Two months after everything, Felix gathered the courage to finally bend the knee and ask Mercedes to take his hand in marriage. The only thing that was left to do was for him to ask Mercedes to marry him. A few days after Mercedes woke up, he started preparing for the proposal. He was planning everything by himself, afraid that another person would talk and ruin the surprise. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't very good at being discreet because Jake caught him fully engrossed in paging the ring catalog on his phone. It was done. He couldn't hide it from Jake anymore. When he pressed him for the truth, he ended up spilling the beans to Jake. Now he was the one assisting him with the set-up. He was kind of glad he was caught because only god knows how he would manage to pull off a surprise on his own. He didn't even know where or how to begin.

It was the day he was planning on finally proposing to Mercedes, and he woke up early, leaving her in the bed to make final touches to his set-up. He had been acting strange and, of course, Mercedes caught on to it. He couldn't help himself. He was such a nervous wreck and constantly needed to check if everything was ready. It was driving Jake crazy. He was also having a hard time keeping it a secret from Crystal. Jake trusted Crystal could keep a secret but mistakes happen. He couldn't risk Crystal slipping up in front of Mercedes out of excitement and ruining the surprise. So he had to keep it to himself because he didn't want Felix to be disappointed. Jake had to admit he had never seen Felix go through so many emotions in a long time, and he wanted his plan to go smoothly, without a hitch.

Jake was happy for Felix and that he was finally taking the big step forward in life. He couldn't deny that the thought was also in his mind. There was nothing stopping him from marrying Crystal. He wanted to, and he was going to, but this time was Felix's moment. His moment was yet to come and Felix promised to return the favor when the time came for him to ask the big question.

“ Have called the hotel? Are you sure that you made a reservation? Maybe you should give them a call and check so-”

Jake shook his head in frustration. He was about to lose his mind. Felix was a mess and was constantly asking for details about the preparations.

“ I have sent you the message, man. They have confirmed the reservation. How could anything go wrong? For the millionth time, you have to relax. I swear that nothing is going to go wrong with the preparations we made. Everything is set and ready.”

Felix let out a sigh and relaxed, but for some reason his heart kept beating like a drum in his chest. He was unable to calm down. Not until everything gets executed perfectly. Not until he proposes and he gets his answer. Even though he was certain that Mercedes loved him and wouldn't say no to his proposal, the smallest possibility of her rejecting him was scaring him. What if she does reject his proposal? What then? Does that mean it's over for them? Does that mean Mercedes doesn't love him enough to want to officially be his wife?

Felix shook his head. He was overthinking, and it was not good for him. If he starts thinking negatively, then his plans would surely fail before he can even implement them, which was not an option. There was no room for failure. No matter what the outcome was, Mercedes was his and his alone. Marriage is just a formality as they already accept each other, love each other, live together and already have a child together. So nothing could go wrong.

“ Alright, I get it,” Felix said.

“ You'll forgive me for nagging you, but I just want everything to be perfect. Nothing can be an obstacle to my proposal. I was just trying to make sure of it, but I overdid it. Please understand me.”

“ It's alright, man. I understand that you must be nervous, but you have to get a grip on yourself. If you don't, you will end up messing your own proposal.”

Felix agreed with what Jake was saying. If he let his thoughts rub wild and carry him away, he was the one who was going to fumble in the end. He cleared his head and focused on the mission.

“ You are right, man. I had better go and start getting ready. I don't want to be late. Mercedes should be getting ready as well by now, so I should not delay anymore.”

Felix got up and was about to leave the office, but Jake stopped him.

He sighed and removed the small leather box from his pocket.

“ Aren't you forgetting something already?”

Felix took the box from his hand, relieved that Jake had it and reminded him about it. He was about to go without it. Had he forgotten, then everything would be pointless.

“ The whole night won't be successful if you forget or lose this somewhere. It's the main event. Be careful with it,” Jake teased him with a mischievous smirk on his lips.

“ Thank you brother. Let me treat you to a night of drinks when I get back with the good news. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to pull this off. I owe you one.”

Jake smiled.

“ Boys night, it is. It's a date I look forward to. Now, get out of here before you get late. Don't keep Luna waiting.”

Felix hurried and went to get ready for the night. There was no turning back now. He calmed himself down so he could remain clear-headed. The night he planned was going to be the best night of their lives. Hopefully it would be spectacular and the best night of Mercedes's night. After dressing up in a tux and getting his hit back, neatly, he put on Mercedes's favorite cologne. She often compliments him when he puts it on, so it should do the trick. He looked at his appearance in the mirror, and he was satisfied with the way he looked. He only hoped that Mercedes loved what she would see as well. He checked the time on his wristwatch, and it was about time for them to head out. He took a deep breath in front of the mirror.

“ It's time, Felix. This is the moment you have been waiting for the past two months. Everything is ready, and you just need to follow the plan. It will all be alright, and she will be yours completely after tonight. Don't mess it up.”

After the little pep talk, he headed out to wait for his date for the night. He checked his pocket once again to make sure that the box with the ring was in his pocket. After confirming that it was with him, he relaxed and waited for the lady of the night to come out.
