Chapter 10 Is there an intruder in Captain Bryan's house?
Beta John was about to start his car, but Gerald held his hand back again.
"Wait a minute!" Gerald exclaimed.
"Yes, Alpha?"
"Make sure your plan works! I don't want to know! Jenny, Jennifer, whatever her name is now, must come back to me! Or you know what the consequences will be! If not, I'll take her by force, whether she likes it or not! Do you understand, Beta John?" Gerald shouted, glaring sharply, making the atmosphere around them instantly cold and terrifying. Especially since there were only the two of them in the car.
Beta John swallowed his saliva in fear. "O-okay, Alpha!"
"Can we go now, Alpha? So I can work out the plan?" John asked timidly.
"Okay! But put some people around here without Jenni and that damn Captain knowing! I don't want anything to happen to my wife and child! Understand?" Gerald said again.
"Yes, Alpha!" Beta John took out his mobile phone and spoke to someone, then put it back in his pocket when he was done.
"Now, shall we go, Alpha? There will be a few people later who will be on guard around here or disguised as cleaners or servants cleaning the house. Because from the information I received, Captain John is looking for a servant to clean his house! So I asked one of our guards to go undercover and become a servant there!" John explained in detail.
Gerald leaned against his car, nodded, and began to close his eyes.
"Good!" he said briefly, keeping his eyes closed.
John slowly took a breath, 'Thank God... he's satisfied! I'm safe for now!'
John was about to start the car again, but then Gerald opened his eyes, “Wait a minute! John! In your opinion, who is more handsome, me or that bloody Captain?”
John blinked in disbelief, ‘What is this? Since when did the famous Alpha of the Blackstone Pack—the largest and strongest pack—feel insecure about himself? Ah, madam, you are truly extraordinary!’
"John??"
"Sorry, Alpha! In my opinion, Alpha... you're more handsome, richer, stronger. I think the lady already knows that, which is why she avoids you, Alpha, because... she feels she's not good enough for you, Alpha!" John exclaimed, lying a little.
"Really? Why is that? Doesn't she know I love her! And have been waiting for her for years, right? You know that a wolf is only loyal to one mate once he has found his mate, right?" asked Gerald, confused and curious.
"Y-yes, Alpha. But that's because... the Lady's current condition, it seems she's losing her memory, Alpha! But, I'll find out the truth, why the Lady forgot about you, Alpha!" John tried again to calm the fierce man beside him.
"Hmm... is it true that she has lost her memory, John? Argh!! It must be because of the impact of our last battle! I always regret not protecting her at that time! Actually, what happened to her? Can she remember me again, John?" Gerald looked sad and different when talking about Jennifer, the deep sadness in his eyes was very clear.
"I don't know what difficulties she faced when I wasn't by her side... she... raised our child alone! You see, don't you? That child must be mine! He has the same eyes as me and the same nose... I can feel that he is my pup, John!" said Gerald, a little moved.
"Yes, Alpha, I can see it too! Alpha, I promise I'll find out as much information as possible about the lady and bring her back to our pack!" John exclaimed, also a little emotional.
Gerald patted his shoulder, "Thank you, John! I know I can count on you!"
"Hmm!" John could only nod firmly.
"Now, let's go!" Gerald stared from a distance at Jennifer across the way.
Gerald looked down when suddenly Jennifer seemed to look in his direction? As if she was looking for something!
"Quick! Step on the gas! John! I don't want her to see me! She might run away again later! Quick!" Gerald, who was looking down, shook Beta John's shoulder frantically like a lovesick teenager.
"Ready, Alpha!"
At full speed, John pressed the gas pedal and left the simple but beautiful house.
"""”
Meanwhile, Jennifer looked across the room, searching for the figure who seemed to have been watching her all along.
"I feel like I've seen him before? Is it him? Ah, it can't be Gerald following me here! Remember, Jennifer! He's a CEO, a billionaire who has a lot of important work to do rather than stalking an employee he's already fired! Yeah, I must be wrong! But why... is my heart racing again?" Jennifer gently placed her hand over her heart.
"Ah, I'm overthinking and exhausted, it seems! I'd better tidy up a bit! And check on Alex upstairs! Instead of thinking about something unimportant!" Jennifer then closed the door.
Jennifer slowly went upstairs to Alex's and her room.
"Alex? What are you doing, dear? Have you taken a bath, sweetheart?" Jennifer pushed open the door to his room.
Jennifer smiled slightly, "It seems he's tired and fell asleep after his bath! No wonder I didn't hear him!"
Jennifer caressed her son gently with love.
“I’m sorry! Mummy has disappointed you! But Mummy promises, tomorrow Mummy will find a new job so your life won’t be difficult!” Jennifer tidied up Alex’s blanket, pulling it higher.
"Luckily, this room and the sheets seem clean! Did someone clean it before we arrived? It looks like it's been cleaned! But who? I didn't see anyone here!" Jennifer felt like there was something in Captain Bryan's house, but she didn't know what it was.
According to Jennifer, Captain Bryan's house looked well-maintained and frequently visited, 'But why did Captain Bryan say he rarely came here? Then who lives here if he's not here? What is Captain Bryan actually hiding?'
While she was thinking, Jennifer's mobile phone suddenly rang.
"Hello?" With a little nervousness, Jennifer answered the call from someone whose number she didn't recognise.
"Yes, this is Jennifer Ross! Who is this? Oh... you're Mr. Dixon's assistant? What? I have to go there? Hmm... Can I come to your place tomorrow morning? Around 9:00 or 10:00?" asked Jennifer, holding her phone tightly.
"All right, see you tomorrow morning, okay! I've written down your address!" Jennifer held a pen and paper in her hand as the person mentioned the address.
Jennifer sighed heavily, 'Great! Tomorrow I have to go to Mr. Dixon's office, whose car I crashed into this morning! Unbelievable! Why does bad luck always find me lately?'
While she was pondering her fate, Jennifer suddenly heard something.
"Creak!"
"Who's there?" Jennifer hurriedly opened her bedroom window. She heard what sounded like footsteps and twigs being crushed. The sound was coming from the room below hers, which is why she ran to the window.
"There's no one there! Did I hear wrong? It sounded like footsteps, and not just one person? Is there an intruder in Captain Bryan's house? I'd better close the doors and windows tightly!" Jennifer closed her window and then ran downstairs to close all the doors and windows.
Jennifer was about to close the front door as she ran, but the front door opened and Jennifer didn't have time to dodge.
Jennifer collided with it. And the person caught her body as she was about to fall because her feet had slipped earlier.
“Argh!! No!! Don’t come near me! Let me go!!” Jennifer tried to hit the person.
“Hey!! Are you okay? What’s wrong? Look!
It’s me!!”
Someone shouted, still holding Jennifer’s body tightly with concern.
The sound was like…
