Chapter 95. The Alpha of the South
Prince Vincent
" Everyone! Please welcome the son of our great Alpha King! Prince Vincent of the Royal pack!"
Alpha Ace, the leader of the wolves living in the Southern Region shouted my name as if he has known me since birth. The smile played genuinely in his lips as he raised his glass on top of the long wooden table.
The twelve top members of his pack sat down with us in a formal dinner. Just a few hours ago we have arrived at the borders of his territory and is being asked a few questions to identify ourselves. His pack has strong armies that surrounds the area and keeps his wolves safe.
I could say that I am a little bit impress on the strength of his wolves base on how they stand strong and powerful against the possible invaders outside the territory.
"Thank you! Please, you could all sit down and enjoy the food and drinks that Alpha Ace provided for us. I am happy and honored to be here in the name of my father Alpha King Jack Langston of the Royal Pack, I come in peace and hope to enjoy my friendly visit."
I stood up and raised my glass towards Alpha Ace who nodded his head in unison with the beautiful woman that sits beside him. His mate, there's no doubt since they both have the same scent.
"I am grateful for your visit my Prince! and very glad that the alliance with your father stays strong and keep us indispensable against our enemies."
The wolves sat down first while we are left standing. Even my two companions, Alex and Caleb keep the smile on their faces while holding the glass of wine in both their hands. The two knew that anything could happen. We might appear to be friendly and warm with each other at the moment, however we have not stated yet the main concern of our visit.
"I feel the same way, Alpha Ace. My father and I is happy to know that you are always with us."
"Very well then, let us enjoy the food your majesty and discuss the purpose of your visit after you and your army of wolves have relinquished your strengths from the long journey."
We both clink our glasses and drink the red liquid inside before we decided to join the others sitting beside the table.
The wine tasted good and the food which is served on the table looks very delicious and mouth watering.
My eyes notice how Alpha Ace help himself in a very dignified manner while eating. His mate who stays at his side focused on what's inside her plate too. I could not think of a way why he would cast away the family of wolves which used to live in his pack.
He seemed to be a very caring Alpha towards his pack. Alex and Caleb enjoys their food while I listen to the music playing softly in the air. The movements of the servants inside the huge dining hall is in tune with the melody of a piano music that reminds me of classic restaurants back in Europe.
The dinner was over when it's almost nine in the evening. My warriors was guided by one of the pack's army into the place where they can rest.
"Your majesty, why don't you let your warriors get some rest while you and I get something to drink in my wine bar."
Alex moved forward to whisper something against my ear.
"I don't think that's a good idea your majesty. We need to stay beside you at all times."
"It's alright, Alex. You and Caleb, join the others in the pack house. I will need to have a word with Alpha Ace alone."
This might be the right time to learn all I can from the issue that we have in our hands.
"Take care your majesty, we will be waiting for your presence."
I nodded my head to them while they departed into one of the doors.
"My mate Kyla won't be joining us your majesty, please excuse her presence."
Alpha Ace turned towards the beautiful woman beside him in a formal white dress. She smiled at me before she spoke.
"Please enjoy yourselves majesty, I could stay up in normal days but now that we are expecting a pup. I need to go ahead of you."
She paused to look at her stomach which is not really showing big through her silky gown.
"Oh, that's alright of course. Do get some rest Luna Kyla and thank you for the warm welcome in your pack."
That explains the smell of two wolves coming out off her. She must be pregnant with twins if I am not mistaken.
Alpha Ace bowed a little and planted a soft kiss to her forehead before she walk away with one of the servants beside her. The size of their Alpha house is nothing if compared to the Langston Palace but it has its own unique structure that made it look luxuriously built for modern times.
The smell of wooden furnitures carved and skillfully made tells me that the household would not easily crumble through rain and snow.
"Let's go to my office your majesty, my Beta is already waiting for us. Let us open a fresh bottle of wine that is made from my distillery."
"Oh my, that explains the fresh scent of fruits that sometimes hit my nose Alpha. You have good business in here."
He let out a soft chuckle, while he lead the way into a huge double doors. Alpha Ace, stood for maybe two inches above me six foot and just a few inches taller than me. However, I am still growing every year with a few inches more and I will be taller than him sooner or later.
"Just a little bit of business to keep us live a lavished life. But it's nothing compared to the family fortune of you father the Alpha King."
I could sense a little bit of jealousy hidden discreetly in his voice. Maybe, it felt difficult for him to admit the greatness of the other alpha. My own father knew the facts, there are other alphas out there who envy him. Some would want to take his place at any moment of weakness he might show.
"Yes, Alpha Ace my father must be the most fortunate Alpha when it comes to richness and power. However, he lost his mate, the love of his life. And just like what our old wizard says, that with great power comes great responsibility and sometimes it takes a sacrifice to succeed."
His laughter echoed through the halls when he heard what I just said.
"I like that, you are still young but so full of wisdom."
We stood at the front of a huge double door that is well polished and shining. He did not raised his hand to knock, the door opened wide and a tall dark haired man greeted us.
"Good evening Alpha Ace and Prince Vincent, please do come in."
"Leopold! Thank you for waiting. Just as I expected, come my Prince let us discuss the matter over a glass of wine."
The smell of wine, yeast and wood in different types have assaulted my nostrils as soon as we get in. The place is huge full of bottles with red and clear liquid inside. There is another door that's open which showed the view of stairs going downward.
That maybe leads to the place where they creates the wine and other drinks that they are making. His beta lead us to a small table beside the wall with a huge painting of wolves hanging above. My eyes admired how the paint captured the real image of the huge wolf with a very thick fur in dark brown coat.
"Have a seat your majesty, Leopold is now getting us the best bottle of wine that we have downstairs."
He motioned his hand to make me sit on the wooden chair before he sat opposite me.
"I like the painting, is that your wolf form?"
I asked genuinely admiring the canvas hanged in the wall.
"No, that's my great grandfather. The painting is hundred of years old."
The smile on his lips faded as his face stared into the blank space remembering the past. His old folks must have died, since him and his mate are the only ones being introduced to me.
"I apologize if I have stirred some sad memories."
"Oh no, it is alright. It was a good painting which reminds me of my family's lineage. You have nothing to worry about your majesty."
I nodded my head and turned my gaze to the footsteps I heard approaching.
"Alpha Ace, I've brought the finest since we have an important guest."
His beta came with a huge bottle in his hand followed by a servant that carries a tray with three wine glasses. The atmosphere is good, I could sense that the Alpha of the south did not mean any harm towards me or my warriors.
