Chapter 62 Social Media Venture

Chapter 62 Social Media Venture

"Me, start a social media account?" Emily stared at Zoey, a freshly washed mango still in her hand.

Zoey held her phone out to Emily, screen displaying the comment section of the Fruit Leather video. "Love this recipe!" "Want to see more!" "Your hands are so beautiful!" The comments filled several screens.

"See? People really appreciate your skills. I think you'd be amazing at this," Zoey said enthusiastically.

Emily silently studied the comments, mentally calculating the possibilities. If she became a content creator, wouldn't earning money become easier?

Food content creators were everywhere these days, and she wasn't sure she had a competitive edge. But with Zoey's support, the path to popularity seemed much more accessible. "Personal chef for client with eating disorder" would definitely make an attention-grabbing headline—if Zoey didn't mind.

"Zoey, I'm your housekeeper. Are you sure you're comfortable with me using that identity for content?" Emily looked up, her expression cautious. "Especially highlighting the eating disorder angle—wouldn't that make you uncomfortable? And if there's negative feedback later, we should have a plan for dealing with it."

She didn't want her account to cause any trouble for Zoey.

Zoey smiled and took back her phone. "I don't mind. If it becomes your ticket to followers, I'd be thrilled! Think about it—your account's specialty is nutritional meals for a client with an eating disorder, and my specialty is actress with an eating disorder doing mukbangs. We could drive traffic to each other's accounts. Win-win, right?"

Emily's eyes lit up. Zoey's thinking aligned perfectly with hers.

"Exactly!" She put down the mango, excitement building. "We could create complementary content. I could make a video about designing menus for people with eating disorders, and you could talk about how your appetite improved after eating our housekeeper's food. This strengthens both our personal brands while creating a content loop that feels authentic to viewers. I can also share tips on selecting ingredients and low-fat cooking methods that would appeal to health-conscious people and parents, expanding our audience."

The two immediately clicked on the idea. Emily posted the Fruit Leather video Zoey had filmed to her own account, including a detailed recipe with every step clearly explained.

These were sales techniques she'd learned in her previous career—always use a customer-oriented approach to retain followers.

Zoey commented on the video.

[Emily's skills are amazing! Follow her for more delicious and healthy recipes coming soon!]

Overnight, Emily gained over three hundred followers, with more than twenty people messaging her asking if she could "create soft desserts suitable for elderly people."

She responded to each message and noted these requests in her notebook, marking : [Future content direction: senior-friendly desserts.]

The next day, Emily prepared a mango custard boat for Zoey's livestream. She'd found the idea online, and the presentation was adorable.

She arranged layers of mango puree and custard in a clear glass boat-shaped dish, then topped it with whipped cream flowers and two bright red cherries. She decorated the sides with chocolate sticks and wafer cookies, and placed a small cake bear in the center.

Zoey filmed as Emily focused on adjusting the bear's ears, a subtle smile playing on her lips.

"Emily, your skills are incredible!" Zoey couldn't help exclaiming. "When I watch other food creators make desserts, everything looks so complicated. How do you make it seem so effortless?"

"Just practice," Emily explained while placing the custard in the refrigerator to chill. "For instance, selecting mangoes at just the right ripeness, soaking the gelatin sheets beforehand, and mentally rehearsing all the steps before starting—that's what makes it look easy."

During the livestream, Zoey occasionally struggled with what to say.

Emily stood off-camera holding cue cards: [Talk about the commercial where the director made you eat mango custard ten times. Ask viewers what desserts they'd like to see you try.]

When Zoey started to gossip about a co-star's bizarre behavior on set, Emily subtly gestured for her to stop.

The livestream reached over ten thousand viewers, and Zoey gained another five hundred followers.

After the broadcast ended, Emily sat at her computer editing the video. Still unfamiliar with the software, a fifteen-minute video took her nearly three hours to edit.

She repeatedly adjusted scene sequences, added captions, and fine-tuned the background music volume at least a dozen times. When she finally published the video, she exhaled in relief.

Zoey had shared Emily's account with Morris the previous night, so he received a notification when Emily posted her update.

Though he didn't have time to watch the video, he immediately texted her.

Morris: [Still awake at this hour?]

Emily: [Just finished editing. I'm not very efficient yet, but I'll get faster.]

Morris: [Send me your footage next time. I can have someone at the company edit it for you.]

Emily: [No need to trouble anyone. Working people have enough on their plates. I'll practice and improve.]

She was used to dealing with things independently and didn't want to bother Morris.

Seeing her response, Morris didn't press further, only reminding her to get some rest.

After sending "Good night," Emily went to take a shower. In the mirror, she noticed she was smiling. She touched her warm cheeks, feeling a bit flustered.

Just a few text messages, and she was already losing her composure?

Over the next week, Emily prepared five meals and two desserts daily for Zoey. Each dish was carefully calculated for calories and nutritional balance, designed to meet the digestive needs of someone with an eating disorder while ensuring proper nutrition.

Zoey's appetite gradually improved. She even began making requests. "Emily, could you make that pudding again sometime?"

When Emily heard this, she felt happier than when she'd closed her biggest sales deals in her previous job. It wasn't just validation of her culinary skills, but confirmation that her personalized service approach was working.

That evening, just as Emily placed a bowl of pumpkin soup on the table, her phone chimed with a message from Morris.

Morris: [Zoey mentioned she's starting a new project the day after tomorrow. Want to come see Yoyo this weekend?]

Emily: [I'd love to!] She had been missing the cat too.

Morris: [See you this weekend then.] After sending this, he followed with a winking star emoji.

Emily stared at that emoji, feeling her cheeks warm again.

For the first time in a long while, she was eagerly looking forward to the weekend.
