Chapter 79 Any Week.
Lily's pov.
I woke up to the small kicks of my babies, waking me because of hunger.
My stomach makes an awkward sound, rumbling slightly making me cringe before I slowly get out of bed.
I look over and see Creed is still peacefully sleeping, turned away from me.
I grab his phone off the dresser and search for Alex’s number.
When I find it I send her a quick message letting her know it’s me and I want to see her.
Surprisingly her message comes back almost instantly and she lets me know to come to her room.
I slip a loose shirt on with sweatpants and quietly leave our room, making my way to Alex.
As I stood outside of her door I slowly lifted a hand and knocked.
The door opened and revealed somebody who is definitely not Alex.
“Hello,” I say, “is Alex around?”
“Yes, she’s in the bathroom. Come in,” she says, opening the door wider for me to enter. I step around her and look around.
“I’m Beatrice, Alex’s mate,” she says suddenly, sticking a hand out towards me with a smile.
My eyes widened as I realized something, this is BEATRICE, that one woman from the midnight dance club, back when I first met Creed.
“Beatrice! We’ve actually met before! I know I must look different but you don’t!” I start to say excitedly, “my name's Lily, I don’t think I had the chance to tell you back then. Alex is my mate's sister.”
She squints her eyes and takes a closer look at me, eyes widening at the realization, “wow! Yes, I remember you now. I knew immediately that you sensed your mate that night, the way your attention diverted so fast, made it obvious,” she laughs.
“So no hard feelings?” I say, laughing too, “I was actually having fun that night! The first time I breathed that way in a long time, I thank you for being a part of it.”
“Of course! I understand completely. I’m not a shifter, I’m a witch, magic yielder, whatever you want to call me. Alex found me in the human town, I was just minding my own business when I felt eyes on me, I turned around and there she was. The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,” she whispers the last part with a smile.
I smile too, knowing the feeling of finding your mate.
“She whispered, mate. She sounded so sad. Something tightened in my stomach, an anxious feeling, I thought I could see the repulsion in her eyes. It looked like she wanted to run away but I grabbed her hand… and as soon as we touched the sparks were there, real, undeniable,” she explains with a small smile, probably having a hard time thinking of it again.
“Are you telling people about the way we met again?” I hear Alex shout from the bathroom, “she’s not telling you the whole truth! She never does!”
Coming out of the bathroom with wet hair, Alex walks over and gives me a big hug.
“I’m sorry, I needed the shower, badly,” she laughs, glaring at Beatrice.
“So, I see you two introduced yourselves to each other?” She says, looking between the two of us.
“Actually… we’ve already met. Back when I first met Creed,” I say with a smile.
“Oh!” Alex laughs, “that’s great, I’m so glad you like each other!”
“So, do you plan on hiding your mate in your room forever or are you actually going to introduce her to Creed?” I ask, killing the mood instantly.
Alex gives me a guilty look, turning her head away with a sigh, “it’s not even Creed I’m worried about… it’s my father. He’s just- he doesn’t even do anything anymore. He’s a shell of himself, I’m scared about how he’ll react to this.”
“Don’t be scared, Alex. This is a wonderful thing, I’ll be there no matter what,” I reassure her, rubbing a hand along her arm.
“Thanks, Lily. I don’t know what I’d do without you,” she whispers with a small grin on her face, “enough about us, you wanted to see me?”
“Oh, yes. There’s a lot that’s happened recently. We’ll need to discuss it sooner than later,” I say, a frown on my face.
“Well, tell me now,” she urges, looking worried.
“Okay, okay. First things first, Hades is dead… and so is my father,” I mutter, looking her in the eyes.
“They are both dead?” She says with wide eyes, “how is Hades dead?”
“Midnight, the one who saved me from the underworld… She killed him with an enchanted sword. Jason is her mage and they’re the rulers of the underworld now,” I reply, a small smile on my face.
“Wow,” she whispers, “that’s a good thing though, one less thing to worry about.”
“That’s not all,” I mutter, not meeting her eyes, “war is coming.”
“Wait,” Beatrice cuts in, “war is coming? How do you know?”
“Creed had a vision. It’s not good, we don’t know who’s coming or when. We just have to prepare ourselves,” I answer.
Alex rubs a hand down her face, mumbling words I can’t understand.
“You don’t know who is coming?” She says, looking unsure.
“No. We have no idea. We’re not even sure why or how Creed had the vision,” I say surely, not knowing what else I’m sure of.
“I’ll do whatever I can to help, I was a warrior witch in my coven before it was attacked, sadly, I was the only one who made it out alive,” Beatrice says sadly, Alex giving her shoulder a small squeeze of reassurance.
“I really appreciate that, we need all of the help we can get,” I sigh as I sit down in a chair, my ankles needing a break.
Alex laughs slightly while taking a seat across from me.
“How’re my babies doing?” She asks while smiling at me, waiting for my answer.
“MY babies are doing well,” I laugh, “they’re still growing rapidly… my grandmother thinks they could be born any week.”
“Any week!?”
