Chapter 47

“I'm glad to see that you have all honored me and gathered here today." Minrad began with his speech. Asha was supposed to be by his side as he stood still by the mountain entrance, where he could easily be seen by all the villagers who had gathered, mostly for the sake of gossip, to know who their new leader was, what had happened to Ash and what was going on.

It was tradition for his wife to be up with him, if he had one. But she felt ashamed for her husband's actions, knowing that selfishness was always rewarded, especially spiritually.

Sitting in one corner of her room frying, she hugged her knees to her chest, "my husband is a dead man." She knew it. She just did.

"I know you are all wondering what has happened but let us face it, it was about time we got a better lord, one who actually cares for his citizens! Together, we can restore…" he was cut off by the unexpected appearance of a dark cloud that set the people around mumbling.

Minrad stopped his speech to look up at the sky with squinted eyes. He wondered what could be going on with things.

Before he had the chance to connect the dots, people were consumed by a flood that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. He couldn’t believe his eyes and did not want to waste any time trying his best to figure things out. He ran into the mountains, knowing it was built so well, there would be no way for any strange thing to get into the building.

“Minrad, what’s going on?” Asha stood to her feet with a gasp, rushing to her husband’s side when he ran into the room.

She stared at him with wide eyes, wondering what could have happened now.

“I don't know, I have no idea, I was giving my speech and the dark clouds, and the people were drowned and…Frost…" he gasped in realization.

With a frown, Minrad turned on his heels and went towards the door.

"Where on earth are you going?" Asha panicked, obstructing his movements by standing in front of him, determined she wasn't going to let him leave.

"I can deal with this."

"Minrad, he is a monster, please don't do this, let's find a way out and go into hiding, we will figure things out but first let us find a way out of this,” she said.

“Why are you stopping me?” Minrad held her tight. “You did this the last time; you never seem to have any faith in me at all and I hate that it always has to be like this…”

“I warned you the last time and look at where it got us!” By now, she had begun to cry. All she wanted was their safety and if she had known, she would have ensured they remained in Burn kingdom.

“I can fix this; he wants Ash not us…” he tried to convince her, but she remained adamant and stood still in front of him. That was the last screw for him. With anger, he pushed her aside and ignored how she fell to the floor, sliding her arm against the grainy ground. She yelled in pain and began to wail after him as he left.

Her eyes diverted to the servants that were inside the mountain taking their leave through the emergency exit. They were the ones smart enough to have remained inside working while the others had gone to listen to Minrad talk.

She stopped crying with a sniff and wiped her nose with the back of her hands and stood to her feet, following after the servants.

When she was out of the mountains, she gave a loud call for the messenger bird that had been sent out the day before, knowing well it would assist her in finding Ash. If there was one man to solve their problem, it had to be him.

Minrad stood in front of the entrance, his eyes following the movements of the bird as it made its way to land. He cared less about the people that had been carried away by the mighty flood that Frost had created.

“What the heck are you doing?” Minrad snapped at Frost when he landed and got off the bird. His appearance was admittedly shocking. He was completely bald, and his clothes were blood stained.

“Ash is no longer lord, get out of here.” Minrad waved as if that was all it took to get Frost to leave.

Frost wasted no time in arguing. He attacked with frozen balls from his fists, something Minrad had no idea he possessed. He was fast enough to dodge it thanks to his senses as lord.

“You can't take me down that easily you bitch, I'm lord now.” Minrad smirked, ready to go physical. This was his time to show Asha what he was made of and the things he could do as lord.

Frost charged at him with another huge frozen ball that he dodged again by lowering his head, but Frost pulled a smarter move, knowing Minrad would have moved his head in that direction. He pulled out a knife and pierced it through Minrad’s head.
