Chapter 113 Love Is Crazy
Quinn's POV
I glanced at Grayson to see his reaction after I denied our relationship.
Honestly, I felt really guilty. But I also didn't want Anton to find out about my relationship with Grayson and tell Ema.
I loved Grayson to the moon and back. But I also wanted the job I had worked so hard to get.
"Oh, okay. I thought you two were dating. You look like you are. But if you're not, it's fine with me." After saying that, Anton went to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, I immediately took Grayson to sit down. I smiled awkwardly and left him to finish my task and to clarify things with Anton.
"Anton, I'm not lying. We are not dating," I said when I got to his side. "So please don't say anything in front of Ema about me and Grayson. I don't want to hurt her feelings."
"Oh, that's too bad. Just so you know, I adjusted your schedule to Grayson's game schedule. I gave in because I thought I could make a couple in love happy. But it turns out I was wrong, huh? I thought you went to his games many times because you wanted to cheer him on. Apparently not."
I rounded my eyes. Meanwhile, Anton shook his head.
"Even though I'm still single, I can tell whether someone is in a relationship or not," Anton said arrogantly.
"I could have attended those games for the same reason as Ema," I replied indignantly.
"If you were a fan like Ema, you would have been enthusiastic when she said she idolized Grayson. But you just stay quiet as if hearing that is normal for you."
Gosh. Now I didn't know how to respond.
"Quinn, it's okay if you're dating the most famous ice hockey star. Honestly, it's none of my or Ema's business. But if you don't want Ema to know, then I'll keep quiet." Anton made a gesture as if zipping his mouth shut.
I was delighted. "Thank you so much, Anton. You're the best!"
Anton rolled his eyes. "See? My instincts are really strong."
And now I felt even more guilty. I also regretted denying my relationship with Grayson earlier.
"My advice is, you better apologize to your boyfriend because he seems to be holding back from getting mad at you. I mean, I would be angry too if my girlfriend didn't acknowledge me in front of other people." Anton nudged me with his arm. "Before it's too late and before things get heated."
I sighed. "After I help you, I'll talk to him. He's willing to wait for me. He's patient."
"Patient? Even everyone knows how he is at the rink."
I grimaced. "Maybe only with me."
"Okay, it's up to you. The point is, I've given you my advice. So if something happens between you two, don't blame me again."
"Okay, second boss." After that, I quickly left the kitchen before Anton hit me with his napkin again.
I still had one thing to do. Fill the empty freezer.
Oh, but this box of drinks was heavy.
I could only lift it to my knees when suddenly two strong hands reached out in front of me, taking the box from me.
"You could’ve asked for my help," he said without looking at me.
"But I can still do it."
Grayson clicked his tongue and looked at me. Honestly, that look was scary now. "I won't let you lift heavy things. Make sure you don't do it again."
I couldn't help but nod.
Grayson continued my work of arranging the drinks. And I watched him from beside him.
"I'm forbidding you because I'm worried. What if the box suddenly breaks and the bottles fall and the shards hit your feet?"
I looked down. "I'll be careful."
"Being careful isn't enough. If you can't put them all on the table at once, take them one by one."
I looked down even more. It felt like Dylan was scolding me. "I won't do it again."
Grayson exhaled loudly. He then touched my chin and made me look at him again. "Keep your head up, my Quinn. I'm sorry if I seemed like I was scolding you."
"You're right. I do have to be careful not to cause trouble to others because of my carelessness."
"Shhh. Don't be sad. I'm not mad."
I felt my tears falling. I pursed my upper lip, which was starting to tremble as I tried to hold back my tears.
I don't know, being advised by Grayson felt much worse than being scolded by him. It felt like he was cornering me when he wasn't.
"Hey, don't cry. I'm sorry. I'll speak more gently."
I shook my head quickly as he wiped my tears. Honestly, lately I've been feeling more emotional.
"I was wrong to deny our relationship. I didn't want it to interfere with my work, but without realizing it, I may have hurt your feelings. Please forgive me."
Grayson kissed both my eyes. "I don't mind at all if you want to hide our relationship or show it off in front of other people. As long as it makes you comfortable and doesn't bother you. I'll just go with you, my Quinn."
I hugged Grayson. I am very lucky to have a boyfriend as understanding as Grayson.
Grayson rubbed my back. "Calm down first. Then we'll go home." Then he led me to sit down. But then he stood up again.
"Where are you going?" I asked in a hoarse voice.
"I want to be the first customer after a year here. So I'm gonna order some food. For Dylan too."
I chuckled. "That will surprise him."
Grayson shrugged and pressed the bell in front of the order counter.
Shortly after, Anton came out of the kitchen. He held his chest with a shocked expression. "I thought there was a real customer."
"There is. I'm the customer," replied Grayson.
I gave Anton a thumbs up. "That's right."
"Oh, what drama between this couple, God." Anton shook his head. "Okay, so what would you like to order, Mr. Talon? The menu is above my head."
"Everything on the menu. One by one."
Anton and I both gaped.
"Grayson, are you serious?"
Grayson turned and winked. "I'm very serious, honey. If this restaurant is short on customers, then I'll be a regular customer."
"Even if you don't like chicken?" I asked incredulously.
"Yes, even if I don't like chicken."
I slapped my forehead.
Oh, love is crazy.
