Chapter 115 The Person in Charge’s Encirclement and Suppression
Lyle sat in his chair without even glancing up.
Wayne, the head of one of the branch companies, strutted in like he owned the place.
Behind him came the heads of five other branches.
Their ties were all hanging loose and sloppy.
They didn't look anything like people coming to a meeting. They looked more like a gang of thugs ready to start a fight.
"Looks like we're not late, right?" Wayne walked straight up to the conference table, yanked out a chair, and threw his feet up on the table like he had every right to.
He looked around the empty conference room, then let his eyes land on Lyle.
"Lyle, you're nothing but a dog begging for scraps. Where's that kid Ethan? What, is he hiding under his desk, too scared to come out and face us?"
Lyle set down his coffee cup. "Get your filthy feet off the table, Wayne. You're pushing your luck."
"Shut your mouth!" Wayne slammed his hand on the table.
"You really think we're going to take orders from some young punk? The boss is gone, and nobody knows where the hell he is! And just because he left some note saying we should bow down to whatever bookworm he picked out of some college, we're supposed to kneel and call him boss? Who does he think he is?"
Wayne jabbed a finger in Lyle's face. "You go tell that useless piece of trash Ethan to hand over his position right now and get out of this building. This place belongs to us!"
Lyle stared at them, shaking with rage, and shot to his feet.
"You idiots! Leo is missing, not dead! You really think you can pull this kind of stunt without worrying about what happens when he gets back and skins every last one of you?"
At the mention of Leo's name, Wayne didn't flinch at all. Instead, he burst out laughing, and the five heads behind him joined right in.
"Gets back? Even if he crawled back from hell right now, it wouldn't change a damn thing!"
Wayne jumped down from the table, the grin on his face twisting into something ugly.
He started undoing his shirt buttons, staring at Lyle like he was already looking at a dead man.
"Lyle, you think the reason we haven't touched that kid these past few months is because we were scared of him? Get that out of your head. The only thing holding us back was that genetic serum he drank."
Wayne spread his hands with a smug look. "But times have changed, old man. That serum that turns people into monsters? Our labs figured it out. And every single one of us has already taken it."
"Even if Leo himself walked in here today, we'd still blow his brains out! We're taking back everything that belongs to us. You got that?"
Lyle froze.
He had figured Wayne and the others were just looking down on Ethan for being too young and inexperienced, maybe trying to grab a little more control of the company.
But now he saw it clearly. These bastards had been rotten to the core from the very beginning.
They had no limits at all. Even if Leo were still around, they would have turned on him sooner or later.
"You traitorous scum!" Lyle pointed at Wayne and roared. "None of you are walking out of here today! Ethan will have every one of you put down!"
"Go to hell!"
The words had barely left Wayne's mouth when his body exploded into motion at a speed that had no business belonging to any normal human.
He launched himself over the conference table and swung his fist straight at Lyle's head.
In less than half a second.
A dark blur flashed into view.
Ethan appeared out of nowhere and stepped squarely in front of Lyle.
He didn't even raise his hands. He just casually lifted his right foot and drove a kick straight into Wayne mid-air.
Wayne never even saw it coming. He was sent flying backward, crashed into the hallway outside, and skidded across the floor for nearly fifteen meters before he stopped.
The five heads who had been laughing just moments ago stood there with their eyes wide open in shock.
Ethan slowly pulled his foot back and looked down at Wayne on the floor.
"The only reason I haven't dealt with you worthless bunch before now is out of respect for Leo. You weren't worth getting my hands dirty."
Ethan curled the corner of his mouth. "But it's pretty clear I don't need to worry about Leo anymore. Because trash like you? You can just go ahead and die."
Out in the hallway, Wayne clutched his chest, groaning in pain, and dragged himself back to his feet.
He coughed up a mouthful of blood, but his eyes only grew wilder. "Ethan... so you've actually got some strength. So what?"
Wayne let out a roar. His shirt tore apart as his muscles swelled outward, black veins bulging up beneath his skin, and his whole body shot up several inches in an instant.
"You think you're still the only monster here?"
Wayne laughed like a madman and pointed straight at Ethan.
"Brothers, all of you, come on! Show him what the new serum can do! I'm going to beat this kid into nothing!"
The moment he said it, the other five heads swelled up just like Wayne, and in an instant they closed in and surrounded Ethan from every side.
