too.” Micah spoke quickly, his hands in his hair too and his legs bobbing under the desk.
“Dude, are you ok?” Xavier asked, his brows furrowed as he looked Micah over, “You haven’t told her anything have you? What is going on Micah?”
Micah gave a loud growl, ferocious enough that Xavier took a step back and bowed his head. “Just get it done Xavier” Micah snarled before storming from the room.

Ash woke to a bed devoid of other human inhabitants, but an exceptionally hot and affectionate hellhound wrapped around her middle. Giggling softly as she pushed the hound's face away from her own “Urghhh Shadow… get of me!” She laughed, “Where is Micah?”
The hound tilted his head in a confused fashion and gave a soft whine.
“Ok well, that makes no sense. Let me get dressed and take me to Blaze.” She told the creature. Shadow however still didn’t move off her, in fact he only lay his head further over her middle. “Shadow, what are you doing? Get off me you great hound, I'm too hot”, this seemed to do the trick, the creature moved from the bed slowly.
Eventually, Ash made it down to the kitchen for some breakfast, the large dining room being empty she headed straight into the nearly empty kitchen, Mrs Black and one of the twins were the only people in there, both of them whispering anxiously together over the washing up until Shadow gave a low yip, alerting them to Ash’s presence. “Oh Ash my dear, how are you doing?”
Sitting herself at the kitchen table and reaching down to stroke Shaddow’s head, Ash replied “I’m good Mrs B, really good, have you seen Micah? Or Blaze?”
“Oh… uh… no… no I haven’t, not today hun, I’m sorry” Mrs Black replied distractedly “Have you eaten yet sweet? I can whip up some breakfast or a snack for you no problem.”
“You’re trying to change the subject, Mrs Black… I can tell when something is going on, and right now, something is going on. But, I would love some bacon right now too” Ash answered with a smile.

It was a few hours later that Ash found Blaze. While walking down to the clinic to see if the doc needed any help, Blaze was walking in the other direction. He seemed to speed up to a jog as he saw Ash, Shadow suddenly appeared to pick up Blaze’s mood, winding himself around Ash’s legs and trying to push her back towards the pack house. “Ok guys, what is going on? Seriously? Shadow, stop it, now! You are going to make me fall over!” Ash demanded, looking from the hound to the fae jogging towards her.
“It’s ok Princess, everything is all good down at the clinic, let's head back up to the packhouse, I think you need to look over the new plans for the preschool” Blaze said, his words though were accompanied by an odd, sinking feeling in Ash’s stomach. He wasn’t being entirely honest with her.
“Blaze, what is going on? What aren’t you telling me?” She asked, her hands on her hips and her feet planted firmly on the ground, refusing to be pulled away or turned around.
“Ok… ok… Micah doesn't want you to be worried by anything ok, he’s forbidden anyone from talking to you… He’ll hurt me if I tell you, Ash. You need to go talk to your mate, ok, but not down there. You can't go down there”
“What? Why? Why can’t I go down there? What isn't he telling me? The stubborn, stupid, jackass. Why won’t he tell me what is going on? I’ll bet its something I could help with isn't it?”
Blaze simply hung his head and tried once more to steer Ash around to the head in the other direction with Shadow's help. “Well, where is my stubborn bastard of a mate then?” Ash demanded of the pair of them.
Blaze looked down towards the clinic again “You really shouldn’t go down there, Ash. Please, come back up to the packhouse and I’ll make sure that he comes to talk to you” Blaze tried again with a slight whiny, begging edge to his voice.
