Chapter 8 Proposal....I said Yes
\[Vayra's POV\]
The next few days went smoothly. After the last session with Damon, he gave me relaxation. We both came to our own house or you can say Damon's aunt, aunt Neol's house and started living together. Aunt Neol was busy with pack business, while his four brothers — the ones I still haven’t met — were surgeons, always tied up with their hospital work. In their free time, they loved riding bikes as a hobby.
As for me, I’ve started living with Damon now, and I haven’t heard anything from my dragon pack. My mom has been silent too. I wonder what she’s doing alone — maybe she’s happy and free. These days my life become much easier, not as lonely as it once was. It's nice to know that you can count on everyone here even though they are not always there at the same time. I'm thankful.
Today is Saturday so it's free. It's not like I have a lot of work to do but today I decided to just sit and read a book since I've finished one already. Maybe tonight we can go back out somewhere to do something fun. I am sure Damon would love that.
He have been gone for two whole days so I miss his presence. Sometimes being by myself isn't such a bad thing. It gives me space to think about things without having to worry about anything else. But now I start missing them.
Suddenly, my phone blinked. I reached out to check the notification — You have 5 minutes to get ready. We’re going to dinner ~ Damon.
My eyes widened. Five minutes?! Panic rushed through me. I tossed the book aside, nearly knocking it off the bed, and bolted for the shower. The water hadn’t even warmed up yet, but I didn’t care — I just needed to move fast. My heart raced as I tried to wash and think at the same time, wondering where Damon was taking me this time.
We are going to eat somewhere, maybe at the restaurant or even the beach. The weather looks good for it. After showering, I get dressed and put my hair up into a bun. I put makeup on too and make sure that every part of my body is covered up enough so that no one will see what I've been doing.
That's when I checked my reflection in the bathroom mirror one last time. I look like a human. A very pretty human. My eyes looked brighter than usual. I smile softly. It's because I feel more energetic. I have a feeling about this evening. I picked up my bag then went downstairs and waited for Damon by the entrance door. He finally reached home to greet me.
"Good evening sunshine!" he greets me while giving me an enthusiastic kiss and hugging me. "Ready?" He asks, smiling.
I nod.
"Okay, let's go." I hold his arm and give him a light smile before we walk outside. He opened his SUV door for me and I hopped in. He started his car and I started enjoying the ride, not seeing where actually we are going until he parked the car in front of his apartment.
"We were going for the dinner, right?" I looked at him and he smiled, not saying a word. He took my hand and we walked inside his apartment. There were candles on the tables, a bottle of wine, and a basket filled with bread, cheese, fruits, and cheeses. Also a pot with pasta.
He took off his shoes and laid the food on the table. The smell of cooked pasta immediately made me hungry but the other things didn't.
"What is that?" I asked confused. "You said you were taking me out for dinner. What is all this?" I frowned. That didn't seem like Damon. I thought that it was going to be something romantic. This wasn't his style at all.
"Shh. Let's get ready to enjoy ourselves first." His voice was soft and soothing. He walked over to me and gently grabbed my face, making me turn towards him. He pecked me on the lips and pulled away to take me out of my surprise.
I felt butterflies flying through my stomach as I watched him take something out of the cabinet, put it on the table, and pour us glasses of wine. He sat down across from me and held out his glass for me to clink to. I gladly did the same.
"Since you accept our love I thought I should propose to you now officially," he winked at me and I blushed.
"So will you marry me?" He asked and I started looking down, feeling shy. I don't know what to say. "I mean yes, but we just started dating and..."
"Wait, wait, hold it. Hold it. You're saying yes?"
I nodded, blushing again.
"You'll marry me? Seriously? Yes? Wow! Okay, that's great news! Thank god. I was afraid you wouldn't like me. So... do you want some food now or after?" I blushed again and shook my head.
He laughed lightly and reached for another piece of bread from the basket. He offered it to me and I smiled. He smiled too and then proceeded to eat his slice of the cheese pizza.
After that, we started eating. He talked while I listened while trying to eat. We talked and ate. When we finished, he took out his guitar and played. I watched him play in contentment as he continued to sing and smile softly, almost dreamily looking down as if he didn't want to break the moment.
I could tell from the way his fingers moved on the strings how much he cared about playing. I loved music and I loved watching him play. He had such a nice voice. It reminded me of a beautiful song I heard once but couldn't remember which one. Then I suddenly recalled. It was from an old folk song called "Song of the Blue Bird". It sounded amazing.
I couldn't help but feel so happy. This was the most wonderful experience ever. I never thought Damon would be able to play something like this. I never thought he could play something other than his old violin. Now I am sure that this is how wolvess normally live. But then again, why can't he be a musician? Why can't he be a pianist, a singer, an orchestra director, or anything else? Why he is a doctor? I was lost in my thoughts, I didn't when he finished singing and sat beside me.
