Chapter 12
AUDREY POV
I was going to say something very important when the door was flung open and someone walked in and bowed.
“God afternoon Queen Adaline and Princess Audrey. The King awaits you in the throne room. He said that it is an official visit ad he needs you two to be present.” The maid said as my mum quickly glanced at my clothes and said
“Hurry and change your attire, you do not want to anger your father. I will go ahead now.” She said as she left with the guard leaving me behind.
I quickly went to my bathroom where I saw my personal maid folding my clothes and I said to her.
“Get me a suitable gown for the throne meeting. I am in a haste.” I said as she bowed and replied,
“Yes your royal highness.” She quickly helped me to wear the dress and style my hair for me.
After she was done, I quickly left my bedroom in a hurry.
I hurried down the staircase, in my flowing royal gown, as I made my way to the throne room. Oh I am so dead; I am so dead. I muttered as I raced down the last fleets of stairs, as the maids, dusting the objects, moved out of the way to avoid me slamming into them. Not only would I get injured, but their heads would be on the stake.
Immediately, I reached the throne room, I stopped and took a deep breath, I could see some of the palace maids standing outside the door, peeping in, through their secret hole in the wall.
As soon as they saw, me, they stood upright, and pretended that they weren’t doing anything.
What are you guys up to? I asked as I held onto my knees, panting for breath.
Nothing, we aren’t doing anything, we were just cleaning. But Princess, on the other, hand is in so much trouble. The King has been calling you for minutes now, and you know how he is, when he gets cranky. Niera the head of the maids said Era said.
I was in the garden; do you think that he would take that excuse? I asked as she reached for the door handle.
He may take it, but he is in a argument with King Roland of Spain and his son, Prince Luke is also available. They are in there, I believe that they are arguing about someone. Please be careful my princess.” She said as I nodded my head and they opened the door for me to pass through and closed it silently behind me.
Immediately, I entered, the throne room, all eyes were turned on me, before they all rose up except my dad and mum and they bowed at me in unison. I quickly comported myself and walked slowly, without faltering, to where my parents sat.
I reached the front, as I stopped and curtsied.
Good morning, my king. Good morning, mother. I said sweetly, as I stood upright.
Where the hell have you been? King Conrad thundered, his voice reverberating through the throne room.
I gulped as I tried to think of a reasonable excuse when the queen, Queen Adeline helped me out saying;
How do you expect her to reply, when you keep on scaring her with such a harsh voice? Have you forgotten, that she is the heir apparent, and she obviously have a good reason for her to arrive late? My mother replied, admonishing the king, as I nodded my head, agreeing to what the queen said.
Woman, I have told you times without number, do not interfere in anything concerning Audrey and I. I and I alone have the right to decide what I do with my daughter. King Conrad snarled at the queen, as I flinched from where she was.
I hurriedly shut my mouth, and kept mute. It was no use, explaining to her father, was like pouring water on a stone, strong headed, cold hearted, and proud hearted, her father was arrogant, intolerable and easily provoked, never listen to reasons, heartless and not caring.
Next time, I send for you, you are to appear in front of me, within five seconds or you will suffer terribly for standing me up. The king, said as I nodded my head.
Yes, my king. It won’t happen again. I replied, curtsying once more.
Good, now take your seat, I have an important news for you, one that will make you so over joyous. He said gesturing to her seat, situated beside her mother. I went and sat down as she faced the royal council. I noted that some of them, were nodding their head, looking at me, as if they were agreeing about something concerning me. I looked through the crowd, she could see the Ruler of the Western Region, King Tabitha, Ruler of the Southern Region, King Abrad.
I lost myself soon after in the my daydream as I couldn’t understand anything that was spoken.
Princess Adeline, did you hear what I just said? King Conrad asked loudly as I quickly blinked, bringing herself to the present.
Yes, father, did you call for me? I asked sweetly.
It seems that you have started daydreaming again, that silly habit of yours, have to stop, this instant. You are twenty-four for god damned sake, not a baby. Her father cursed as he banged his royal staff, twice on the wooden floor.
Just then, King Tabitha of the worst region. cleared his throat loudly and said,
You don’t need to go all offensive on your daughter, King Conard of course, she heard what you said, she is just trying to process the fact, that she is getting married to me. I must say your daugher looks so beautiful and flawless as well.
I, almost threw up, when I heard it, but was able to control myself, rather she choked on her spit and started coughing.
Excuse me, my kings and esteemed royal council. I am afraid, that I didn’t get what King Tabitha said. I said as she stood up, facing the council.
Well, we agreed that it would be a good idea for you to get married to the king of Southern Isles, as it would strengthen the relationship and cordial support we get from them. King Conard said.
We? As in, mother and you? I asked again, looking to the queen for explanation.
It was all your father’s idea; he is hell bent on getting you married to his son. My hands are tied, after all. Queen Adaline said, as she sighed deeply.
Father, this is all too sudden, I don’t think that…… I started to say, when he raised his hand up, in the air, motioning for silence.
“Silence daughter, I have made up my mind about this already.” He said as he shut me up and I kept quiet. I didn’t want to say anything else so that I wouldn’t risk his rage.
“Okay father.” I said as I kept quiet and the meeting went on smoothly.
UNKNOWN POV
I gasped for air, as the harsh reality woke me up from my daydream, her bones were paining her, she felt it was broken, and by the amount of pains, it was a lot. I groaned as my eyes got used to the light coming in. I had a severe headache as I tried to remember what happened.
That girl? She was here, she breathed royalty. She broke the curse. I was free. After a thousand years, I am finally able to walk the earth once more.
I tried to move but I fell down, I pushed the chains that was holding my legs still for a long time. Before the silver burned me, but now it didn’t hurt because her blood was used to free me. I removed the chains from my hands and I crawled outside for the first time. I was finally able to see the world, and it had changed. The villages that used to be here had been gone. All that surrounded the cave was woods. I breathed in a fresh breath of air and saw that I had blood dripping down the floor.
I had a lot of bruises, my clothes were stained with my blood, and my bones were broken. I shut my eyes as I remembered when the witch said such horrible curse.
I heard a voice which startled me, and just as I turned to see, what it was, the voice screamed, her voice piercing through every nook and cranny nearby. Quite unfortunate for her to be the one who sees me, I was hoping to see that girl, first but I didn’t have much of a choice now. I quickly got on my feet and rushed at her biting my claws into her neck and I drank her blood.
I was so hungry, I couldn’t care less if I was feasting on a human or not. After all they were all meat. I have been turned into a monster the day that witch destroyed my life and I wouldn’t stop till I get what is mine again. This will be the day I mark my revenge.
