Chapter 52 CHAPTER 52

Chapter 52 CHAPTER 52
The clearing thrummed with power. Even after the last spark of Lisa’s shift had settled, the air felt alive, vibrating beneath her paws and through the crown of hybrid strength she now carried. Celia exhaled, golden eyes scanning the circle of wolves, the elders, the torchlight flickering across their faces. She felt Lisa inside, smaller, still trembling with awe and delight.

We did it, Lisa whispered, the first words after the storm of transformation.

See? Celia replied, tail flicking in satisfaction. I knew we could.

It was… amazing, Lisa said softly. Other than the pain.

Celia’s lips twitched into a grin. Sorry about that. But it’s worth it, isn’t it?

Lisa nodded. Proud of us. Proud of you.

The clearing shifted as movement stirred at its edge. Ethan’s form blurred, then solidified, his own wolf, Rex, bounding forward with fluid grace. His amber eyes glimmered with pride as he approached, muscles rippling, fur glinting silver in the moonlight.

“Little sister,” Rex rumbled in a deep, resonant voice, leaning down until his muzzle brushed Celia’s. “You’ve grown… into a strong pup sis.”

Celia’s tail swished with emotion. “And you… you’re strong. Even taller than I imagined. You’ve changed, Rex.”

Wait, do you remember him? Lisa asked Celia from the inside.

A little bit yes. Celia responded with a smile.

“Our mother would have been proud,” he said, nuzzling her side. His voice softened. She – Elyra -loved her pup fiercely, even from afar. Apollo, our father, too. You were always theirs before you were the Mooncrest court princess.

Celia’s golden eyes glimmered. “Their names… Elyra and Apollo. I feel them now, as if I’ve finally come home.”

“You have,” Rex said. “And look at you - you’ve taken after her. Your mane, your eyes, the fire in your heart. She would see herself in you.”

Celia tilted her head. “Thank you… I’m happy I carry something of hers. She must have been strong and beautiful”

“She was.” Rex said with a smile.

Across the clearing, Celestine raised her staff. Her silver and blue robes shimmered as the wind whispered through the trees.

“Behold,” she proclaimed, voice ringing with authority and warmth. “Celia, daughter of the moon, hybrid of power and heart, we name you Lycan Princess of Mooncrest.”

The air exploded with sound. Wolves, Lycans, elders - one by one, each shifted into their full Lycan forms. Muscle and fur, claw and fang, they knelt, bowed, and lifted their heads in unison. Then, with a cry that rolled through the night like thunder, they howled - a chorus of celebration, a symphony of welcome. The moon itself seemed to pulse in rhythm with the sound.

Lisa’s heart thudded. Inside, she squeezed Celia’s consciousness, marvelling at the body that had carried her through pain, through fear, to triumph. We’re finally home, she breathed.

Celia dipped her head toward Isabel, who had been standing wide-eyed and silent through it all. “You,” Celia said softly, approaching her human friend. “Thank you. For everything.”

Isabel’s eyes glimmered with tears. “It was the other way around, she said, voice trembling. You saved me from those awful men who almost assaulted me. It’s… it’s an honour to finally meet you in person.”

Celia’s mouth curved beneath her fur. “Then it is an honour indeed.” She lowered her head until her snout was near Isabel’s hand. “Touch me. Feel the other side of you friend Lisa.”

Isabel hesitated a heartbeat, then lifted her hand. Celia gently took it between her own paw, warm and solid. She guided it upward, brushing it over the fur of her face.

“So soft!” Isabel gasped, leaning closer.

Celia chuckled, a low, melodic sound that made the elders murmur. The shock of a human standing unafraid in the midst of fully shifted Lycans rippled across the clearing.

She’s fearless, Lisa whispered inside, amused. And curious.

Meanwhile, Rex shifted closer to Celia. “Do you want to go for a run before we return to human form and dinner?” he asked, voice carrying a playful rumble.

Celia’s eyes glimmered with excitement. “Yes. Let’s.”

Isabel glanced toward the edge of the clearing, uncertainty flickering across her features. Did Lisa intend to leave her here – alone – with these shifted wolves? Liam, now returned to human form, noticed her anxiety immediately. “It’s not too late to go back to the palace, little human,” he teased gently.

Isabel gave him a look, half reproach, half relief. But she stayed put, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. I trust you, she said softly. And she did. She felt safe beside him, even among this sea of giants and fur, because he was the one anchor she could hold.

Celia nudged Lisa gently, tail flicking in excitement. Ready?

Always, Lisa replied.

Rex bounded forward, and Celia followed, moving together with synchronized grace. Side by side, siblings reunited, they broke into a run through the moonlit woods. The grass bent beneath their paws, the air rushing past in a rush of pure exhilaration. Their howls merged, a song of joy and belonging that echoed across the fields, across the forests, across the night itself.

In the clearing, the crowd slowly lowered their heads, allowing the wolves their moment of freedom. The celebratory howls faded into the whispers of leaves, the soft rustle of the forest, the quiet heartbeat of the land that had witnessed the rise of a princess.

Isabel took a deep breath, awed, hand still in Liam’s. “She’s… she’s amazing, she whispered. All of her. And… so beautiful.”

Liam chuckled softly, eyes following the two wolves disappearing into the trees. “Yes. And she’s home now. That’s what matters.”

Celia paused mid-stride, glancing back over her shoulder. Lisa laughed softly inside, her voice shining with wonder. We did it. We really did it.

And it only gets better from here, Celia replied, voice rich with pride. This is just the beginning.

Rex lifted his head to the moon, golden eyes reflecting silver light. You belong, he murmured. You always have. And now everyone knows it.

Celia’s chest rose and fell with the strength of her hybrid body, tail flicking like a pendulum marking time. And I am ready.

The two wolves, siblings, friends, and heirs of the moon, dashed into the woods. Side by side, paws pounding the soft earth, hearts beating in synchrony, spirits soaring. The forest opened to them as if it had been waiting all along.

Above, the moon shone brighter, and for the first time in her life, Lisa - inside, aware, alive - knew that she was finally, irrevocably home.
