How To Chase Away Flies

Chapter 35 - How To Chase Away Flies

"I think this dress will look great on you." Iris heard a soft voice. She looked at her side and see Elliot holding an exquisite looking paper bag.

Iris had been looking for a beautiful dress that she could wear for the reunion. Her former classmates all came from rich families and they would certainly say something if she attends the reunion with a normal dress. Besides, she wanted to look more beautiful than Tifanny and her friends. Iris wanted them to realize that even after several years, she would still be the undefeated campus queen despite their difference in social standings.

In fact, Iris was looking forward for this reunion. However, she was distracted by her rush wedding and sexy husband that she totally forgot about it. Thus, she already spent her whole morning planning for her attire and didn't pay attention to a certain someone who had been watching her sulking the whole time.

Iris blinked at the smiling Elliot before she reached out her hands to receive the bag.

"You bought me a dress?" Iris asked him as she opened the bag. She immediately gasped when she saw its content.

"Oh my goodness. What a lovely dress!" Iris exclaimed as she examined the dress. "Thank you, hubby!" She smiled at Elliot.

"It will look perfect on you." Elliot felt elations as he looked at his smiling wife. *I'ts a good thing that I hired that italian designer for Iris' wardrobe*, he happily thought.

Although he was feeling a little sad because she ignored him since morning, Elliot was still having a great day just gazing at his excited wife. However, he started feeling worried when it was getting late in the afternoon.

He was sitting on the bed while Iris was putting her makeup when Elliot asked, "My wife.. can I come with you?"

It was only a few hours before the reunion and Iris has yet to invite him to attend it with her!

Iris blinked and looked at Elliot from the mirror. Bringing her hubby in the reunion? She never thought of it before.

*Now that he mentioned it.. I think that people brings their spouses in reunions. Iris thought. But.. I kinda don't want Elliot to meet those terrible snobs! They might even think of snatching him away from me!*

Elliot bit his lower lip as he read through his wife's thoughts. *I must not let her attend alone. Who knows if there might be a lot of flies later!* He thought as he walked near Iris.

Elliot knelt in front of Iris as he held her hands. "I will be... a good boy." He pitifully asked her.

"I want to come with you.. please.." Elliot begged.

Iris blinked as her mind immediately thought of the x-rated second meaning of his words before she unconsciously nodded.

.......

It had been years since the former classmates met so everyone was having fun.

The private booth that they rented was surprisingly crowded as many brought their partners with them. Loud teasing and laughter could be heard even from afar.

"Iris is still not here?" Tifanny impatiently asked. She had been looking forward to Iris' arrival. Clearly, she wanted to flaunt to her how noticeable the difference in their status is now that they both entered the society.

"I'm here. Sorry for being late, everyone." A soft voice was suddenly heard.

Everyone looked at the source of the voice and saw a very beautiful woman. Her brown hair was long and wavy. Her eyes sparkled even in the dim light and her lips were slightly painted red. She was exquisitely dressed and her elegance was shining all out.

Iris might be a pretty girl before. But now, she looked like a flower in full bloom.

Everyone suddenly became silent at her arrival. That was until they saw a strong arm wrapping on her waist from behind and pulling the beautiful woman in his embrace.

"We apologized for being late. There were some business we had to attend to." A magnetic voice said and audible gasps were heard.

Behind Iris stood a captivating, magnetic, tall man that commanded everyone's attention and admiration by just standing there.

Liam sighed. He thought that Iris' husband looked exceptionally good because it was his wedding. He never imagined that the man would look that good even during a normal get together. Liam swept his gaze until it fell on Iris' face. The girl just.. kept on looking better and better every time he saw her. He felt a small throb on his chest.

Still, no one greeted the couple. Thus, Liam stood and decided to welcome them.

"Iris.. Mr. Cox.. Hello!" He smiled as he stepped forward to give Iris a small hug.

However, his hand which was about to reach Iris was held by another strong hand and shook it.

"Nice to see you here, Iris' cousin." Elliot told him. Liam winced a little because of the force that Elliot used to shake his hand.

"Ah. Micka and me are not married.. yet." Liam awkwardly scratched his head. He didn't know why, but he felt that the man knew about his little crush to Iris.

"You will be married sooner than later." Elliot replied. Those were ordinary good words but they felt like threat when coming from Elliot's mouth.

"Liam, it's good to see you here!" Thankfully, Iris innocently interjected.

"Iris.. wow! You look beautiful! Is that your hubby?" A former classmate asked. The interaction between Elliot and Liam woke the others up from their thoughts.

"Yes. Allie, it's nice to see you." Iris smiled at the kind woman. She was their former class monitor that always tried her best to take care of everyone.

"This.. I will ask the staff for an additional chair." Allie embarrassingly laughed as she tried to keep her eyes on Iris. "I underestimated the number of our classmates who would bring companions so we are lacking one chair." She added.

Elliot looked around Iris' former classmates and furrowed his brows when he noticed that a lot of them seemed to be having thoughts for his Iris. Then, he looked at the only chair available before he said, "There is no need for an additional chair." Elliot smiled before he took pulled Iris to the remaining chair.

Then, he sat on it.

Iris blinked when she saw her husband sit. Eh, *I should ask the staff for another chair.* She thought. *Then, on the way I should also ask them for their famous roasted cauliflowers and beer. I heard from Shayne that they are irresistibly good. *

Iris was still lost in her thoughts when she felt a tug and her body fell into Elliot's lap.

"You are thinking about food, aren't you?" She heard a low whisper on her ears.

"Ah? How did you know?" Iris surprisingly asked.

"It's my job to know my wife well." Elliot grinned at her. Then, he took a white handkerchief from his pocket, unfolded it, and placed it on top of Iris' lap. That way, her thighs and knees were perfectly covered.

Iris' blinked and then realized that she was sitting on Elliot's lap. She looked around and saw the astonished look on her former classmates' faces. Thus, she bit her lip and awkwardly laugh.

*It should be okay, right? We are married.. and we are in a bar.* Iris went to bars before and noticed that people would sometimes sit on their partner's lap.

However, she failed to realize the effect of their public display of affection to some.

Precisely, Liam felt another discomfort in his chest.

Oscar, on the other hand, painfully looked away as he felt his heart crushed.

Another classmate whistled as he looked at the smoking hot pair.

Tifanny held her wine glass tighter as she shot an envious look at Iris.

Still, she managed to smile in the end. "I heard that you were married, Iris. Now I see it's true!" Tifanny's croaky voice was heard by everyone.

"Ah.. yes." Iris smiled as she gave Tifanny a sincere smile while thinking, *This girl never changed. Her voice still gives me headache.*

Others noticed the hostility in Tifanny's voice and tried to ease up the mood.

"Where did you two meet?" Someone asked.

Iris gave a shy smile before saying, "I met him on the seaside." Her cheeks were red and it looked very captivating. "We somehow gotten together." She added as her cheeks were getting more red. "Then.. it turns out we work at the same company." She chuckled.

Oscar tightened his brows. His heart almost couldn't take this sweet image of his beloved woman being inlove. Unfortunately, the one that she loved was not him.

"How can there be such a coincidence?" His mouth spoke before he could stop himself.

This time, a manly chuckle was heard.

The corner of Elliot's lips titled as he displayed an utterly grand and confident look on his face.

"Of course. Those 'coincidences' are the results of me manning up and chasing *my wife*." He proudly declared.
