CHAPTER 8. RESTORING WHAT HAS BEEN LOST
"Say goodbye to this world!" said Nagara, opening his mouth wide so that his two fangs were visible to Diego. Suddenly, however, the demon's mouth snapped shut again, seemingly to tell Diego something as its tail trapped him.
"Before you become my meal, there's one thing you should know, Little Demon," he said. The snake demon king hissed in Diego's ear, whispering a shocking secret.
“Whichever creature I eat, there will be no next life for them. In other words, they will not be able to reincarnate." Diego's eyes rounded perfectly, with his teeth chattering at that statement.
Seeing his opponent's surprised reaction, Nagara laughed so loudly that it echoed throughout the forbidden forest. He also showed his ability by opening his mouth large, after which all the demon bodies on the forbidden forest land were sucked into his stomach. In just a matter of seconds, the demon corpses lying on the expanse of the banned forest had moved into Nagara's stomach.
On top of that, this evil demon wasn't satisfied. He also sucked the monsters who were still alive. Nagara's actions were cruel in the eyes of the wolf prince, making his emotions run high. Diego struggled in the giant snake's strong coils, but his efforts were in vain.
"You're the most damned creature I've ever met! You killed all of them who were completely innocent of you, and you made them unable to live in the future!" Diego shouted, expressing his hatred for the demon's actions in front of him.
"No need to get angry! Soon, you will have the same fate as them. So is that human," Nagara said, directing his gaze to Sandra, lying alone near the fallen tree ruins.
Diego shook his head angrily with his tense rehang. In his mind, he had to fight to the bitter end, not die stupidly in the belly of that cruel demon.
"I will stand in the way of your wishes, damn demon! I will not let you-." Before Diego could finish his sentence, Nagara had already devoured him.
This cruel demon is feeling increasingly critical, having preyed on all the monsters in the forbidden forest. Now, the forest is only inhabited by Sandra, Nagara, and Scaledark, who are still in hiding.
The slithering demon's sharp eyes turned to the creature hated the most. Curling his body and stomach, Nagara moved closer to Sandra to make the woman his dessert.
Using his enormous tail, Nagara lifted Sandra's body, leading her towards his big mouth. Suddenly, the action stopped when he felt intense pain in his stomach.
The Nagara snake's body slithered endlessly over the surface of the ground, even attempting to spit something out, but nothing came out of its mouth but a torrent of flames.
Stop it! Please stop! It hurts so much." Nagara repeatedly shouted, pleading for the torture to stop.
Scaledark, watching from afar, began to wonder what had happened to Nagara. "What's making Nagara in pain? Or could it be that werewolf?"
Scaledark could not let Nagara die or lose. The half-demon thought to help his allies immediately so that his plan could be realized.
Scaledark decided to come out of hiding. He ventured closer to Nagara, who was in pain. After getting close to Nagara, Scaledark greeted the snake king carefully.
"What happened to you, my lord?" asked Scaledark.
"Who are you?" he retorted loudly in a stern tone.
"I am Scaledark, leader of the snake people of the East. I share your fate, Lord. Confined to this forbidding place," he explained.
"Then hurry up and get rid of this pain in my stomach!" he pleaded to Scaledark in a voice full of pain. "Looks like that werewolf hasn't completely given up yet,"
"Take it easy, Lord. I'll help you," Scaledark took a few dry leaves and gave them to the giant snake before him.
"Eat this Bidaru leaf, Lord! It will speed up your digestive process, so the werewolf will soon disintegrate in your life stomach."
"Why should I trust a half-demon like you? You could have given me poison to kill me."
Scaledark immediately prostrated himself in fear. The Man’s body trembled before the being he regarded as the ruler. "I wouldn't dare do anything bad to you, Lord. It was I who freed you from that spell of confinement."
Nagara squinted his sharp eyes, seeking the truth from Scaledark. Although he doubted Scaledark's confession, he had no choice. He could no longer bear the pain of being torn apart in his stomach.
