Chapter 237
Chapter 237
Sophia ran off to play. Only then did Robert cross over and sit on the sofa.
"Ava, did something happen?"
Ava had been holding it in for so log, and the moment she heard Robert’s concerned voice, the wall of defense in her heart suddenly collapsed.
"Robert, I ran into William. Will he come and take the kids away?"
Robert's expression turned serious.
"He recognized you?"
Ava nodded with red-rimmed eyes. Her mental state was very poor right now, and with the frequent insomnia lately, she was on the verge of breaking down in both mind and body.
Robert felt sorry for Ava and was furious with that man for showing up in Harmony City uninvited and disrupting their peaceful life.
"Don't worry, I'm not a pushover either. If he dares to take the kids, I have more than enough ways to deal with him."
Ava looked up at Robert. She trusted her brother, but she couldn't shake the fear lingering inside her. She cared deeply for her two babies and knew exactly who Sarah was.
If he really takes the children away and they end up in Sarah’s hands, they can forget about having a happy childhood.
She couldn’t bear to think about it.
Her mind was a complete mess at that moment, tangled with fear and worry.
As they talked, no one noticed Samuel on the stairs, listening to every word.
Mommy wasn't happy. Mommy was afraid that the scumbag dad would come to take him and his sister away. This was what Samuel had learned from listening in.
He tiptoed back upstairs to his room, opened his computer, and his little hands began tapping at the keyboard.
At the hotel.
William carefully examined the wind chime he had received from the magazine office. He was now certain it had been crafted by Ava.
No one else could be so skilled, creating pieces even more delicate than those sold inboutique shops.
James had been running around all day and returned with a dejected look.
"Mr. Morgan, today we checked all the areas surrounding Harmony City as well." We didn't find Mrs. Morgan's grave, and none of the deceased named Davis on the lists match the age and gender. Are we looking in the wrong direction?"
William looked at the wind chime in his hand and gave a bitter smile, knowing it could only have been made by her.
"We were definitely looking in the wrong direction. Tell the lawyer to drop the case. We're not suing anymore."
James had been prepared to get scolded while reporting on today’s work, but now he sensed something was off about William. He didn’t scold him at all and, surprisingly, seemed to be in a good mood. He wasn’t even planning to pursue the person who plagiarized Ava’s designs.
"Mr. Morgan, why aren't we suing anymore? If Mrs. Morgan knew about this, she'd be very furious . What she hated most was when her hard work was credited to someone else. Are we just going to let that Mia get away with it so easily?
James thought about it from every angle - this wasn't William's style. Over these years, he had paid special attention to everything related to Ava. This plagiarism incident crossed the line, and by his nature, he would be seeking revenge.
William said slowly,
"Mia... didn't actually plagiarize. She drew those designs stroke by stroke herself, including the drafts we have - they're all her original work."
James was puzzled. Those few drafts by Ava kept in the Morgan Group's safe were Mr. Morgan's most treasured possessions. How could they now be SereneShine Studio's originals?
Suddenly it clicked, and he was startled by the realization that hit him like a wave.
"Mr. Morgan, could it be that Mia is...?"
William nodded with a bitter smile.
"It's her."
For four years, he had searched everywhere for her grave. Now knowing she was living well in another city, the joy in his heart was beyond words.
Even if she ignored him now, just knowing she was alive, had a career she loved, and seemed to be doing well was already enough to satisfy him.
"Have someone courier the property transfer documents to Harmony City. You deliver them to SereneShine Studio and hand them directly to Ava."
James felt William's good mood and found himself infected by it, his own mood brightening.
"Yes, Mr. Morgan."
James agreed and was about to contact his colleagues in Emerald City when his phone started buzzing like crazy in his pocket. He looked and saw it was exactly his Emerald City colleague calling. He simply answered it in front of William.
"James, this is bad - our website's been hacked!"
This was F's second major move after hacking the Morgan Group's clock-in system last time.
The voice on the other end was so loud that William heard it too.
William opened his computer and clicked on their company website. This time, Peppa Pig's whole family popped up, with pigs covering the screen sticking their tongues out at him.
William's brows knotted together, his lungs about to explode with anger. The key issue was this touched on his blind spot - different fields are worlds apart, and he didn't understand networks.
Left with no choice, he called Terry again for help.
"Terry, when can you help me catch F?"
He got straight to the point, saying each word through gritted teeth, wishing he could have that F tied up right now and skinned alive.
On the other end, Terry said with frustration while facing his computer,
"William, don't rush me. This F isn't that easy to deal with. I've already gone a few rounds with him these past days - we're about even. I'm breaking through his barriers bit by bit. Once I break through the last one, I'll know his general location."
William said angrily,
"Break through by tomorrow, and you can pick any jewelry from the Morgan Group!"
Terry's eyebrow lifted slightly. This was indeed a tempting offer. Everyone knew that the Morgan Group's latest pieces couldn't be bought just with money - you needed their premium VIP membership and had to spend at a certain level to even qualify to make an appointment to try to buy them.
This guy had come up with the nasty idea of hunger marketing, raising prices several times over while only releasing a few sets. The socialite circles were fighting tooth and nail over them.
Terry thought to himself, if he couldn't buy from that SereneShine Studio, getting a set from him wouldn't be bad either. This kind of international brand, Amelia would probably appreciate it too.
"William, wait for my news!"
After hanging up, William looked at the pile of pigs on the screen, getting angrier the more he looked.
He had already started planning what methods to use to deal with F once he caught him.
At the very least, he'd tie him up and beat him first to vent his anger, and then tell him that the Morgan Group wasn't something just anyone could bully.
On James's end, he contacted the company's department managers for an emergency video conference overnight. Each department started reporting.
"Mr. Morgan, the finance department system shows no abnormalities and can be used normally."
"Mr. Morgan, the HR department backend system logged in normally with no abnormalities detected."
"Mr. Morgan, the marketing department system is functioning normally with no abnormalities."
...
After going through all the reports and hearing that each department's system hadn't been hacked, which meant the company had no financial losses.
William's heart settled down. He wondered which bastard was messing with him.
They had easily hacked the Morgan Group's clock-in system, the website, and his phone, yet all the company's critical systems were intact without any actual financial losses.
Hacking the Morgan Group's systems without causing real damage - the other party was clearly just here to annoy him.
He figured that this F probably didn't have any major business grudge against him, but was targeting him personally, not the entire Morgan Group.
