Chapter 30
Cleo just continued to stare at the reflection not knowing what to do.
Then out if the blue, the mirror started to crack. The sound of the glass breaking was harsh and the reaction came in an instant.
Cleo put her hands over her ears in a desperate attempt to stop the noise from reverberating against the walls of her skull.
The sounds echoed in the entire room and the already flickering light flickered even more.
The silence….
Cleo looked at the mirror.
The reflection of the stranger was still there but now, there was something different.
The reflection had come alive.
Nothing she did was repeated in the mirror.
The reflection just stared at her plainly with cold hard eyes, unmoving.
Then the reflection let it an eerie grin that ran from ear to ear.
At the sight of this, a shiver down the length of Cleo’s spine as beads of sweat started to drop to the bare floor.
Her pupils dilated and shook in horror at the sight of the reflection.
Cleo could once again feel reality shattering before her very eyes.
“Let me out.”
It finally spoke in a whisper.
It’s hands were on the other side of the mirror as it continued to stare right at Cleo just like it was trying to peer into the very depths of her soul.
“You never deserved this! Let me out!!!!!”
The reflection screamed at her.
Cleo’s breath hitched as it became hard for her to swallow.
Her chest tightened and without putting any thought into the action, her feet started to move her body back slowly.
Cleo was afraid that the reflection would somehow be able to jump out of the other side of the mirror and attack her.
She was now unsure of what was possible and what wasn’t.
“Let me out!!!”
“This is not a life.”
“This is a nightmare.”
“Please let me out!!!”
The reflection continued to scream with a pained voice.
Her voice was raw and loud and it was more than enough to stir something deep in Cleo’s heart.
“This isn’t a life!”
“Why do you cling to it!”
“ Set me free.”
This time, the reflection started to hit the other side of the mirror.
The flecks ring bulb above her sparked with lighted sparks flying around.
Cleo let out a scream as she covered her head with her hands.
….Then darkness
Don’t let her in after 3:00am
A rule long forgotten by Cleo.
Knock
Knock
Knock
The sounds were low and rhythmical bringing it her attention away from the mirror, and the reflection in it.
“ No! don’t let her in”
The reflection cried but to Cleo getting out of this room was a necessity.
all that she could think about was getting her way from the reflection.
She could not explain it, but looking at the reflection ignited something uncomfortable in her.
Cleo’s legs started to move towards the door, not removing the eyes away from the mirror out of fear that the reflection would attack at any moment.
Cleo finally opens the door but so nothing. She saw no one. The hallway was dark and the breeze cold.
Her entire body visibly shivered in response but that was not what made the goosebumps father in her skin.
It was the fact that behind her, she could feel a cold, wet hand on her shoulder.
Her entire body ran cold through her very veins as her heart hammered violently against her chest.
Her breath slowed down as breathing was becoming more and more difficult.
Cleo opened her mouth wuth the ola. tk scream for help but nothing came out.
No sound was made.
She screamed and screamed with all of her mind but it was just as if she had lost her ability to speak all of a sudden.
Her vision became blurry as the tears started to gather at the corners of her eyes.
And just like that, a huge gust of wind slammed the door shut in her face.
She did not dare look back as her vision was fixated on the closed door now.
It was her and it alone in the room.
The hand rubbed her face slowly. Her body shivered in response.
The cold hand left a trail of something moist and foul on her face.
Cleo’s pulse roared loud in her ears as the tears now stained her cheeks.
“Megannnn.”
It whispered from behind her.
That name yet again.
That bloody name.
Who was Megan?!
Who is Megan Melroy?!
“Megan….Why did you kill me?!”
The voice asked again and this time, Cleo could not help herself.
Even though the fear was eating at her very bones, she turned around to see things for herself.
She was looking at herself?
The lights began to flicker again as if to aid her sight in the dark room.
It was like Room 324 wanted her to see and find out the truth for herself.
Cleo stood there….starihg at herself?
The figure had brown curls and brown eyes, petite, and pretty.
It was her?
She had on the clothes that she had when she had first came to Hotel La Rue.
However, this Cleo looked awful.
Her clothes were dirty and had some dark red stains on them.
Her hair was dirty and matted making it clear that it had not been washed for who knows how long.
Her skin was dirty with the same dried up red stains.
Her eyes were red and puffy and her lips chapped. She skin was very pale and her lips blue.
“Why did you kill me Morgan? How could you?”
The other Cleo asked and the reaction came in an instant.
Cleo did not know why but her body started to shake violently as more tears started to stream down her face.
“We were friends.”
“Why?!”
“Why Megan?”
Cleo turned her back to her unable to continue to stare at her as her words vent like shari knives to her stomach.
“Why are you trying to forget Megan?”
She continued again and the beads of sweat increased on Cleo’s face.
“Why are you trying so hard to be me?”
Her voice croacked out in pain.
Cleo’s chest tightened even more but she could still not remember.
Who was she?
Who was Megan Melroy?
“N-no…. I would never kill anyone.”
Her voice cried out as her breath came out in pants.
It was like she was trying to calm herself down and make herself believe her own words.
“That’s what I thought as well.”
The other Cleo said.
“If you don’t want to remember, Room 324 will make you remember.”
