Chapter 160
William instinctively reached for his pocket to grab a cigarette, but came up empty.
He'd seen her distance and coldness, but had no idea she was already looking for her next guy. She didn't even mind blind dates and was even chatting with someone on Facebook.
She was still his legal wife, yet here she was, brazenly chatting with some blind-date guy right in front of him.
"Are you that desperate for a man?"
Ava knew exactly what he was being sarcastic about. William's controlling nature usually didn't allow her to interact too much with other men. Seeing this kind of text message now, he must be furious. The only reason he was holding back was that they were at the hospital. Anywhere else, she suspected he might actually kill her.
Seeing him so angry, Ava felt an odd sense of satisfaction. Why should she have to listen to him about everything?
"Yeah, desperate for a man."
Right in front of him, she opened the conversation and replied to the message:
[I can accept your conditions.]
Before the message could be sent, William grabbed her arm and dragged her out the door like she was a chicken, using all his strength.
He was really angry. Absolutely furious.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!"
William completely ignored her and dragged her to the car, shoving her into the back seat. The next second, he pressed down on her, biting hard on her collarbone like a bloodthirsty beast.
He's lost it!
Ava struggled with all her might, but her strength meant nothing to him. How could she possibly push away a nearly 6'3" man who was this angry?
William pinned her hands above her head and slowly pulled off his tie, unbuttoning several shirt buttons in the process.
"Want a man? Easy. I'll satisfy you today."
Ava wanted to cry. She never imagined that in a place like a hospital, he could still overpower her like this. If she'd known, she would have kept her head down instead of provoking him.
"William, do you really think this is fun?"
Women need love for sex, and not to mention, she had a baby in her belly. Even without that, she wasn't willing.
They were about to get a divorce. This kind of intimate contact shouldn't happen between them.
William narrowed his eyes.
"Not fun with me, but fun with that Chase guy?"
In her panic, Ava saw the privacy screen slowly rising in the car.
"Let me go, James is still here."
Not only did William not let go, but he also used the tie he'd removed to bind her wrists tightly together.
"He's not that clueless."
He said.
Men have this ability to be perfectly proper in public, then show their true nature behind closed doors.
James, in the driver's seat, couldn't keep pretending to sleep. He'd just been resting for a moment, not even asleep yet. Who knew William would come back with Ava and try to have sex in the car?
He should be under the car, not in it!
James gathered his courage, threw his career to the wind, pushed open the driver's door, and escaped.
Now there were only two people left in the car.
William felt even more uninhibited. He quickly pulled off most of her clothes, one hand roaming over all her sensitive areas.
The tears Ava had been holding back finally spilled over. Humiliation, grievance, unwillingness, fear... all these feelings mixed together made her want to immediately escape this devil and never have anything to do with him again.
"William, this is rape. I can report you to the police!" she choked out, her voice breaking as she warned him.
William was buried in her chest, biting randomly. Hearing her words, he let out a mocking laugh.
"Then go report me!"
After saying this, his eyes fell on her frightened face, and he lost interest.
He glanced over her body.
"You've gained weight."
He said.
He could clearly see she'd developed a little belly, and that her chest had grown quite a bit, too.
Ava gasped for air, not yet recovered from the shock. She couldn't think about what he'd just said, only wanting to get dressed and leave quickly.
But her hands were still tied by him, unable to move, leaving her like a fish waiting to be slaughtered.
Just then, Ava's phone rang. Both of them looked over instinctively.
William saw the contact name was "Grandpa" and answered it directly on speaker.
"Grandpa, Ava's with me."
Hearing William's voice, Howard, who hadn't calmed down yet and hadn't forgiven this jerk, immediately sounded displeased.
"Give the phone back to Ava. Why are you answering someone else's phone?"
William's eyelid twitched.
"Just tell me directly, she can hear you."
Ava controlled her voice and called out "Grandpa," but Howard still heard something was wrong.
"Ava, what's wrong? Were you crying? Tell me what happened, I'll deal with that jerk."
Ava accidentally sniffled, and Howard immediately shouted into the phone.
"William, you troublemaker, what did you do to Ava?"
William rubbed his forehead. He felt like that sniffle was deliberate.
When someone’s been crying, their nose seems to have a mind of its own. Ava couldn't help sniffling again, saying with a heavy nasal tone:
"Grandpa, I'm fine. I'll be back to the ward right away."
Howard couldn't wait any longer.
"William, get over here within three minutes."
After hanging up, William slowly untied her. The two of them tidied up in the car before getting out. James was sitting on a rock not far away, looking like a lookout in a TV drama.
As they passed James, William instructed:
"Clean up the car."
Ava looked embarrassed. They clearly hadn't done anything, but his words made it sound as if he were asking his assistant to clean up the aftermath.
James nodded in acknowledgment, thinking to himself, 'Is Mr. Morgan not performing well? That was only about ten minutes.'
In the hospital room, Howard was propped up against the headboard by Jeremy, his face stern, refusing to eat. Jeremy said that when he came up, he had seen Ava and her unreliable father in the lobby. Worried, he called to check, only to find that in the time he'd taken a nap, this girl had been bullied by that troublemaker again.
He hadn’t even settled the score with that jerk yet either!
Ava and William walked to the room door one after another, hearing Jeremy trying to persuade him:
"Mr. Morgan, please eat something. It's going to get cold."
"Jeremy, let me."
Ava walked in, took the bowl from Jeremy, and sat by the bed to feed Howard.
Howard was holding his anger in, saying nothing, as if he were brewing a storm. His eyes fell on Ava’s arm, where obvious red finger marks stood out against her skin.
"Ava, if you have any grievances, speak up. I'll stand up for you."
At this moment, Ava didn't dare upset Howard. His body had just gone through an ordeal.
"Grandpa, with you looking out for me like this, what could I possibly have to complain about?"
Howard lifted his eyelids to look at William, questioning him:
"Did you make those marks on Ava's arm?"
William kept quiet, not daring to speak. Thinking back, he didn’t feel he’d used that much force.. This woman's skin was just too delicate - it turned red at the slightest touch, like it was made of paper.
That was what he thought, but he didn't dare say it out loud.
Now she'd found herself a good protector.
