“That psycho.” Logan said through gritted teeth as he watched the departing cars. He allowed the cars to be out of sight and the dust to settle down before he began to stroll down the road.
After some minutes, he started running as he revised the conversation he had with Van Halen a few moments ago.
Running didn't calm him down, neither did walking. Since all he wanted was to get home and channel his energy into something else, he started jogging.
Meanwhile, Joanne was still wondering where he had gone. Several times, she had tried to ask the guards but for reasons best known to her, she wouldn't voice her question out.
When she couldn't bear it anymore, she walked up to one of the guards and with her hands on her hips asked, “Didn't I ask you to keep watch over Logan?” Her voice came an octave high.
“Yes…”
“Then how was he able to slip out of your grip without your notice? Tell me, where did he go?” She snapped, hands across her chest with her gaze fixed on him. Having nothing to say to her, the guard found it difficult to speak.
“If anything happens, trust me, you wouldn't only lose your job but your life also.” She snapped before she stomped off in rage.
Getting to her room, she began to dial his contact but he wouldn't pick up. Frustrated, she tossed her phone aside and then fell on the bed with a thud.
“If I knew it would end up this way, I wouldn't have created that scene back there?” she moaned, biting her bottom lips.
After a while, she sat and then tugged her hair. She soon got bored with this and so she stormed out of the room. This time around, she wanted to go out and look for him in places she thought he would be.
Immediately she got to the hallway, she saw Logan standing at the other end trying to catch his breath as he used a towel to wipe off his sweat.
“I can't believe I was worried about an adult.” She rolled her eyes and with her hands on her hips, she turned around but before she could enter her room, Logan ssid, “Hey, we need to talk.”
“Talk about what in particular? The last time I checked we had nothing to talk about.” She scowled in return, trying to maintain her hard gaze which was gradually slipping away.
“But we have something to talk about now.” He said, closing the distance between them. Joanne, trying to keep her distance, took a step backwards and he took a step forward in return.
This went on until Joanne's back touched the cold wall. Defeated, she scowled, “What do you want from me?”
“I met Van Halen and we had a face off.” He said, accompanying it with a smirk.
“Is the smirk necessary? Why act as if you deserve an award for this.” Shs hissed and with her back turned to him, she began walking in the opposite direction.
“Is that what you have to say?” Logan asked, disappointment written all over his face.
“What do you want me to say then? Fine, I will clap for you.” She said and then went ahead to hit her palm together. A few minutes later, she stopped.
“Just leave me alone.”
With a scowl, she began to head to her room. Just a few feet away from her room, she grabbed her head and the wall at the same time.
Logan, who was still in the hallway, ran to her side. “You're alright?” He asked but instead of answering, she straightened up and then resumed walking.
She had barely taken two more steps when she slumped but Logan was quick to catch her before she made contact with the floor.
Scooping her in his hand, he took her into her room and after setting her on the bed, went ahead to call the doctor.

Joanne's eyes fluttered open only for her to shut it moments later because of the bright light that was coming directly from the window opposite her.
Meanwhile at the other end of the room, Logan sat with the doctor who was giving him her diagnosis.
I wonder what they are up to now — she said in her head, eyes still shut shut since she wanted to hear their conversation.
“Maybe through food and drink, you never can tell.” The doctor said and Logan shook his head in disagreement. He was finding it difficult to believe his diagnosis.
Joanne, still feigning to be unconscious, usually shoots an eye open only to shut it back. It was when she opened it that she locked eyes with Logan who had been staring at her.
“I guess she is awake now.” Logan said to the doctor and together, they made their way towards the bed.
While the doctor went ahead to check her vitals, Logan was towering above her, his gaze not leaving here even for once.
“She's okay but still needs a bit of close monitoring just in case.” The doctor said, replacing the stethoscope on his neck.
“Thank you.”
“You're welcome.” He replied. Just as he was about to leave, Joanne who didn't want to ask Logan any question coughed to draw his attention.
“Why did I faint all of a sudden and why do I need close monitoring?” She asked.
Nodding at Logan, he said, “He will tell you everything you need to know…” he was still speaking when she interrupted.
“But he is not a doctor, you are the doctor and as it is expected, you are the one who ought to answer my question.” She snapped with the roll of her eyes.
The doctor exchanged glances with Logan who just slumped his shoulder before returning his gaze to Joanne who was waiting for the doctor's response.
Rubbing his chin, the doctor said, “You were poisoned.”
“Poisoned?” Joanne asked.
“Yes.” He replied, turning to Logan, he said, “I will be ok my way now.”
