Chapter 138

Chapter 138

Fireworks burst over the sea, blooming into a brilliant flower. Then the petals fell, leaving trails of light sliding through the air, like a grand meteor shower.

Ava was completely stunned.

This firework that suddenly exploded before her eyes was like an unexpected surprise. To her, the baby in her belly was the same kind of surprise—bringing light into the darkest, lowest point of her life, and giving her new hope for this marriage she had given up on.

In the distance, new fireworks kept shooting up and exploding in the sky, one after another. The cheers on the yacht were deafening.

Ava felt like her eyes couldn't take it all in—the whole world was filled with dazzling colors.

William watched as she was drawn to the fireworks, their moment interrupted. He looked up too. Women liked these flashy things—even she, who usually had no interest in material things, was no exception.

He thought Ava only liked jewelry. He really hadn't noticed any other hobbies she had.

"You like it?"

He asked.

Ava nodded. What woman didn't like fireworks?

"If you like it, next time we'll come here just the two of us."

The sea breeze was strong, and just then a firework exploded in the sky. William's voice was drowned out by the cheers on the yacht. Ava only knew he had said something, but couldn't hear what.

While everyone was watching the fireworks, no one noticed the woman in a light pink dress with perfect makeup throwing up violently in the public restroom.

Emily held a bag in one hand and a water bottle in the other, extremely anxious.

"Sarah, are you okay? Why have you been throwing up since we got on the boat?"

Sarah felt terrible, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Emily, give me water. I need to rinse my mouth."

Emily quickly unscrewed the cap and handed her the bottle. Seeing how miserable she looked, Emily was really worried.

"Have you eaten something bad these past few days? People who don't know would think you're pregnant, throwing up non-stop like this. You don't know how to take care of yourself. At least let my brother get you a nanny. You can't go on like this—it'll ruin your stomach over time. Tomorrow, when we get back, I'll take you to the hospital. We can't let this continue."

Sarah froze, turning to stare at Emily.

"Emily, what did you just say?"

Emily sighed. "You didn't hear a word I said, did you? I said I'll take you to see a doctor when we get back."

Sarah suddenly smiled.

"Not that part. You said I look like I'm pregnant?"

Emily made a sound of agreement.

"That's how they show pregnancy in TV shows, isn't it? Just like you."

Sarah leaned against the sink, her mood suddenly brightening. How stupid of her—she hadn't thought that she was also a woman who could have children.

She pulled out her phone to check the calendar, unable to remember when her last period was.

She'd been feeling nauseous lately, and once she got on the yacht, she couldn't stop throwing up. So this was why.

She placed a hand on her lower abdomen, thinking back to the time she tricked William into staying overnight at her place. The timing was about right. As long as she insisted the child was his, she firmly believed he wouldn't doubt her on this matter.

Emily watched her mood change and asked in confusion.

"You're not really pregnant, are you?"

Sarah couldn't help but dry heave again. When she recovered, she grabbed Emily's hand.

"Emily, you're probably going to be an aunt. I'll go to the hospital tomorrow to confirm, but I don't think I'm wrong."

Emily's mouth dropped open in an O shape.

"I'm going to be an aunt? Oh my god! What kind of gift should I prepare for my nephew?"

Sarah laughed.

"Look at you, more excited than me. It's not even confirmed yet, and you're this worked up. Like you won't have plenty of chances to give gifts?"

Emily was extremely excited.

"You're still the best. Ava's been married to my brother for three years without any news. My brother definitely never touched her, or she just can't have children."

Sarah's face showed distress.

"Emily, my relationship with your brother is complicated. There's Ava between us, and your grandfather still doesn't approve of us..."

Sarah looked like she was about to cry.

Emily patted her chest.

"Don't worry, leave this to me. My grandfather didn't approve of you two before, but things are different now. You're carrying my brother's child. There's no way a Morgan family child would be left out in the cold. My grandfather may seem stern on the surface, but he has the kindest heart. He'll definitely give you an answer."

Sarah wiped away her tears.

Emily asked again.

"Such big news—does my brother know yet?"

Sarah shook her head. "You're the first person to know."

Emily felt honored.

"Alright then. Such explosive news should be told to my brother by you personally. Trust me, he'll be thrilled out of his mind."

Sarah's heart raced with excitement. She could already picture William's reaction when he found out about her pregnancy. All her unhappiness vanished.

Ava was pregnant too, but didn't dare tell him, right? Even Emily, that big mouth, didn't know. The whole Morgan family was in the dark. Clearly, she wasn't doing so well in the Morgan family either. It was just a temporary show—behind closed doors, William probably didn't even want to look at her.

Otherwise, what reason could make a woman too afraid to tell her own husband she was pregnant?

Sarah was now full of fighting spirit. She couldn't wait to tell William this news.

"Emily, let's go out."

Emily supported her arm, carefully protecting her, afraid any accident might hurt her precious nephew. As they walked, she comforted Sarah.

"Sarah, don't be afraid. What you're carrying is the future heir of the Morgan family. I don't believe that woman, Ava, can cause any trouble now."

As Emily spoke, her face was full of pride. Finally, there was a way to deal with that woman. Best to kick her out, so no one in the Morgan family would compare her to Ava anymore, and Howard wouldn't be so biased as to save seafood for her to eat when she came back.

That woman with no family background or connections—she didn't deserve it.

The fireworks show over the sea had ended. The yacht was filled with laughter and chatter. The guests included Morgan Group employees and their families, as well as some specially invited celebrities and dignitaries.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, holding delicious food, drinking expensive wine, and chatting. Some people had even started ballroom dancing.

Emily and Sarah walked through the crowd. From a distance, they could see Ava holding William's arm, the two of them talking with a distinguished-looking man.

Ava wore a dress with a strong sense of design, a gentle smile on her face, making her look dignified and graceful. Her presence as Mrs. Morgan was unmistakable.

That smile disgusted Sarah to the core. She should be the one standing next to William. Ava had stolen all of this from her.

Sarah's appearance caused a stir of gossip.

"Wait, am I seeing things? Is that Sarah?"

"Oh my god, it really is her. How dare she come here? Isn't she embarrassed?"

"I heard she pretended to be Mrs. Morgan in the design department. How can someone be so shameless? Mr. Morgan and his wife have such a good relationship—they probably don't even know who Sarah is. What delusions."

"I know about this—I'm from the design department. She really did call herself Mrs. Morgan back then. She bossed everyone around at work every day. We all thought she was Mrs. Morgan and were very wary of her. Turns out the real Mrs. Morgan was right there in our department, keeping a low profile. That woman is so modest. Sarah's face got slapped so hard. It's hilarious."

"What other gossip is there? Tell us more."

...

After the plagiarism incident, seeing so many former colleagues again, Sarah no longer cared about how people looked at her, not with the trump card in her belly.

Sooner or later, these people would have to address her as Mrs. Morgan.
