Chapter 111 It’s Your Turn

Chapter 111 It’s Your Turn

Ethan stood still, frowning slightly, caught off guard.

The Aeterna Causality guys practically lived in black robes.

But the big man in front of him was nothing like that.

He was wearing a plain gray T-shirt stretched nearly to its limit, with a square face and a blank, almost simple-minded stare — the kind of guy who looked like he'd spend his days chopping wood on some Midwestern farm without a second thought.

The contrast was so jarring that Ethan's gut told him something was off.

But Kieran, standing a short distance away, didn't give him much time to think.

"Hunter. Kill him."

"Yes, master."

Watching Hunter's response, Ethan understood immediately. Someone had taken control of this guy's nervous system through some seriously shady means.

Interesting.

If he was being controlled, that meant either destroying the source of control or beating him hard enough to knock him back to his senses would break him free.

Just then, Hunter raised his arm and threw a straight punch straight at Ethan.

Ethan turned into a dark blur and sidestepped in an instant.

Hunter's fist missed and slammed dead-on into the load-bearing wall of an abandoned red-brick building nearby.

The wall caved in like it was made of paper, and the entire two-story structure came crashing down from that single punch.

"That's one hell of a hit," Ethan thought, genuinely startled.

This wasn't just gene serum. To have that kind of power, Hunter had probably awakened some kind of insane ability during his genetic mutation.

If this guy weren't so painfully slow, even Ethan would've had to put in some real effort.

But it didn't matter how strong you were if you couldn't land a hit.

Ethan stopped thinking about killing him. He rubbed his chin, and the look in his eyes shifted.

The company was short on people. If he could knock some sense back into this guy and post him at the front door as head of security, he'd be worth ten regular guards.

And that would free up plenty of time to finally upgrade the security system.

With that thought, Ethan stopped backing away.

The moment Hunter turned to throw his second punch, the pavement under Ethan's feet exploded into a shallow crater, and he vanished — reappearing directly behind Hunter.

"Take a nap, big guy."

Ethan raised his right hand, fingers pressed flat, and drove a precise chop into the back of Hunter's neck.

Hunter just swayed, then spun around with a roar and swept his arm in a wide arc.

"Ha! Hahaha!"

Kieran burst out laughing from a distance. "What are you doing, Ethan? Giving him a massage?"

He held up his black briefcase and pointed at Hunter, voice full of pride.

"You think normal attacks work on him?

His muscle density and bone density are dozens of times that of a regular person. Armor-piercing rounds can't even break his skin. How do you expect to hurt him?"

"Is that so?"

Ethan casually ducked under Hunter's swing and brushed the dust off his shoulder.

He glanced over at Kieran. "I think you've got it wrong, buddy. I was just worried about using too much force and accidentally caving his skull in."

The grin on Kieran's face froze.

"Good to know he can take a beating." Ethan rolled his neck.

Hunter came at him again, both fists raised high, looking to pound him into the ground.

This time, Ethan didn't even try to dodge.

The moment Hunter's fists came down, Ethan stepped forward into him, driving straight into his chest.

His left hand locked around Hunter's arm.

"Get down!"

Ethan roared.

With one hand, he grabbed Hunter's body — hundreds of pounds of it — and ripped him clean off the ground, swinging him through a half-arc in the air before slamming him into the earth.

The ground shook.

The pavement exploded, sending chunks of asphalt and dirt flying in every direction.

Hunter was driven into the road, leaving a deep crater behind.

Before Hunter could react, Ethan was already behind him again, driving another hard strike into the back of his neck.

Hunter's eyes rolled back. He twitched twice, then went completely still.

Ethan straightened up slowly and turned his gaze toward Kieran, who was standing a dozen feet away, frozen in shock.

The briefcase slipped from Kieran's hand and hit the ground. His legs were shaking and he couldn't stop them.

Ethan walked toward him, one step at a time. "You're out of cards, buddy."

He stopped less than three feet away.

"Your turn."
