Chapter 35
The silhouette did not move.
It was dark so Megan could not make out a face.
However, there was one thing that she was sure about and it was that this was not a human.
The form breathed out evenly and calmly and was watching her liek a prey.
“Of course I’m not letting you in even if it was a bright and sunny day.”
Megan muttered to herself as she stepped away from the glass door.
It was like her brain reminded her that the only thing separating her from IT was a low budget glass door and there was no way that she was going to put all of her faith in it.
Her form moved back but her eyes remained fixated on it.
She blinked once hoping that by the time she opened her eyes, she would still be there.
“I should take care of myself more.”
Megan muttered again as her mind went to all the times that she ate poorly and never prioritized proper rest.
To her, perhaps she was starting to hallucinate as a result of poor lifestyle choices.
When she got to a considerable distance away from the glass door, the figure started to live closer towards her.
It was like it had to create a certain level of distance between them that was acceptable.
Her entire body shuddered in fear.
Her mind was screaming at her to run but her feet were planted to the floor like they had a mind on their own.
She just had to the emergency exit and she would be out of the building in five minutes but for some reason, Megan could not move an inch.
“Hello?!”
Megan called out, her voice trembling in fear.
The figure stopped and tilted her head to the side to stare at her like she was some interesting thing.
“Who are you?”
She shakily asked again but in response, the figurejust turned its head to the other side to continue to stare at her.
Megan may not have been able to make a face but one thing that she coukd tell that it was the figure of a woman.
The silence was loud wuth the only thing being heard in the dark office was the sound of her heavy rasped breathing.
“I am here to grant your wish Megan.”
The voice said in a very strange tone. It’s voice add like that if many and it caused a shiver to run down the length of her spine.
It’s voice echoed throughout the entire office causing vibrations to bounce of its walls.
“I have been watching you. I am here to give you the wvey thing that you desire.”
It continued continuing to pace itself towards her.
The more she walked closer, the more Cleo seemed to be in some sort of a trance.
She could not remove her eyes from hers and her heart rate slowed down.
She felt calm hinder her gaze and Megan found herself walking closer towards the door.
It was like she was in a trance and even though her brain was saying otherwise, her body was doing completely the opposite.
She reached the door and opened it.
Her eyes were glazed over and her pupils dilated.
The figure walked over to her with slow steady steps.
Megan did not move backwards or hesitate.
“What is it that you desire the most?”
The figure asked as it caressed her face with damp fingers.
Again, Megan did not flinch.
“I want to be acknowledged. I want to be sought after. I want to be rich and beautiful.”
She said like she was a machine, her pupils sinking further.
“What do you want Megan?”
The figure asked again but this time, it moved back again watching her intently.
“I want their lives.”
Megan finally said.
The reaction came in an instant.
The figure let out a wide smile in front of her and nodded.
Then just like that, the figure disappeared like it was never there in the first place.
Megan blinked fast and came back to reality.
Looking round the room, she stared up in confusion trying to remember what it was that just happened.
She stumbled backwards as her legs struggled to keep her frame upright.
Her heart hammered violently against her chest.
“What was that? I need to go home.”
She muttered and ran back to her desk to pack her things.
To her, she really needed to sleep because she had been up for way too long.
It was now too late too go home so Megan planned to go to the staff room to sleep till morning.
However, when she reached her desk, something weird caught her eye.
The manuscript had changed?
Even down to the color of the cover page.
All afternoon, it was a brown cover page with the title: THE GIRL IN ROOM 324
But now, she was staring at a blue cover page with the title: UNDER THE CHERRY BLOSSOM TREE
“Huh?”
She breathed out as her pupils dilated in shock,
She was afraid but more so at the fact of what it was that was happening.
Did she imagine it all?
But would it be possible for her to have imagined everything she had read since afternoon?
These were the thoughts that ran through her mind.
Her feet hurried away from the small office and towards the treatment room.
Everything was still fresh in her mind.
Did she really imagine all of it?
Did she imagine it?!
Her hands were visibly shaking and in a desperate attempt to calm herself, she put her hands in fists on her chest.
The moment she got to the staff room, she rushed in and locked herself in.
Her back slid on the door as she took in deep breaths of air.
Her throat felt sore as it burned.
Beads of sweat were now dripping down her face. She felt cold as her body shivered but no matter how she would like to forget it, that thing wokkd always be stuck at the back of her mind.
What was that?
