Chapter 175 The Pack That Failed Her

Chapter 175 The Pack That Failed Her

“Enough.” Ezra raised his voice. “Can you not see? She wants nothing to do with us. I mentioned Drake on purpose. She did not react. The man who once mattered more to her than her own life was discarded without a pause. What do you think we are to her now? If she turns away, why should we chase her like beggars?”

Maya stepped closer, her eyes blazing.

“So this is about pride,” she said. “Because the girl we once looked down on now stands above us. Brother, how much is pride worth. After all these years in business, do I still need to teach you this.”

She turned sharply, yanked the car door open, and climbed inside, as she slammed the door shut.

She knew Elena wanted distance. Yet everything she did was for Ezra.

Inside the restaurant, Elena and Dolphus took their seats.

“They are Drake's people,” she said. “Not mine.”

“Ezra told you Drake was hospitalized. You did not ask a thing. Especially when Drake came last night to speak to you about how Morrin wants to cooperate with him in order to deal with you.” Dolphus stated .

Elena closed the menu slowly. A smile pressed against her lips.

“Are you testing me,” she asked softly. “Do you want to see if I still feel something for him?”

“I do not even want gratitude in your heart for him,” Dolphus replied. His eyes never lifted.

Possession rang clear in every word.

Elena nodded once.

“Alright. I understand.”

His phone vibrated. He answered. The moment he listened, his face darkened. At the same time, Elena’s phone rang.

She saw Florence’s name. Tension tightened her shoulders. She answered while noticing Dolphus watching her.

“Elena,” Florence said fast. “Morrin has discovered what happened at Atwater Village. She is using it to threaten his uncle.”

“Hold her for now. Elena and I are coming.” Dolphus said through the call.

They ended the calls. Elena grabbed her bag. Both rose at once and moved toward the exit.

“How did Morrin learn this,” Elena asked.

“Nicholas did not explain,” Dolphus said as he opened the car door for her. “She is already detained. We will know soon.”

At the Farrington estate, Morrin sat with ease on the sofa. A confident smile curved her lips as she faced Mr Raphael.

“I would not stir trouble without a weapon,” she said smoothly. “Uncle Raphael, I doubt you want whispers spreading that your adopted granddaughter was the girl whose mother was taken to Atwater Village, and the mother, which is your daughter, gave birth at sixteen and was later saved. The Farrington name cannot carry such dirt.”

Her eyes gleamed.

“I ask for little. I am still Farrington. Give me a role as marketing manager. It will not touch Elena.”

Raphael sat relaxed. His legs crossed. He felt no anger. He had thought Morrin held proof of murder and trafficking.

Instead, she had only traced Elena’s past, matched the timing of Seraphina's rescue.

Raphael had allowed Nicholas and Florence to call Elena and Dolphus because his instincts had stirred. As the Gamma of the Crescent Moon pack, he had sensed danger the moment he saw Elena standing beside Dolphus. Their bond had shaken the balance.

“The Monroe family has no rules when money is involved, uncle. If they discover that Elena has accepted Seraphina as her mother and then compare the timing of when Seraphina was found, what do you think they will assume? They might believe Seraphina truly gave birth to Elena. And Andrew, that child of theirs, might even convince himself he carries Farrington blood. What if they come knocking, demanding a mother. With people like them, scenes come easy. If they target Seraphina again, her mind may not survive another blow.”

Raphael lifted his cup of coffee and drank slowly. He said nothing.

Morrin's confidence wavered. Her eyes searched his face.

“Uncle Raphael. Are you really not worried at all.”

She rose, lifting her bag.

“Since you are so relaxed, I might as well let the media know. I could also inform the Monroe family that Elena has been adopted into the Farrington family. If they stir drama on some talk show, the Farrington Corporation and the Farrington name will flood the headlines.”

Raphael still gave no response.

Morrin turned as if to leave. At that moment, the door opened. Dolphus and Elena walked in.

Morrin stopped. Her eyes locked on Elena. She folded her arms, confidence rushing back.

“Everyone is here. Perfect. Since Mr Raphael refuses to decide, Elena, you choose. Should I alert the Monroe family about your adoption and suggest that the time Seraphina was found matches when your so-called dead mother disappeared. That would give them reason to harass this family. Or should you simply give me the position of Marketing Manager at Farrington Corporation.”

Elena stood still. Morrin did not know the truth. She did not know Seraphina was her real mother. Elena pressed her lips together, silently, waiting.

Morrin leaned forward.

“ You know my cousin’s mental state. If the Monroe family storms in and something happens to her”

The sound rang sharp.

Elena’s palm struck Morrin's face.

Morrin stumbled back, clutching her cheek, eyes wide.

“Elena. Have you lost your mind? How dare you hit me.”

Elena stepped closer, her aura cold and heavy.

“There are lines I allow others to cross and lines that end them. You studied in top schools abroad, yet you choose tactics lower than street rats. Kidnapping children. Smearing names. Is this how you hunt your goals?”

Morrin's pupils shook. She backed away.

“Drake told you.”

Elena’s gaze hardened.

“I still have the recording. Do you want to hear it? Or should I give it to the police? Attempted kidnapping still leaves a mark. Once your name stains the records, do you think your fiancé in America will still claim you.”

Morrin's voice started shaking.

“What do you want?”

“I am teaching you the law. If you dare join hands with the Monroe family to stain the Crescent Moon pack and Farrington family, then drag my mother’s name through mud, I will show you how it feels to lose everything. Never doubt a woman protecting her child and her blood.”

Fear finally cracked Morrin's mask. She turned and fled.

Dolphus turned to Melvin.

“Watch her. Do not allow her to have any contact with the Monroe family.”

Melvin nodded once and left at once.

Silence settled.

Elena faced Raphael. Her fingers curled around her bag strap.

“Sir…”

Raphael Farrington sat unmoved, coffee cup resting in his hand. His eyes passed over Elena and Dolphus.

“So you came back to see if I am already buried.”

He drank, found the cup empty, and passed it to Florence, who hurried to refill it.

Nicholas waved the servants away. Soon only Elena, Dolphus, and Raphael remained.

Dolphus stepped forward, placing himself beside Elena.

“I know you are angry. Words will not change it.”

He removed his jacket and let it fall aside. Then he knelt.

“If you must strike, do it. But I will not release Elena.”

After a long moment, Raphael spoke.

“You have chosen each other regardless of consequence.”

Florence returned and placed the coffee cup on the table. She leaned close and whispered.

“Seraphina and the children will soon be home”

Raphael looked at Dolphus.

“Stand. Do not frighten the pups.”

Dolphus rose.

Seraphina entered, holding Lexa and Aaron by their small hands. Each child carried a tiny flower basket. Lexa's eyes lit up at once. She broke free and ran.

“Mommy.”

Aaron followed.

Lexa threw herself into Elena’s arms.

“Mummy, why are you here? Did you miss me and brother?”

Elena crouched and lifted her easily.

Seraphina handed the basket to the maid and spoke softly.

“Perfect timing. This morning, your grandfather and I discussed tutors or kindergarten. Elena, you are their mother. What do you think?”

Raphael Farrington glanced at Dolphus.

“We planned to call you both back to talk about it.”

Elena understood. Dolphus answered first.

“Aaron learns fast and may feel caged in kindergarten. A tutor suits him. Lexa loves noise and friends. Kindergarten fits her nature.”

Raphael watched him closely.

Lexa lifted both hands.

“I like kids. It is fine.”

She ran to Seraphina and hugged her.

“But I will miss seeing Miss Seraphina's beautiful face. I will see her less if I go to kindergarten.”
