The drive to the hotel was comfortable as the car smoothly glided through the city streets. Mercedes was sitting in the passenger seat, her leg bouncing up and with anticipation and excitement. Felix told her that it was just a date, but to her, something felt off. Not knowing what the whole mystery was within the guise of a date, Mercedes couldn't help but be nervous. Felix seemed to be lost in his own world while driving, and he didn't notice that Mercedes kept stealing glances at him.

Despite Jake assuring him about the preparations, he was still nervous about it. Nothing could go wrong. He wanted everything to go as planned. The stress was suddenly making him regret organizing the whole thing at the hotel. It would have been simpler at home, where he could monitor everything, he thought to himself. But there was no turning back now. He just hoped that nothing would prevent him from proposing.

Mercedes started to wonder what Felix's plan was. She wanted to ask him about it, but she refrained from doing so. Felix wouldn't tell her anything so far because he wanted to surprise her so she wasn't going to get in his way. Whatever he had planned for her, she was confident it was something good and she would like it.

Soft music played in the background, breaking the stillness. Mercedes turned her head and stared out of the window. Her eyes were focused on the scene outside as the car passed. The city lights blurred as the car moved. The scenery was beautiful and Mercedes was enjoying the city night lights after a very long time. She didn't realize that a night in the city was just what she needed. With the wind hitting her face, she felt alive taking it all in.

Felix snapped out of his thoughts and realized that he hadn't said anything to Mercedes for a while. He worried that she would start feeling ignored and lonely, which was not his intention. He glanced over at her, with a small smile on his lips.

“ Hey, are you okay?” he asked her, placing his hand on her knee.

Mercedes turned her head to face him, her eyes meeting his. She smiled back and replied,“ I'm okay.” Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper.

Felix was relieved to hear that. He gently squeezed her knee. His touch made her body shudder and her heart flutter.

“ Alright. Don't worry. We will get there soon. Just hang in there for a little while.”

After reassuring Mercedes, his eyes turned back to the road. Mercedes also turned to continue enjoying the outside scenery as her thoughts were occupied by the anticipation and curiosity of the evening ahead. The silence that followed was comfortable as Felix focused on driving them to their destination.

After a while, the hotel came into view and Felix felt his nerves kick in. He suppressed all the negative feelings that were starting to surface and cleared his mind. His focus would be on making sure that Mercedes had a good time up until the moment of the proposal. He couldn't let his nerves and bad thoughts sabotage his plans for the night.

He mentally calmed himself down before looking at Mercedes, who's attention was still looking out the window.

“ Mercedes, love. We are here,” he announced, pulling up to the entrance of the hotel. Mercedes looked outside and her eyes widened a little as she took in the sight of the hotel's grand entrance.

“ Is this it?” Mercedes asked in disbelief. She has never been to any hotel, but now she has come to a luxurious 5-star hotel. It was a bit much to take in. They hadn't gone inside yet, and she felt like she was currently living in a fairytale like a princess who had just arrived at the castle. She couldn't contain her excitement. Felix noticed the sparkle in her eyes, and he smiled to himself.

“ Come on. Let's go inside,” Felix said. He quickly got out of the car and went around to open the door for Mercedes. He gave her his hand to help her get out of the car. They walked around the car approaching the entrance of the hotel. Before going inside, Felix handed the car keys to the valet before leading Mercedes through the doors of the hotel. As she had imagined, the hotel interior was exquisite. Mercedes felt as if she had stepped into another world.

Her eyes couldn't stop looking around, taking in the beauty and luxury in awe. The floor was covered in a red carpet in the path leading to the receptionist. Felix escorted her to the reception and inquired about their reservation. The receptionist smiled politely before checking for the information on her computer.

“ Oh, yes. There is a reservation under the name of Mr Felix Ransom. Table for two on the terrace and a presidential suite for the night. Everything is ready for you, sir. ”

“ Thank you,” Felix said as the receptionist handed him the suite key card. “ We are looking forward to a wonderful evening.”

The hotel staff were told about the proposal, but were instructed not to mention it, so the receptionist smiled and nodded her head, signaling Felix that all the arrangements were in place. Felix was relieved to know that nothing was out of place. One of the staff members escorted Felix and Mercedes to their table spot on the terrace.

“ Here you are sir, madam. Have a wonderful time,” he said politely before leaving. No one was around. It was a private dinner for two. Mercedes's heart couldn't take all the surprises she was getting. Felix was going all out for her. She didn't even know that they were going to be staying overnight in a presidential suite, and she wasn't even prepared for it. Her mind was still trying to process everything that was happening around her.

She was utterly speechless. If this was Felix's way of surprising her, then she was pleasantly surprised. Her eyes were shining with happiness.

The terrace was stunning. The table was set for two, rose petals scattered on the floor with small candles that were lighting up, casting a beautiful glow. On the table, there was a bottle of champagne in a bucket full of ice and a box of chocolate accompanied by a beautiful bouquet of lilies and tulips. Felix picked up the bouquet and handed it over to Mercedes.

“ Here are some flowers for someone special,” he said, and Mercedes took the bouquet, her hands shaking.

“ I can't believe you did all this for me. This is too much,” she said, her voice cracking with emotion.

“ I don't know what to say. Thank you wouldn't be enough.”

Felix smiled, shaking his head.

“ The night has just begun. It's not the time for you to get emotional or say thank you yet,” he said, taking her hand in his and bringing it to his lips, pressing a soft kiss on the back.

“ Trust me. This is what you deserve and more. I could not be more grateful that you are the woman who is with me at this moment. I am the one who can't thank you enough for everything you have done. So save the tears for later. Right now, I want us to enjoy a meal, under the stars and the moon and enjoy each other's company.”

Overwhelmed with emotions and unable to speak, she nodded her head with a smile on her face. Felix led her to the table and pulled out a chair for her like a gentleman and tucked her in. Thankfully, the night was pleasant, with a soft and soothing breeze, just perfect for dinner on the terrace. Felix took his seat across her, his eyes locked with hers. He was only filled with love and adoration for the woman in front of him, and he wanted more than anything to make her his wife. His nerves and worries just melted away when he looked at her beautiful face. There was nothing going to stop him from making her, Mrs Ransom.
