The sunlight spilled into the room, piercing Mercedes's eyes. She groaned and opened her eyes. She tried to cover her eyes and something on her hand shone through the sunlight. Mercedes squinted her eyes as she tried to see what it was. Once her vision was better, she saw the princess diamond cut ring on her finger. A smile spread on her face as everything from the previous night flooded her mind.

The date, fireworks, proposal, the passionate night. She bit her lip as she clearly remembered the events that occurred. It was not a dream after all. She didn't feel sleepy anymore. Felix was sleeping soundly beside her, his grip loose on her waist, so she was able to sit up on the bed, pulling the sheets to cover her chest. She stretched out her hand in front of her, admiring the diamond in her finger. Her heart swelled with happiness. She couldn't believe that her dreams were coming true and all the troubles were behind her. The man of her dreams was right next to her.

Mercedes was so happy that she was emotional. To think that she almost didn't experience this kind of love. It was truly a blessing to be alive, and she wasn't going to waste the chance she had been given. Tears burned her eyes but she stopped them. She couldn't cry. It was a joyous time in her life and tears would not be coming out of her eyes for a while.

“ I said it, didn't I? ” Felix said, startling Mercedes. “ That ring belongs on your finger. When I saw it, I knew that it was meant for you.”

Mercedes nodded her head. “ It is truly beautiful. It's prefect. I love it.”

Felix pulled her back and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. He enveloped her, pulling her against his chest. Mercedes melted into his embrace feeling a sense of comfort, love and safety. She leaned back her head, laying it on his shoulder as he nuzzled his face on her neck. He took in her scent and planted kisses along her neck.

“ This moment is perfect,” whispered

“ You are perfect. You have made me the happiest by agreeing to become my wife. I feel really fortunate. It feels like all the time we spent apart and all the difficulties we went through were not in vain. I have you back with me and our lives will finally get back on track, and we can be a happy family. Nothing matters more than that.”

Mercedes turned her head, meeting Felix's lips in a tender kiss. She pulled back and put her forehead against his forehead and briefly closed her eyes. She took in the silence between them and everything at the moment. Felix was right. They could be the family they always wanted. Nothing was standing in their way now. Their dreams were no longer impossible, and they had a lifetime to mold their lives the way they wanted.

“ It's a miracle,” she whispered, her emotions overflowing with joy. She was mostly at peace and their lives were no longer spinning out of control. They were stable, with a clear direction.

“ Let's be happy. Our family is most precious to me and I want us to live happily. I want us to love unconditionally and be the greatest parents to Horace,” Mercedes said, her heart suddenly aching at the thought of Horace.

“ Our dear child didn't have it easy from the moment he was born. I have always regretted that he has never fully received the love and affection from his parents as he should have. That time of our lives was rough, and we couldn't be there for him. All of a sudden, he was no longer the little baby I held in my arms. He is all grown up, and I missed it all.”

Mercedes was trying hard not to cry. It was always going to be a scar in her heart that she couldn't protect and love her son the way she should have. It was something she just couldn't forgive herself for, and it pained her to think about. Felix said nothing and just let her get through her emotions. There was nothing he could say to bring any comfort to her heart because he felt the same. He felt that he failed as a father.

He hugged her tightly and she buried her face in his chest.

“ It's alright now, my love. Try not to think about that too much. You and I are still here, and we will make it up to Horace. Let's shower him with all the love and affection we have. He has survived through the worst. From now on, nothing but happiness awaits him.”

After a while of lying in each other's arms and fooling around a little, it was time for them to go back home. Everyone would be dying to hear the great news. The hotel staff sent them off warmly, and they headed back home. Upon arriving home, Mercedes noticed that Crystal and Jake were waiting for them expectantly. It suddenly clicked in Mercedes's mind that they must have known about the whole surprise. She was obviously the only one who didn't.

Crystal saw the ring on her finger and gasped. She immediately grabbed her hand to inspect the ring.

A big smile spread on her face as she jumped up and down in excitement.

“ Oh my god! Oh my god! He did it!”

Mercedes couldn't help but laugh at Crystal's enthusiasm. Jake also gave Felix a man hug and congratulated him.

“ Congratulations man! I'm so happy for you.”

Felix chuckled, beaming with happiness.

“ No. I am the one who has to thank you. This wouldn't have been possible without your help.”

Crystal squealed, still admiring the ring.

“ So how do you feel? Tell me. You are about to become Mrs Ransom. That is huge.”

Mercedes blushed, flustered.

“ Well, what can I say, Crystal? I'm over the moon. I have to keep pinching myself all the time just to make sure none of this is a dream. It feels like a dream, and it's scary, but I am so happy. Words can't describe how happy I am.”

Crystal started to get emotional. She pulled Mercedes into a hug, holding her tightly.

“ It's no dream alright. It's very real and you deserve this. I'm so happy for you,” she sniffled. She pulled back and put her hand on her cheek affectionately.

“ You know, you're just like a sister to me. As the older one, my heart swells with joy to see you finally getting the happiness you deserve. All I want for you is to always remain happy with the people you love.”

Mercedes held back her tears. Crystal's words touched her heart and she was happy to have her as an older sister. It meant a lot to her. She was happy to be surrounded by love and family. She couldn't ask for anything more from life.

“ Thank you, Crystal. I'm glad to have you as my sister.”
