Chapter 122 Everything Will Be Alright
Quinn's POV
My heart leapt out of my chest when I saw Grayson confront Hanz.
I was sure Grayson was going to hit Hanz. Luckily, Bram stopped him. And luckily, after that, the game continued.
However, it was undeniable that there was tension on the rink between the players of both teams. Especially Grayson and Hanz.
It wasn't just me, but the people next to me thought so too. They talked about Hanz's spontaneity and Grayson's ferocity.
"Calm down, Quinn. He won't lose control. Not while you're here." Dylan held my hand. He must have seen how anxious I was.
"After what happened before the game, I'm not so sure, Dylan."
"You can't think like that. You have to believe. He's trying. And he'll keep trying until the end."
I nodded. And then went back to watching the game.
It seemed Dylan was right. After the earlier tension, Grayson scored more goals. He became more fierce, faster, unstoppable.
I even saw Hanz deliberately try to block Grayson's goals several times, but he still couldn't.
"Crazy! He's amazing!" Dylan shouted.
I shook my head at Dylan's reaction. But it turned out that everyone around me, who were also Grayson and Frost Maple supporters, were even more excited than that.
Especially in the final minutes before the end of the first period, the game heated up. Not only Hanz, but other players also targeted Grayson.
I grabbed Dylan's hand and moved my feet, wanting to go to the rink to help him.
I just wanted Grayson to play without getting hurt. And I was very worried that he would get hurt because so many players were targeting him.
My eyes couldn't stop following Grayson's movements. Especially when he shot the puck towards the opponent's net, I bit my finger.
Grayson hit the puck and at the same time, Hanz came from behind him and crashed into him.
"Oh shit!" I couldn't help but curse.
Meanwhile, everyone around me stood up because Grayson fell down, sprawled on the ice.
It felt like half my life had been taken away. Not because I was worried about the points Grayson had helped his team score. But because Grayson was still lying on the ice.
I let go of Dylan's hand. I almost got up from my seat before Grayson finally got up.
My body felt weak all of a sudden. I sat back down.
Dylan patted my shoulder and hugged me from the side. "He's fine, Quinn. He's not going down that easily. He's very strong."
But even so, I was very worried. I was afraid that his bones or muscles were injured after falling so hard.
I cursed Hanz! He was very cunning! I hope he gets what he deserves!
"Look, Quinn! Grayson is giving you two thumbs up. He wants you to know he's fine!"
I looked up from where I had been looking down and looked back at the rink. And sure enough, Grayson was back on his feet, he was even approaching the tribune. He raised both thumbs as Dylan had described.
He looked at me and winked.
Oh my god. I almost fainted earlier and now he's teasing me! So naughty and annoying!
Dylan leaned on my arm. "Look. He seems to be madly in love with you. Even falling down didn't stop him from showing his love for you."
I pushed Dylan's head away. "Don't be so loud or other people will hear you!"
Dylan giggled. Meanwhile, I looked back at Grayson. He waved his hand and then returned to finish the first period.
As I refocused on the game, Grayson's phone, which he had left with me, suddenly vibrated.
There was a call from... Mrs. Talon?
"What's wrong?"
I quickly hid it from Dylan. "I'll be right back."
"Are you okay?"
I nodded to reassure Dylan. "Everything's fine." Then I went to a more conducive place.
I went to a quiet corridor. Only then did I call back.
Honestly, I was very nervous about Mrs. Talon's response. I could guess that she would be very angry because her son's phone was with me. But I also couldn't wait for the game to finish because she kept calling.
It seemed important. And I would tell Grayson about it after the game.
"Grayson! What are you doing that you're not answering your mother's calls? Where are you?" Mrs. Talon's voice sounded hoarse.
"Sorry, it's me, Quinn. Grayson is playing a game. I have his phone because he left it with me. But after the game, I'll tell him you called."
"Are you the one who came to my home?"
I closed my eyes. "Yes, Mrs. Talon."
"Give my son's phone to him right now!"
I rubbed my chest, trying to be patient. "I can't, Mrs. Talon. Grayson is busy. If you have something important to say, please tell me. I will definitely tell Grayson."
"You want to take Grayson away from me, don't you? You're even controlling him now."
I sighed finally. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Talon. I'm not interested in arguing with you. I'm just stating the facts. Grayson just wants me to look after his phone while he's playing. I'm not trying to keep you away from Grayson."
"He didn't even tell me there was a game today!"
"Do you even care about Grayson's game schedule, Mrs. Talon? I think if you cared, you wouldn't need to be told, you'd find out for yourself. And then maybe you'd understand why your son can't answer the phone right now."
"You wicked woman! You stole my son!"
I moved the phone away from my ear for a moment. I calmed myself down and then responded to Mrs. Talon.
"If it's urgent, I'll pass it on somehow."
"Just give the phone to Grayson! I don't want you knowing about my family affairs!"
I was at the end of my tether. "All right, wait a minute..."
I stopped walking when I heard a very distinctive sound that is usually found in hospitals and used by patients who are unconscious. "Mrs. Talon, are you in the hospital? Are you sick?"
"I'm not the one who's sick. And you don't need to know! I just want Grayson to come right now. I need his help."
I panicked. "Is that Mr. Talon? But Grayson really can't leave right now. If you need someone to accompany you, I'll come."
"I don't want you to help me. I want my son!"
If I told Grayson, I wasn't sure he would come after what happened between them yesterday. Moreover, Grayson would only believe it if there was evidence. Meanwhile, Mrs. Talon didn't want to send any proof. It would only make Grayson think it was just a threat because Mr. Talon was fine yesterday.
"What are you doing! Hurry up and tell Grayson!"
"Mr. Talon and Grayson had an argument yesterday. I need a strong reason to tell Grayson about this."
After that, Mrs. Talon was silent for a long time. It made me anxious.
Until finally she spoke again in a smaller voice. "Grayson's father is in critical condition. He has kidney problems and needs a donor immediately. Grayson has to come in for testing because my kidneys are not compatible with my husband's."
Grayson couldn't do it. He was an athlete. It was very dangerous.
"Mrs. Talon, tell me Mr. Talon's blood type," I urged.
"B. What are you going to do with that?"
Oh, this is bad. Grayson has type A blood. He can't donate.
But... I can. My blood type is the same as Mr. Talon's.
"I'll come with Grayson," I said finally.
I'm sorry, Mrs. Talon, I lied. Grayson couldn't do it, but I could. So I would be the one to help Mr. Talon.
And Grayson, I'm sorry I had to leave in the middle of your game. I had to save your father.
I thought you would be grateful because I knew you still had some love for your father, even if it was only a little.
I’m not letting Grayson lose his father.
