Chapter 190
Mercedes walked down a path of flowers, in her wedding dress and holding a bouquet of flowers in her hand. The pack members and a few friends from outside were invited to the wedding. As she walked, everyone gasped and murmured to themselves about her beauty and her beautiful dress. Mercedes was nervous as she walked forward, trying to conceal her trembling steps. All their eyes on her were making her nervous. The only thing that could calm her down was Felix, who was standing at the altar. She looked at him as she made her way towards him.
Mercedes managed to calm down as she felt the world and everyone fade away. It was just Felix and her. The wind blew, and the birds chirped loudly in celebration of her wedding. Mercedes made it in front of Felix, and he took her hand and helped her stand beside him. Her eyes met his, and she smiled at him shyly.
Felix was holding back from shedding tears of joy in front of everyone but his eyes were burning. He was astonished by how Angelic Mercedes looked at the moment. She said that her dress would blow him away, and he now understood what she meant by it. Her dress was glinting in the light, and she was glowing beautifully. If he had it his way, she would only dress that way, only for him.
Jake and Crystal stood next to the couple as their best man and maid of honor. The kids were sitting with Alexa and Isadora in front. Horace was bubbly, clapping his little hands for his parents even though he probably didn't understand what was going on.
Felix's heart started racing as the wedding ceremony commenced. The elder of the pack was the one who was going to officiate their wedding. He started talking about the reason that brought them together and preaching about love and commitment. Felix could not hear a thing of what he was saying. His eyes were fixated on his beautiful bride.
He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the elder say,“ Do you, Felix Ransom, take Mercedes Underwood as your lawfully wedded wife?”
Without hesitation, with a clear and bold voice she said,“ I do.”
Mercedes's face flushed, and she bit her lip, casting her eyes down. She didn't want anyone to see how red her face had become. She tightened her grip on the flowers in her hands.
“ Do you, Mercedes Underwood, take Felix Ransom, as your lawfully wedded husband,”
She, too, didn't hesitate.
“ I do,” she whispered, shaking a little. She was overwhelmed by emotions. Her eyes were brimming with tears, but she didn't want to cry before the ceremony ended, and they took pictures. She could remember Crystal's scolding, telling her not to cry and ruin her perfect make-up. She almost laughed thinking about it. So she had no choice but to suppress her tears.
The elder continued after both of them had said their ‘ I do’.
“ I believe the Alpha and Luna would like to read their own vows to each other. When you are ready, please start.
Felix cleared his throat. Felix asked Mercedes if she wanted to say her vows in front of everyone during the wedding, and she agreed, so they both wrote and rehearsed their vows. But now that he was standing in front of Mercedes, Felix realized that he could say the words from the heart and not from a piece of paper he wrote earlier. He already knew what he wanted to say to her.
Felix took a breath before he started speaking. He made sure to look in her eyes as he spoke.
“ Mercedes, my love. You have been the ray of light that was missing in my life for a long time. Even after meeting you, it took me a while to realize that you were the one who was made for me. I had been through a lot of hardship as a child and because of that, my heart hardened. When you came along, I never knew that you would be the one who would soften my heart and make me feel things that I had never felt before. You stood by my side, loved me and gave me the family I didn't have before. You became my home and peace and I can't imagine a life without you or our child. I could never thank you enough, but today, I stand before you, all these people as witnesses and I promise to love you with all my heart. You are the only one who shall reside in my heart. I promise to choose you every day of our lives and protect you from anything.”
Mercedes lips trembled as she tried to blink away her tears.
“ Oh god,” she laughed, wiping away the tears that managed to escape her eyes.
She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself enough to talk. It was her turn to say her own vows.
“ I don't know what to say. My mind is suddenly blank,” she laughed nervously. Everyone else laughed. Felix smiled and took her hands in his.
“ Calm down,” he whispered, squeezing them lightly.
Mercedes nodded her head and briefly closed her eyes. When she opened them, she was ready to talk.
“ Life has had ups and downs and the only thing that could keep me sane from it was you, Felix. I was a lost girl who didn't know who she was and had nowhere to go, and you took me in. That was the beginning of our difficult but amazing life. We have been through a lot but because of you, I have managed to appreciate all the good and the bad. Your love for me has brought me back to life, and I am so happy that today I got the chance to stand in front of you as your bride. You have never once let go of my hand. You chose me then, and you keep choosing me now. I just want to let you know that I chose you as well. I chose you, forever and always. I choose our family, love and happiness. I want to experience the rest of this life with you by my side. So I promise to be a good wife to you and a good mother to children. I promise to cherish and take care of you. I promise to love you though everything with all my heart.”
A tear slipped out of Felix's eyes. Everything he wanted came true at that moment. He was happy. Everyone else was happy and others emotional. Alexa was crying and Isadora was rubbing her back, trying to get her to calm down.
“ By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the elder said.
“ You may kiss your bride.”
Felix didn't need to be told twice. He gently pulled Mercedes close to him and kissed her. Everyone cheered loudly. Mercedes smiled against his lips as he kissed her slowly, like they were the only ones there.
Holding her in his arms, he pulled back and said,“ You are mine now, Mrs Ransom.”
She smiled and pressed her forehead against his. “ I've been yours for a long time, Mr Ransom.”
The wedding ceremony was over and the time to throw the bouquet to the ladies came.
“ Are you all ready?!” Mercedes yelled at the crowd.
The ladies yelled,“ Yes! “
Mercedes turned around and threw the bouquet behind her. The ladies fought and jumped trying to catch it, and it landed on little Alison's lap while she sat in the stroller next to Horace. Horace laughed and cheered, making everyone else laugh. She was the lucky lady. Felix watched as his bride danced and enjoyed herself with her friends. She was so beautiful and carefree. He now had everything he wanted. Nothing to complain about.
