Chapter 170: A Matter of Life and Death

Chapter 170: A Matter of Life and Death
Sophia's POV
It was too late! Laura had escaped from the villa under the protection of a group of guards.
So close! I was so close to avenging my mother!
I threw the gun on the ground in frustration and clutched at my hair in annoyance.
"Damn it! I'm useless!"
Laura's guards had all retreated, leaving only corpses scattered outside the villa.
Logan rushed to my side, pulled me into his warm embrace.
"Baby, are you okay?"
His voice was full of concern.
I bit my lip as tears welled up: "Laura got away. It's all my fault. I'm such a waste! I was just one step away, but I let her escape!"
Logan gently stroked my back, his eyes filled with nothing but heartache.
"Don't blame yourself. You did great, Sophia. Don't forget, you personally killed Frank, that villain. He and Laura planned all of this together!"
I turned to look at Frank's lifeless body.
His eyes hadn't closed, and his pupils had already begun to dilate.
Strangely, I felt no fear at all, only a sense of satisfaction from revenge, along with an even deeper hatred for Laura churning in my chest.
After the Ellis brothers had completely dealt with the remaining werewolves, they quickly came to our side.
Theo's fists were clenched so tightly they made cracking sounds, and his handsome face was filled with murderous intent.
"Don't worry, that bitch Laura won't live much longer. I promise you, one day she'll face justice!"
Fabian reminded us: "I've already sent a group to chase after Laura. Right now, the priority is to treat the patients!"
That's right! I suddenly realized, my body trembling.
"Will hasn't woken up yet!"
The four of us rushed into Will's room.
He was still lying in bed, his pale complexion heartbreaking, with a respirator on his face.
Clearly, Laura hadn't given him proper treatment during this time.
Fabian's expression was very grave.
He quickly checked Will's condition, then arranged for several subordinates to come in and carefully lift Will onto a car.
Next, we all went to the hospital.
When Fabian had ambushed Laura, Owen had taken advantage of the chaos to send Marcus to the hospital.
Kieran hadn't returned to the Frost Wolf Pack either.
Under the arrangements of Mrs. Frost and Carl, he was admitted to the same hospital.
When we arrived, they were already receiving treatment in the emergency room.
The door to the emergency room was tightly closed, the red light above it glaringly bright.
We waited anxiously outside the ward, the smell of disinfectant in the corridor suffocating.
The first to come out was the doctor treating Marcus.
When he saw us, he sighed and shook his head with some regret.
This gesture made my heart instantly sink to the bottom.
"Marcus's external injuries aren't the most serious," the doctor's voice was heavy.
"The most serious thing is the silver poisoning in his body. It has penetrated deep into his heart. I'm sorry, there's really nothing we can do..."
My vision went black, my legs went weak, and I almost couldn't stand.
Fabian's arms caught me in time, holding me tightly.
He comforted me gently: "Don't be afraid. I'm here. Marcus won't die."
My breathing quickened with fear.
"Are you confident, Fabian? I'm sorry, I'm not doubting you. I'm just too scared... I can't lose him..."
Fabian gazed at me, his eyes shining with determination.
He reached out and gently wiped the tears from my face.
"I won't let you down, Sophia. Trust me."
With that, he turned and followed the doctor into the room.
The emergency room light came back on.
This entire floor was surrounded by our guards.
Right now, Kieran, Marcus, and Will were all in extremely critical condition.
They were my lovers, my family. I couldn't accept any of them leaving this world.
Theo patted my shoulder.
"Sophia, don't worry. Will will definitely make it through this danger too. I'm going to call my mother right now. She'll agree to treat Will."
"Oh my God..."
"That's wonderful, Theo. Please!"
If Mrs. Ellis could also come to help, their chances of survival would increase.
Now, only Logan and I were left in the corridor.
Mrs. Frost had felt unwell from excessive worry, and Carl had taken her to another room to rest.
Logan held me as we sat on the hospital bench.
His embrace was warm, and my trembling body gradually calmed down.
What followed was a long wait.
Time seemed to freeze, every minute and second an ordeal.
To distract me, Logan softly chatted with me about his experiences during this time.
"Sophia, I'm not joking," his chin rested on the top of my head, his voice somewhat muffled.
"The time without you, I felt like I had already died once. You know what? Every day when I opened my eyes and thought about how you might be suffering, I wanted nothing more than to tear Laura to pieces."
He tightened his arms: "From now on, you can never leave me again."
I hugged him back and promised earnestly: "I promise you, we'll never be apart again."
Then, I suddenly thought of a question.
"By the way, Logan, I'm a bit curious. How did you guys fool Laura?"
Logan smiled: "From the first day you disappeared, we knew about Laura's scheme. So we played along. Fabian joined forces with Mrs. Frost, pretending the two packs were at odds, which made Laura let her guard down."
"Then, Mrs. Frost visited Laura, successfully bringing guards to the Blood Moon Pack. We also mixed in with them, and then we rescued you all."
I suddenly fel relieved.
After everything we'd been through, these alphas had finally grown up.
Although occasionally they still got jealous and competed over me, they had become my solid support, comrades who could fight alongside me.
I don't know how much time passed before one of the emergency room lights went out.
Kieran's doctor came out. He removed his mask, revealing a tired smile.
"Kieran is out of danger."
I cried tears of joy, tears flowing again, but this time they were tears of happiness.
Logan said: "See, everything will get better."
Before long, Mrs. Ellis hurried to the hospital.
Her elegant face was full of seriousness. Without time to say much to us, she went straight to Will's ward.
This time, things weren't so smooth.
We waited all the way until early morning the next day without seeing Mrs. Ellis emerge.
During this time, Fabian had successfully cleared the toxins accumulated in Marcus's heart.
The doctor confirmed that Marcus's condition had stabilized.
But there was still no movement from Will's side, and I began to feel nervous and panicked.
Everyone gathered outside Will's ward.
After another two hours, the sky gradually brightened.
Mrs. Ellis finally came out.
Her face showed undisguised exhaustion, covered in sweat.
Fabian stepped forward to support her: "Mom, how is it?"
She shook her head and looked at me.
"I've done my best."
Her voice was hoarse: "Before Will collapsed, he suffered tremendous trauma. Most importantly, his will to survive is too weak. I can't wake him up."
