Chapter 164 "I Am the Only Princess of the Blood Moon Wolf Pack!"
Chapter 164 "I Am the Only Princess of the Blood Moon Wolf Pack!"
Sophia's POV
"Damn it! Looks like you found out after all!"
Laura's shrill voice suddenly rang out at the doorway.
I jerked my head up, my pupils contracting sharply.
She was holding a black handgun, the barrel pointed coldly at my forehead.
"Laura..." I murmured in disbelief.
Fear flooded through my entire body like ice water. My body involuntarily took a step back, my spine pressing against the table behind me.
Laura walked into the room and raised her hand to slam the door shut with a bang.
The loud noise made my heart lurch violently.
In this moment, all the clues connected.
Those details I had overlooked, those coincidences that didn't make sense, all had answers now.
"It was you... It's been you all along!"
My throat tightened as if gripped by an invisible hand. My voice trembled violently with agitation and fear.
"You sent people to hunt down Marcus and me! You're the one behind it all!"
Laura curled her lips into a contemptuous smile.
"So what if it was? You should have died long ago!"
She suddenly raised her voice, her entire face contorting with rage.
"If it weren't for protecting you, how could Mother have died? You stupid woman! You don't deserve to be alpha. I am the only princess of the Blood Moon Wolf Pack!"
She screamed out the last few words, spittle spraying into the air.
Intense heartache made it impossible for me to breathe.
The wolf inside me began to whimper in pain after hearing the word "Mother." That soul-wrenching cry echoed in the depths of my soul.
I shook my head, tears bursting from my eyes and blurring my vision.
"Why? Laura, why?"
My voice was full of pleading.
"I just wanted to reunite with my family, to be with you all. I never, never thought about competing with you for anything..."
"Bullshit!"
Laura flew into a rage, lunging at me like an out-of-control beast.
She grabbed my hair and yanked my head back forcefully.
I felt like my hair was being torn out by the roots.
Cold sweat instantly soaked my back.
But I had no ability to fight back at all.
"You know what?"
Laura brought her face close to mine, filled with intense hatred.
"If you hadn't come back, everything in the Blood Moon Wolf Pack would be mine! Everything!"
Her eyes were bloodshot with fury.
"Will was more partial to you! Even after I told him I was pregnant, he still wanted to leave half the estate to you! Why?"
The pain nearly made me pass out.
"Calm down... Laura."
I swallowed my dry throat, eyes fixed on that pitch-black gun barrel, afraid she might pull the trigger at any moment.
"I can give up everything, really... Will you let me go? Please..."
I tried to negotiate with her. I could give up Will's inheritance, even give up my identity as a princess.
Laura's expression froze, revealing a look of desperation.
She released my hair.
I staggered back several steps, the stinging in my scalp making me gasp.
"Impossible! It's too late for everything! Because of you, you bitch, Will already knows everything!"
My head buzzed as I suddenly understood it all.
No wonder I hadn't seen Robert today.
After I left the Blood Moon Wolf Pack, Will had promised me he would have Robert thoroughly investigate the real culprit behind the attempts on my life.
He must have already traced it back to Laura and discovered all the crimes she had committed.
So I had indirectly harmed Robert and even implicated my father.
Countless images flashed through my mind.
From the first time Laura and I met, she had already wanted to kill me.
The car she prepared for my departure wasn't meant to help me escape. The car accident on the cliff was also her arrangement.
My legs went weak and I collapsed onto the cold floor.
So there was no way to salvage this anymore.
I slowly closed my eyes, tears sliding down my cheeks.
It seemed I wouldn't be leaving this room alive today.
In my final moments, the faces of four alphas suddenly appeared in my mind.
I really wanted to see them one more time.
However, the expected gunshot didn't sound.
"Laura, you can't kill her!" A man's voice suddenly rang out.
I snapped my eyes open to see Frank had appeared in the room.
He quickly stepped forward and pressed down on Laura's gun hand, stopping her from pulling the trigger.
"Frank, what are you doing? Get out of the way!"
"She's still useful!" Frank said in a low voice.
Laura gritted her teeth, glaring at me viciously.
"No! This is my last chance! Sophia must die!"
Frank's voice carrying a hint of urgency.
"Kieran is right outside the villa! He's big trouble! If the gunshot alerts him, we're all finished!"
Under Frank's persuasion, Laura finally lowered the gun in her hand.
Although I had temporarily escaped death, my heart still hung suspended.
What did Frank's words just now mean?
Laura crouched down and used the gun barrel to lift my chin, the cold metal pressing against my skin.
"My dear sister, I never imagined that a waste like you could attract four alphas to fall in love with you simultaneously."
"However, I'm rather looking forward to those alphas starting another war over you, fighting to the death. Just thinking about it is exciting."
Fear and anger surged through me at the same time.
The person Heyman was loyal to was actually Laura!
This venomous woman! Not only did she want to kill me, she also wanted to destroy the peace between the wolf packs!
I cursed angrily. "Damn it! Laura, your scheme will never succeed! Mmph—"
Laura swiftly pulled out a roll of tape and pressed it hard over my mouth, applying pressure to ensure I couldn't make any sound.
The tape stuck tightly, making it difficult to breathe. I could only gasp laboriously through my nose.
Laura stood up.
"After I deal with this bitch first, you go handle Kieran."
She dragged me out of the room to a hidden stairwell and took me down to the basement level.
It was cold and damp here, the air filled with the smell of mold and decay.
On both sides of the corridor were tightly shut iron doors, like prison cells.
Laura opened one of the doors and shoved me inside roughly.
I lost my balance and crashed heavily onto the cold, hard ground.
Burning pain shot through my palms and knees.
Behind me came a click as the door was locked.
After my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I realized I wasn't the only one in this room.
In a corner not far away, a thin figure was curled up on the ground.
I struggled to sit up and reached to tear the tape off my mouth.
Using my hands and feet, I crawled toward that corne.
By the weak light seeping through the crack under the door, I finally made out the person's face.
"Marcus..."
"Marcus!" I shook his shoulders hard, tears falling.
"Are you still alive?! Marcus! Wake up!"