Finally, the snake king ate three dried leaves of Bidaru. Miraculously, in an instant, the medicine cured the pain Nagara felt. The snake demon's enormous body was able to move again as before.
“Lord, looks like you've recovered?" murmured Scaledark happily.
"So, what do you want from me?" asked Nagara, who knew Scaledark's hidden intentions.
"Destroy this cursed place, Lord! So that you and I can be free to hunt down those arrogant humans."
"Sure. I will destroy this place, including you!" Instantly, Nagara spouted his fire at Scaledark.
Not expecting Nagara's cunning plan, Scaledark could not dodge the blast of fire directed at him. As a result, Scaledark's entire body caught fire, and he cried out in pain. It didn't take long for Scaledark's whole half-demon body to be burnt to the ground.
After Scaledark's death, the poison in Sandra's body slowly disappeared. The woman's body began to improve, with her skin no longer turning blue. Her consciousness also began to return.
Sandra's eyelids slowly opened. The first sight she saw was destruction. The woman looked both confused and frightened.
“What is this place?" she muttered, looking at the forest that mainly had burned. What surprised Sandra the most was finding the form of a giant snake not far from where she was.
Suddenly, the woman's heart raced, and her body trembled violently. Her eyes widened to the point of being unable to blink. "Oh my God! What horrible thing do I have to face right now?" she muttered under her breath as she tried to stand up, getting ready to run away.
With shaky steps, Sandra carried her body that had not fully recovered. Without knowing the exact direction, Sandra tried to get away from the danger that was stalking her.
Meanwhile, in the celestial world, the gods were witnessing the destruction that had occurred in the forbidden forest. All the gods gathered in the main, and the heavenly palace looked so anxious over the awakening of the dangerous demon.
"What about this, King? Do we stand by without doing anything?" asked the earth god, who could not stand to see all the damage in the forbidden forest made by Nagara.
"Of course, we have to act. Suppose that demon manages to get out of the forbidden forest. Unfortunately, that will never happen," replied the sky king confidently.
"That snake is solid, King. It must have been able to break through the defense seal of that place. Especially since it has devoured all the demons there," said another god.
However, the king of the sky did not heed the gods' opinion; he still felt confident that Nagara would not be able to penetrate the defenses of the forbidden forest.
"I made the seal of that place with a potent spell. Do you doubt my power?" The celestial king's words silenced the gods, so no one dared to comment. The palace hall suddenly became silent until the goddess of life appeared.
“You have finally come to my palace, Goddess. It has been a long time since we met." The sky king developed a smile for his favorite goddess.
"That's right, Your Majesty. We have not seen each other for a long time. The last time we met was during the chaos in the human world," replied the goddess with her gentle words.
“This time is the same, Your Majesty. My presence in this palace will announce disaster for all of us if that vengeful demon manages to eat the humans currently trapped in the forest ban."
All the gods were shocked and wondered what the goddess meant. "What do you mean, Goddess? Who is this human? Until he can create a disaster for all of us," asked the king of the sky.
The goddess began to tell her story. Those in the palace hall began to understand what disaster the goddess of life was referring to. The king of the sky also started to get restless after hearing the goddess's explanation.
"Then send me to defeat that evil demon, King," suggested the god of war valiantly. But the King of Heaven disagreed with the god of war's suggestion.
“You can't! Your power will be dissolved if you enter that place. You will die in vain, Commander," said the sky king.
"Even worse, you won't be able to reincarnate," the sky king continued.
"Then, how can we save that human, King?" the god of war asked.
"Looks like I have to return what I took from that little demon."
“Are you planning to restore his power?" asked the goddess, curious about the sky king's plan.
“Not restoring his strength, but restoring the memories of her past that I've been hiding."
The gods increasingly did not understand the sky king's plan. How could only the memories of the wolf prince defeat a powerful demon like Nagara?
