Chapter 76
*LUNA*
Before I could react, I became fully aware of the warriors behind us and that was enough for me to relax and step back. Kayden was acting strangely, first he apologize to me and now? He tricked me into claiming him fully aware that I had swore not to do it or is my imagination playing tricks on me.
"The pack is in your hands right now Damon, I don't know how long I'll be gone but it's up to you to handle things" I heard Kayden said to u him before getting on his horse, everyone did that except me who has a hard time getting on the horse.
Damon stepped towards me and then gave me a hand, I flushed muttering a thank you under my breath. Completely ignoring Kayden, I trailed after the warrior while praying that Rebekah was fine. Scarlet had mentioned that she was kidnapped because the councils wanted me, I wondered if I should tell Kayden we might be walking into an open trap but again Kayden isn't the type to meet up with the councils without any back up plan.
For the reminder if the journey we ride in silence until we reached the familiar border of my pack which brought unpleasant memories back. I also followed suit ad everyone got down from the horse, I distance myself from them, giving him the privacy to have a word with his warriors.
"How do we get in? Don't tell me the gate because we would no doubt be working into a trap...." I trailed off as I catch sight of Miranda working towards us and two other members of the councils.
Kayden pushed me behind him, growling at the approaching councils, Miranda stopped eyeing us up and down. "Where are they?" He snarled breaking the silence.
"Who are we talking about Alpha Kayden?" Miranda chuckled. "Oh you mean your Gamma and his mate? We came here for the negotiations" Her words made me frown because I had no idea what she was talking about. Did Kayden make a deal with her?
"You haven't told me what you want" Kayden replied In his dangerously calm tone.
"I want our property, you have something that belong to the councils. The slaves" Her eyes met mine as I steppes beside Kayden. "I'm sure your servant already told you we want you not your fat little friend" Miranda said speaking directly to me, As Kayden stepped forward, the warriors prepared to fire.
"I will advice you not to do that" The council standing by Miranda right said, speaking up for the first time. "If you want to see your Gamma again, you must listen to us"
"I don't take orders from any of of you, you want war? Then you shall have it, release my Gamma and his mate"
"Did you not think we know what you did to an up coming member of the councils? Your men raped her half to death and you killed her mate? Surely there will be war but first we want Luna back, she is not only the councils property but she is my niece. The daughter of Tiara, one of the mistress your Alpha killed because he is bored with her" I couldn't tell if the fact that I was Miranda's niece that shocked Kayden or the fact that he might probably know who my mother want, regardless I couldn't care less.
"You want me right? Then let them go, I will come with you" I declared coursing Kayden to growled at me angrily. He pulled me back so I had no choice than to look at him.
"What the fuck? You come with me to hand yourself over to them?" He snapped at me.
"This might be the only way we could get Darren and Rebekah back. I have no purpose in life but Rebekah does so I'll do anything to save her" I told him giving up the attempt to snatch my hand back from him.
"Who could have thought that Alpha Kayden will care for anyone beside himself especially the slave he once loathed. Too bad she doesn't seems to feel the same way because she signed a contract to help the council kill you in exchange for her freedom" I could feel my heart sink at the bottom of my stomach after Miranda said that.
Fear paralyzed me for several seconds and I had no idea what to say. However Kayden doesn't seem to be concerned by what she just said. "It is apparent you have chosen war" Kayden hissed grabbing me by the arm, with the councils looking on he started dragging me in the direction we had came from. A risk a look over my shoulder in time to see Miranda smirking at us. She did this on purpose!
"Kayden, please listen to me" My voice wobbled once we were in a long distance from the rest, I was scared for my life. He stopped abruptly letting me go and when I looked at him, I notice his eyes had changed to red and the spot I had marked him earlier had started to bleed out the more meaning his body was rejecting my claim because of my betrayal, tears roll down myself cause I had no idea how to explain myself.
"What should I listen to? The fact that you conspired with my enemy to end me? Is that how deep your hatred for me run? Then why the fuck did you sink your disgusting fangs into me?" He growled at me.
"I have no excuse for what I did but I decided not to go through with it. I burned the contract and that was before you even claimed me. All I wanted us freedom and I saw a chance I could get it...I..decided to go for it...but..." I trailed off as I felt my throat starting to close up and my eyes widened as I started to feel an unfamiliar pain spreading over my body. I fought back trying to explain myself to Kayden.
Few minutes into the pain I realized what was happening to me, I cried out falling into my feet, Kayden on the other hand stood there staring at me with such coldness. He was thinking about rejecting me!.
"Please don't" I begged him right before I passed out from the pain. I didn't want to wake up anymore because I knew if I do, I'd have to face the possibly of Kayden rejecting me forever.
