Wallmounts save lives

Wallmounts save lives
In the little boy’s room, we were all assaulted with various toys. Wall anchors prevented the furniture from being used against us. I made a mental note to start anchoring all furniture and suggesting it to anyone with a ghost problem. We were winning. Until the baby’s room.

They were waiting for us there.  This is where they were going to make their stand. Standing beside the bed were four shadow beings. A quick glance confirmed that even the norms could see them. That was never a good sign when they showed themselves like that. As we began our chants, the lights started to flicker. Demonic growls filled the room. Eerie laughter was interwoven with it. Claw marks were appearing in the unicorn wallpaper over the crib. They started towards the top of the ten-foot wall and slid down out of sight behind the bumpers on the crib. The dolls on the bookcase all had red glowing eyes as they launched at us. Reciting Psalms 23, I used the curtain rod that had been thrown at us moments before to knock them out of the room. Too bad the softball coach from high school couldn’t see me now. Bet I’d have made the team this time.

“I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.” I screamed at the creepy red eyed pastel colored clown. “That means you bozo.”

I kept reciting and defending us from airborne attacks. Robbie to his credit kept filming. Jesse made sure to smudge every inch of the room. The priest drenched the room with holy water while commanding them to leave. During the cleansing I had moved towards the door. The Rock sized one charged me. Its footsteps echoed off the walls. Not being willing to let it take me again, I swung the curtain rod at its head. The force of the contact sent shock waves reverberating down my arms. The demon howled. Guess it missed me drenching the rod in holy water. While it was momentarily incapacitated, the rest of the group doused him and banished him. The others weren’t as powerful and quickly were dispatched too.

The next morning, we had a meeting with the owners to explain the infestation. We also explained the dangers of the house. It was cleansed but it could easily have another infestation. Demons were like parasites. Once they got into a place it was hard to keep them out. We did everything we could to seal it but couldn’t make any guarantees. Tragically, less than six months later the family died in their sleep due to carbon-monoxide poisoning. We weren’t allowed back into the house, which kept us from discovering if it had been an accident or not. Ownership of the house had passed to the husband’s brother. He was aware of the demon situation and had agreed it would be best if the house wasn’t lived in. Not sure why he had put it on the market now. Hoped it was because of the economy and not because something had happened to him.

We silently but hurriedly vamoosed out of the house to our cars. Stopping only to make sure the electronic keypad was locked. I had to admit I liked this new technology that lets you look at houses without an agent there trying to talk you into a house that was right. Now you made an appointment, they sent you a code, you let yourself in, and lock it on your way out.

“Maybe not Flower Mound.” Vi hugged me goodbye before she sped off in the rocket ship she was never going to let me drive.

Spine tingling, I jumped in my Jeep and hightailed it out of there hoping nothing had noticed my presence.
