Chapter 133 The Hunt for the Traitors
Chapter 133 The Hunt for the Traitors
Alexander nodded to Marcus. The information was noted. He continued the questioning.
"The safe houses. Where are the remaining Moonthorn cells hiding?"
Kael stayed silent. Alexander pulled a pistol from his holster and shot Kael in the left leg. The gunshot was deafening in the small room. Kael screamed, his body convulsing in the chair. Blood pooled on the floor.
"The safe houses," Alexander repeated.
Kael gasped for air. "Moonthorn has only two safe houses that I know of. One in the old factory district. The other in the mountains near Black Peak. Ironthorn has one in the abandoned warehouse by the docks, they are staying in the underground basement"
Alexander pressed the gun to Kael’s right leg. "The elders. Where are they hiding?"
Kael’s eyes were wide with pain and fear. "They are in the safe houses. Please. I have told you everything, you will find out more when you go to the locations I have given you."
Alexander shot him in the right leg. Kael’s scream was guttural. His body slumped in the chair, blood pouring from both wounds.
Alexander crouched down again. "You are going to die here unless you give me something useful. The elders. The masterminds. Where are they?"
Kael’s voice was barely a whisper. "The main elders are in a bunker under the old mill in the abandoned house by the forest if you are leaving the city. I have given you everything. Please. Let me live, I can help you."
Alexander stood up. He looked at Marcus. "Clean him up. Keep him alive. We may need him again."
He walked out of the room, the scent of blood heavy in his nostrils. The interrogation had been brutal but necessary. They had locations. They had a chance to end this.
lexander stood motionless on the rocky ridge overlooking the isolated cabin hidden deep within the eastern hills. The icy night wind swept across the mountains, rustling the towering pine trees and tugging at the edges of his tactical jacket. From where he stood, the old wooden cabin looked almost abandoned. Its faded red roof blended into the darkness, while only a faint glow escaping through a single curtained window suggested that someone was inside.
His sharp gaze remained fixed on the building below.
Kael Evans had broken under interrogation, and for once, the information he had given proved to be accurate.
This was the place.
Satellite surveillance had picked up movement over the last twenty-four hours, and the hacker's intelligence had confirmed the identities of the occupants. Tamara and Lydia. Both were hiding inside.
Alexander's jaw tightened.
Two people who had willingly betrayed him, endangered his family, and aligned themselves with those determined to destroy everything he had spent years building.
Tonight, their hiding place would become their prison.
There would be no escape.
Unlike previous missions, Alexander had refused to underestimate his enemies. He had assembled twenty of Blackwood's finest warriors, each one battle-tested and fiercely loyal. Vincent had also sent five elite Silver wolves, creating a strike force that was prepared for every possible outcome.
This operation would leave nothing to chance.
Marcus quietly moved beside him, crouching low as he adjusted the night-vision goggles over his eyes. His attention swept across the property with practiced precision.
"Movement confirmed," Marcus whispered after several long seconds. "Two guards outside the front entrance. One stationed behind the cabin. Thermal imaging shows another four heat signatures inside."
He lowered the goggles.
"They're relaxed. No signs they've detected us."
Alexander gave a slow nod.
"Good."
For several moments, neither man spoke.
The silence wasn't uncomfortable. It was calm before the storm.
Deep inside Alexander, his wolf stirred impatiently, sensing both the danger ahead and the justice that was about to be delivered. The powerful creature pushed against the edge of his control, eager to be unleashed.
Alexander closed his eyes for the briefest moment. Instead of focusing on the coming battle, his thoughts drifted to Maddie.
He pictured her smile. He remembered the warmth in her voice during their phone call earlier that day. He thought about the gentle way she spoke about their unborn child and how excited she was to return to school for her examinations. She was counting on him. She believed he would bring her home safely.
The bond they shared pulsed steadily through his chest, calm and reassuring despite the darkness surrounding him. That feeling anchored him.
Everything he was about to do. Every risk he was about to take… It was for her. For their child. For the future they deserved.
Alexander opened his eyes again, all hesitation gone.
His expression hardened into one of quiet determination.
"This ends tonight," he said, his voice low enough that only Marcus could hear.
Marcus met his gaze and gave a single nod.
"It will."
Alexander raised one hand.
The warriors immediately became alert, waiting for his command.
Using only silent hand signals, he divided them into three assault teams.
The Silver wolves would secure the rear of the property and prevent anyone from escaping.
Marcus would lead the second team toward the eastern side of the cabin.
Alexander would spearhead the main assault from the front.
Every warrior acknowledged the plan without speaking. Years of training made words unnecessary.
Alexander lowered his hand.
Move.
Like shadows slipping through the forest, the team descended the ridge. No unnecessary movement. Only the quiet crunch of boots against frozen earth and the occasional whisper of wind through the pines accompanied their advance. The cabin grew larger with every step. The scent of wood smoke drifted through the air.
Alexander's heightened senses detected something else.
Fear.
Even before entering, he could smell it lingering inside the cabin.
Whether Tamara and Lydia sensed danger approaching or were simply exhausted from weeks of hiding, he couldn't tell.
Either way, they would soon discover that running had only delayed the inevitable.
The first guard remained near the front steps, lazily scanning the darkness with his rifle hanging loosely across his chest.
He never realized anyone was behind him.
Alexander exploded into motion.
In one fluid movement, he shifted, his massive white wolf emerging with breathtaking speed before closing the distance in a heartbeat.
The guard had no opportunity to raise his weapon.
He collapsed almost instantly.
Across the clearing, Marcus eliminated the second guard with equal precision.
Near the rear entrance, one of Vincent's Silver wolves silently neutralized the final lookout before signaling that the perimeter was secure.
Marcus spoke quietly into the communication device clipped beneath his collar.
"Outside clear."
Alexander resumed his human form and looked toward the cabin.
His warriors were already in position. Every entrance was covered. Every possible escape route was blocked.
He looked once more toward the single illuminated window.
"Remember," he said quietly into the team's communication channel, "our objective is simple. Secure Tamara and Lydia alive. Sweep every room. Watch for hidden exits."
A chorus of quiet acknowledgments answered him.
Alexander took one final breath. Then he gave the signal.
The teams surged forward together, surrounding the cabin from three different directions as the operation began. The front door burst open as the three teams entered the cabin simultaneously.
The peaceful silence of the mountain retreat disappeared in an instant.
"Blackwood Security!" one of the warriors shouted. "Drop your weapons!"
Instead of surrendering, the guards reacted on instinct.
