The Intruder Inside the Walls
Micah was out of bed and on alert at the first snarl from the hell beast camped outside his mates room, swearing to himself that if this turned out to be more than a leaf then he would never again curse overprotective fae again.
Creeping towards the half open bedroom door as he heard the beast snarling again and stalking away from Ash’s door. Micah concentrated enough to allow the change to take just his hands, giving him lethal claws to back up the beast should it prove necessary as he reached out mentally, hammering on the mental walls of his beta and his brother.
“Lockdown, now, I think there is an intruder in my stairwell” he told them firmly, knowing that between them they would ensure the safety of the rest of the pack while he dealt with whatever threat lurked behind his door.
Finally the door began to open. The beast at his feet fell silent, never a good sign, as they both slipped into the shadows. Micah understood now why Blaze had named the beast Shadow, he knew it was there yet even he couldnt see it in the shadows.
There was a dark shadow in the doorway in the shape of a person, they too were good at staying hidden and silent. But not as good as the beast at Micah’s feet. Shadow leapt at the figure just as a pained howl was heard throughout the packhouse.

The palace inhabitants plus their many guests were deep into the forest. Ash was in the centre of proceedings, being guided through the ritual by her grandparents. Blaze stood by on the outer edge of the inner circle, near to Ash, close enough that he wasnt affected by the bond but far enough that he wasnt interfering with the magic they were working.
Things were all running smoothly for about half an hour, well to be fair there wasnt really a problem with things here but Blazes hair still stood on end. Something was going on at home. Blaze caught Ash’s attention, calling her over to him, “Shadow is calling out, there’s trouble back home” he told her.
Ash’s face paled, she suddenly grew serious, seeming to age many years as the possibilities crossed her face. “Micah? Is he ok? Is anyone hurt?”
Blaze shook his head “I don’t know, my princess. All I know is that there is something going on, I’m sorry”
“I need to go home, now!” She said firmly, grabbing Blaze by the arm, collecting Kit, she marched them away from the ritual amid the calls of her grandparents and uncle to return. “My pack needs me!” She returned loudly just before they got out of range.
Blaze led them unerringly to a clearing in the trees that not even Ash could have found. Dragging a reluctant Kit behind them. “Ash, your grandparents… your family” he said softly.
“Micah is my family! Micah and Loki and Jay and Mark and Xavier and the pack! Micah found me, Micah pulled me from my own personal hell, not these. Micah and the pack need me, they deserve my loyalty so much more! Now we need a portal!”
“But the ritual isn’t complete Ash… you shouldn’t be leaving yet”
“Does that mean you cant do it?!” Ash demanded fiercely.
Kit finally seemed to remember who he was dealing with and shook his head, lifting his hands to start the spell that would take them back to the packhouse.

Ash was glowing, her eyes had turned their typical dangerous purple that made anyone who knew her think twice about whatever it was that they were doing. The trio burst through the front door of the packhouse, the door was never locked in a pack full of werewolves, there wasnt much point in locking a door when even the teenagers could bust the lock.
Someone let out a loud howl that spoke plainly of a deep pain.
“Loki” breathed Ash.
“Blaze, go to him, do what you can to help, Kit, with me” Ash told them firmly. Blaze immediately ran towards the disembodied howl, while Kit lingered behind Ash as she lead the way towards the staircase that would take them up to the loft flat where she resided with Micah, dodging nimbly around groggy and slowly waking wolves as they went.
Micah blinked in the sudden light as Ash pushed the door open with much more force than necessary. The door hit the wall with a bang. Shadow lept onto the intruder, avoiding his blades easily as his jaw found the mans throat, holding him in place.
Micah’s eyes met Ash’s over the body of the beast. Ash’s hands were up and glowing ready to defend herself, while Kit stood stunned at her shoulder.
“Your brother… go!” Ash told Micah, who didnt need telling twice, the beast and the wizard wouldnt let his mate come to any harm before Xavier got here. He took off out of the door as fast as was humanly possible, passing Xavier on his way.
It was over two hours later when Micah next saw Ash. The bodies were taken care of for now and the room being cleaned. The perpetrator was locked in the dankest cell in the dungeon under guard. Micah and Loki walked into Micah’s flat both looking like the weight of the world had just slapped them across the face before settling itself on their shoulders. Micah found Ash and quickly wrapped her in his arms.
“I’m glad your both here… I hate to do this now but I don’t think it can wait and I can’t deal with this on my own…” Ash said softly, knowing that both brothers would hear her regardless. “Do you know where Kit is?” She asked them.
“He’s by the front door… do you want me to go get him?” Loki asked, already turning towards the door before Ash could even answer.
“No!” Ash hissed viciously, grabbing Loki by the arm to stop him. “No, its him I need to talk to you about” she finished.
Both boys looked at her with cocked heads and almost identical confused looks on thier faces.
“Listen, something doesn’t feel right about him. I get this feeling in my stomach when Blaze lies, it wasnt until he showed me what it was that I realised I’ve had it before, a lot actually, generally around Kit. And when Blaze told me something was kicking off here, it didn’t seem to come as a surprise to him and he was reluctant to leave the palace and get a portal for us. I think it’s something to do with him, I don’t think he is who he says he is” she explained rapidly. Looking between the twins urgently and intensely, as if she could impress the urgency of her words on them with just her gaze.
Micah and Loki looked from Ash to each other and growled lowly, threateningly, making shadow put himself between them and Ash. “The fucking wizard” Micah said softly before both brothers turned and headed to the front door of the flat. Before Kit could react they had grabbed him by the arms and were descending the stairs. Their gazes murderous enough to make even Rhys stop in his tracks.
