Forever

Tatiana “…and that ends the story of how the god-king was tamed by his arranged bride who became the world to him,” I said softly while kissing my son’s head, thinking he was sleeping, the minute I stood up, he turned his head to look at me, his face an exact replica of his father’s and the only thing he seemed to carry were my eyes.

“Where are you going, mommy?” He asked, his voice filled with sleep.

“To go and tuck your father in and then I will get back to you dearest.” I returned softly, he nodded as he rested his head back on the pillow, his eyes drooping, he was going to wait for me to come back but before I would walk down the hall to my room where his father is waiting for me, he would be asleep already. “Good night Easton.”

“Goodnight, momma.” He responded with a yawn; I closed the door behind me only to feel someone beside me.

“How long do you plan on telling him that ridiculous story.” Chandler breathed in my ears as I tried my best to muffle my squeak of surprise and he laughed underneath his breath at me.

“That was not funny.” I snapped even as I smiled because Chandler’s joy was so infectious. We were done with the time when we tried to cover up our emotions in a bid not to get hurt. Over the last five years that we have been together, we have learned to trust each other and love…

“I asked you a question wife, when will you stop filling our child’s head with ridiculous and untrue stories.”

“Which part was untrue?” I turned into his arm and he wrapped them around me. “The part where I tame you?”

“Tame is too harsh of a word…” Chandler started, and I rolled my eyes.

“Or the part where I become your whole world,” I added.

“Actually, you are not my whole world, you, Easton, and our future children are.” Chandler returned and I smiled even as I started moving to our bedroom slowly, I was almost ready to have our new child, the royal physician whose grey hairs has doubled over the course of this pregnancy of mine said the babe would be born any day now and I should not task myself, but I do not see telling my child a good story as a task. It was a privilege.

With happy tears in my eyes, I said. “And they lived happily ever after. The end.”

“Who does?” Chandler asked me and I smiled as I respond.

“We do.”
