Chapter 218

Chapter 218

Lewis truly lived up to being a member of a family that owned a media company - his acting skills were top-notch, leaning his entire weight on Robert.

If Robert weren't worried about him getting close to his sister, he would've loved to stuff him in a trash can.

The few hundred meters to Cascade Haven Hotel took nearly twenty minutes with Lewis dragging him down. Robert had never served anyone like this before. His patience only lasted until they reached the hotel front desk.

Robert's face was recognizable everywhere. When the staff saw him supporting a drunk man with a terrible expression on his face, they quickly came over to help.

"Mr. Davis, do you need assistance?"

"Please take this gentleman back to room 9201, thank you."

Lewis was practically thrown into the staff member's arms by Robert. After the staff member helped him turn into the hallway and disappeared from Robert and Ava's view, Lewis instantly perked up - his head wasn't spinning anymore, his legs weren't weak, and he pushed away the staff member's hands, no longer needing support. The staff member was completely confused.

Lewis grumbled to himself - first there was William, now there's Robert. Whenever he tried to pursue his goddess, there was always some powerful obstacle in his way.

When the elevator doors opened, Lewis froze at the person coming out. Sure enough, you shouldn't talk bad about people behind their backs.

William, dressed in a black suit with a cold expression, made eye contact with him. William didn't seem to have any intention of greeting him.

In business, reputation was everything. Someone who broke a contract halfway through would never get a second chance at cooperation, even if they were old classmates - he couldn't be bothered with them.

At this moment, Robert's voice could still be heard from the elevator entrance - they hadn't gone far yet.

Lewis's heart pounded. He already had Robert as an obstacle in pursuing his goddess. If William joined in, he would have absolutely no chance with her.

Moreover, from his two interactions with Ava, he knew how much she resisted people from Emerald City - or more specifically, that scumbag William. Ava had tricked him into coming to the hotel.. If they ran into each other now, who knows how much Ava would hate him afterward.

William was about to walk past him when Lewis, disregarding the awkwardness of breaking their contract, stepped forward and hugged William.

William froze at his sudden move, then frowned as he smelled the alcohol all over Lewis.

"Let go!"

His tone was ice cold.

He was naturally aloof and hard to get close to. Even with Daniel, who he'd grown up with, he was quite resistant. Being hugged by a grown man, especially one who had just broken their contract and had no credibility, made him feel extremely disgusted.

The elevator entrance was only a few meters from the hotel lobby. If not for the corner creating a blind spot, Ava and William would have run right into each other.

Lewis kept praying for the siblings outside to leave quickly, but things didn't go his way. After counting in his head for a long time, he could still hear Robert and Ava talking.

"Mr. Morgan, I have something to discuss with you. Come to my room."

Lewis blocked him, desperately trying to find topics to talk about.

William seemed to hear something, his eyes constantly glancing outside, warning again,

"Lewis, let me go!"

Lewis was determined not to let him leave. He'd be crazy to let him go and mess up his goddess's life. He wouldn't give this scumbag a second chance to hurt his goddess.

William got anxious and used all his strength to shake Lewis off, his eyes fixed outside as he ran out in big strides.

Lewis wasn't as tall as him. Caught off guard, he was thrown against the wall, nearly having a concussion, but he couldn't care about the pain now.

That scumbag had chased after them.

He must have heard something to run outside so urgently.

After living together for three years, he should be able to recognize her voice, right?

Lewis panicked, regretting why he had to mess with Robert and drag Ava into it. He wanted to slap himself.

William's heart was burning with urgency. Hearing that familiar voice filled him with both shock and joy. When he ran to the lobby and didn't see anyone, his eyes immediately filled with disappointment.

A staff member in the lobby was mopping the floor. He walked over and asked,

"Who was just talking? A clear female voice - who was it?"

The staff member's mind worked quickly.

"Oh, that was Mr. Davis from the Davis Group and his female companion."

"Where did they go?"

The staff member pointed toward the door.

"They just left. You might still be able to catch up."

As soon as the staff member finished speaking, William strode out after them.

Night had completely fallen. When he ran out, he didn't see anyone. A few seconds later, a black Maybach sped past him, spraying exhaust fumes in his face.

William stared blankly at the endless night, a sense of loss spreading through his entire body.

He smiled bitterly. What was he thinking? His wife had already been killed by him. It was just a voice that sounded similar.

He had originally planned to go out for something to eat, but now he changed his mind and wanted to drink.

Inside the Maybach, Ava sat in silence. Just now, she had clearly seen William chase out. With such an outstanding appearance and build, even in the darkness, she couldn't mistake him.

He was much thinner than before, his facial features more defined, making him seem unapproachable.

Thinking of past heartaches, Ava felt unsettled.

She knew she hadn't completely let go of those three years and couldn't face him without any emotional ripples. Right now, hatred defeated affection - she hated his unlimited indulgence of his mistress, and she hated herself for giving him so many chances to hurt her.

Robert's palms were sweating. They had almost run into that scumbag. If that scumbag found out Ava wasn't dead and had safely given birth to two babies, he would definitely try to take the children.

The Morgan family's power was not to be underestimated. He wasn't afraid of that scumbag, but he knew it would be a difficult problem to deal with, requiring some effort to handle.

"Ava, are you okay?"

Robert was worried about Ava's emotions and asked with concern.

Ava shook her head. Her mind was too chaotic to speak. She was afraid William had discovered her presence. Thinking of those hellish days before, her heart clenched tightly.

"Robert, he won't come looking for me, will he?"

"Don't worry, I'm here."

Ava felt somewhat relieved. Robert gave her a sense of security, that feeling of unconditional support made her heart feel warm.

She now had backing, had family - she shouldn't be afraid of anyone. Ava comforted herself with this thought.

Back at the villa, Ava went straight to the children's room.

Both babies were already fast asleep.

As the months passed, the babies' features gradually developed.

Ava looked left and right - her son's eyebrows and eyes were identical to his father's. Her daughter's lip shape also took after her dad.

She stayed with the two children, kissing their little feet, reluctant to leave for a long time before finally going back to her room to wash up.

Her only hope now was for the two babies to grow up healthy. Only the children could calm her down and remind her that being love-brained in the past was one thing, but she was no longer Ava - she was the reborn Mia.

Mia had her own career to pursue, her own family to take care of, and two adorable babies who needed her.
