Chapter 103 The Annoying Ex
Quinn's POV
In the midst of this tense atmosphere, my phone vibrated. I had no choice but to let go of Grayson's hug to check it.
When I looked at the screen, I was quite surprised to see that it was Dylan. So I answered the call.
"Quinn, where are you right now?"
I glanced at Grayson and mouthed Dylan's name. "I'm with Grayson. Why?"
"Oh, it seems I called at the wrong time."
"Why? Are you hurt? Or are you lost somewhere?"
"No, no, it's not me. It's about Owen."
"About him?"
"He's downstairs. Security told me and asked if I knew him. I already said I did, so they asked me to meet Owen if he was my guest. But I haven't gone down yet. I want your opinion. What should I do? Should I meet him? But I think he wants to see you."
Oh my gosh, Owen.
One problem isn’t solved yet and he’s adding a new one. I haven’t even decided how I’m going to act in front of Mrs. Talon after this, and now I also have to think about my ex who’s still chasing me.
Oh man, can’t my life be a little peaceful? I’m really tired, really.
“What’s wrong, Quinny?”
I jumped when Grayson suddenly grabbed my shoulder. I sighed afterward. “Owen,” I said softly.
Then I returned to Dylan’s call. “Don’t come out of there. You don’t need to meet him either. If he still wants to see me, he’ll try again another time. You know he’s stubborn. So don’t worry about it. The important thing is that you stay there. Okay?"
"All right. I'll confirm with the receptionist that I don't want to see him. But everything's okay, right? I mean, you and Grayson are okay, right?"
I glanced at Grayson. There was no way I could tell Dylan that Mrs. Talon and I were at odds. So I gave another answer that wouldn't worry Dylan. "We're fine here. How are you? You haven't forgotten to eat and take your medicine, right?"
"Eww, I'm really sick of those medicines. But I still take them regularly."
I smiled even though Dylan couldn't see me. "Good boy. The important thing is that you don't forget it. I don't ask anything else of you besides that. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, my chatty sister."
"Okay. If there's nothing else you want to talk about, I'm going to hang up—" I didn't finish my words because Grayson touched my shoulder again.
"Can I talk to Dylan for a minute?" he asked.
This was an unusual request from Grayson. I wanted to know why, but if I asked, it would only make him uncomfortable. So instead, I signaled to him with my hand to let Dylan know first.
"Hold on, Dylan. Grayson wants to talk to you. You're not busy, are you?"
"My future brother-in-law wants to talk? Of course I have time!"
Oh, this kid. He's such a rascal.
I cover my mouth a little so he doesn't speak too loudly. "Remember, if you put your glass too close to the edge and it breaks, I'll scold you. Do you understand?"
Dylan laughed. "Your threats are really unusual. Relax, I won't say anything about our secret."
I looked at Grayson with an awkward smile. Yes, that was my way of threatening Dylan when he usually went too far in his speech.
I then handed my phone to Grayson. "He has plenty of time for you."
Grayson smiled widely when he received my phone. Suddenly, he kissed my cheek. "Thanks, Quinny!"
I could only chuckle with my cheeks burning.
To give Grayson more freedom to talk to Dylan, I decided to leave. After that, I intended go to Grayson's room. But when I came out of the attic, I saw the swimming pool on the left side of the house.
I stopped my intention and walked over to the window to look at the pool.
Now I think I know why Grayson also has a private swimming pool in his penthouse with the same design.
Perhaps it was the only thing that reminded him of Gerry in his house. I guessed that because if not, what else could be the reason? Moreover, Grayson also said that he rarely used the swimming pool in his penthouse. So that must be the reason.
Although I didn't know how Grayson and Gerry's childhood went, seeing the pool made me imagine little children running around and playing in the water there.
Grayson's life must have been very warm and pleasant. Before he turned into the cold and stubborn man he is now, he must have been a cute, funny, and adorable child.
I admit he has a big heart because instead of hating Gerry, he helped him reach his dream. For a child as young as Grayson was at the time, that decision was not easy. But he dared to take it and live it.
Grayson is truly the definition of a star that has been forged so hard until it can shine very brightly.
Those who don't know him might say that he is a child who cannot escape his parents' privilege. In fact, apart from that, most of his achievements are also due to his own hard work and the result of him pushing himself too hard.
Just imagine, he didn't even have time to be sad because his day had to go on. In the midst of a broken heart, he still practiced and practiced until he finally climbed the ladder of success one step at a time.
Oh Grayson, you will always be my pride and joy, truly.
"Excuse me, miss."
My heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest when I heard those words. It turned out that they came from the maid behind me.
"I’m sorry, miss. Mrs. Talon wants to see you. She's in her office. Please come with me. I'll take you there."
What else does Mrs. Talon want to see me about? Does she want to humiliate me again?
Should I tell Grayson before I meet her?
"Mrs. Talon said there's something important she wants to discuss with you."
Oh okay, it probably won't take long. But before that, I want to grab something to bring her. "I'm going to Grayson's room for a moment. Is that okay?"
The maid nodded. "No problem, miss."
