Chapter 171: Becoming the Leader of the Pack?

Chapter 171: Becoming the Leader of the Pack?
Sophia's POV
"Oh no..."
I sobbed in despair, clutching my chest tightly.
Fabian had just finished treating Marcus, and his energy was nearly depleted.
"Mother, is there really no way at all?" He coughed. "Let me go in and take a look."
"Stop, Fabian." Mrs. Ellis's expression was serious.
"Your body has reached its limit. You need to rest properly now."
I suddenly came to my senses and looked at Fabian's terrible complexion.
"Fabian, Mrs. Ellis is right. Will's condition... probably can't be cured in a short time."
I didn't know exactly what had happened before Will fell into a coma, but I could guess it was related to Laura.
Will must have known that Laura had tried to kill me, and that she was the murderer of my mother.
Of course he couldn't accept that his beloved daughter had suddenly become a murderer.
My mother's death had nearly cost him half his life, and now...
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to sense Will's condition through the wolf within me.
Because of our blood relation, I could establish a connection with Will's wolf.
His wolf was dying, its breath very weak, but it was enough.
All three Alphas looked at me nervously.
I forced a smile. "Don't worry about me, everyone. I believe that one day, Will will wake up."
I was Will's biological daughter. I knew he loved me. He surely couldn't bear to let me suffer the pain of losing a loved one.
Over the following days, the three Alphas and I all stayed at the hospital.
Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Frost were getting older, so they only came to the hospital during the day and returned to the villa at night.
During the day, I leaned against Kieran's bedside.
This was his third day in the hospital.
The doctor said that bullet had nearly taken his life, and in the short term, he might not wake up.
Logan walked into the room. He sighed, his eyes filled with heartache.
"Sophia, go rest. I'll take care of him for you."
I looked deeply at Kieran. His handsome face had grown thin.
I shook my head, my voice somewhat hoarse.
"No, I'll stay with him tonight."
Logan couldn't persuade me otherwise, so he had to sit down in a chair nearby.
"All right then. In that case, I'll keep you company tonight."
My mood was somewhat low, and I lowered my eyelids.
"Logan, lately I've been thinking... maybe you all shouldn't have met me."
Logan's face immediately darkened, his expression becoming serious.
"Of course not! Sophia! Clear all that garbage thinking from your mind."
"But..." I was very dejected, my voice getting smaller and smaller.
"Ever since you met me, every one of you has been hurt because of me. It's like a curse."
"No! It's not a curse!"
Logan firmly gripped my hand.
"Sophia, this is the Moon Goddess's test for us. Only those who pass the test can truly have you."
Logan's words made me fall into contemplation.
If it really was the Moon Goddess's test, then now, these four Alphas had already passed the test.
I silently prayed: "Moon Goddess, please let these four Alphas all become my mates. Let Kieran wake up quickly. I need all four of them with me. I can't do without even one."
Just then, warmth suddenly spread through my palm.
My heart pounded wildly. I almost couldn't believe it.
I slowly lowered my head and saw Kieran's fingers gripping my hand.
Oh my God, my prayer really worked!
Kieran slowly opened his eyes.
He murmured, voice terribly hoarse: "Sophia..."
I gripped his hand as tears fell uncontrollably, dropping onto the back of his hand.
"Kieran, from today on, let's never be apart."
Kieran had woken up, Marcus's body had recovered, but Will was still in a coma.
So after discussing it, we decided to send Will back to the villa.
None of the four Alphas returned to their respective packs, but stayed to accompany me.
The bodies left after the fierce battle with Laura had all been cleaned up.
We also discovered Robert's body behind the villa.
He had spent his entire life serving Will loyally and had never even married or had children.
I knelt before his grave and placed a bouquet of white flowers in front of the tombstone.
"Robert, thank you for always protecting my father."
I buried him behind the villa so he could always stay with my father.
During the day, I would push Will outside to get some sun.
At night, I would chat with Will in his room.
I could feel his wolf responding to me. That connection grew stronger day by day.
Fabian also said that when he was treating Will, he could feel his will to live growing stronger and stronger.
One day, after breakfast, I carried a cup of warm water into Will's room, only to suddenly discover that no one was in the bed.
The cup in my hand suddenly dropped and smashed onto the carpet, water spilling everywhere.
I saw Will sitting alone in a wheelchair, gazing out the window.
"Dad, you..."
Will turned the wheelchair and slowly turned around, showing me a loving smile.
"Sophia, my daughter."
I rushed over and hugged him tightly, tears soaking his clothes.
"Thank goodness, you're finally awake!"
Fabian was attracted by my exclamation. He quickly walked into the room.
"Sophia, what's wrong?"
I immediately had Fabian examine Will's body.
After confirming that his body had improved, my tense nerves finally loosened.
Will raised his hand and gently touched my face, his eyes reddening.
"Sophia, I'm the one who wronged you. All along, I trusted Laura too much."
I shook my head and held his hand against my cheek.
"No, you were a victim too."
Will was silent for a moment, then asked, "She... how is she now?"
I hesitated, then answered honestly: "Laura escaped. We're still pursuing her."
I looked at Will with some difficulty.
"Dad, Laura is still pregnant. When we catch her..."
This was a very difficult decision for us. Laura's child was related by blood to both Will and me.
Will sighed, a trace of pain crossing his face.
"Laura isn't pregnant. She deceived us."
I froze. "What?"
"Robert discovered this secret. She pretended to be pregnant to trick me out of all my assets, but I didn't agree to her demands."
"Not only that, she killed your mother and also killed Robert. I can never forgive her."
My lips parted slightly. I was too shocked to speak.
Will gripped my hand.
"Sophia, Laura must face legal punishment. You don't need to consider me. Ever since I learned she killed my wife, she became my enemy."
I saw the sorrow and determination in Will's eyes. It was the most difficult choice a father could make.
I knew he must have struggled internally a great deal before making this decision.
Will gazed at me. "Sophia, can you promise me one thing?"
I nodded without hesitation. "Of course, Dad."
Will revealed a gratified smile.
"I hope you will replace Laura and become the leader of the Blood Moon Wolf Pack."
