Chapter 80 Betrayed

Chapter 80 Betrayed
~BRYAN~

I had quickly come to realize just how magnificent karma worked. It never worked for me, always against me.

The memory flashed in my head as I remembered her, cuddled In my arms that night, our bodies tangled from the night of passion we just shared, heartbeats mingling.

" I can't wait to have mini us running around the foyer." I remember saying.

What I also remember was how her face instantly scrunched up, pulling away from me as she hummed.

"Is that too much to ask for? "

" Yes it is. Look Bryan, I already told you how much I hate kids. The thought of them makes me sick in fact. I can't stand that dream of yours"

I know that her words had cut through me like knife on butter as I buried my hurt, flashing her a small smile.

" We won't have babies if you don't want babies" I had said, letting the rest of the question fade into oblivion.

" And...are you even listening to me?" Nadia called, jolting me out of my little trip down memory lane.

I hummed, staring at her.

" I am listening to you. " I said simply, dropping the ball pen that I had been fiddling with since she came in.

She eyed me suspiciously but said nothing.

" Well you see I told you that dating Leon will come with more perks. She told him she was pregnant just so he could get married to her, and she has no idea that he is actually infertile.

That is such a great way to reveal the secret when she is about to get married to him"

I shook my head, stopping her thoughts in her tracks.

" If we reveal it on her wedding day, she will know you have a hand in it because you already threatened her with it. I have a better idea instead"

Her brows furrowed, her eyes dragging slowly to my hands as I picked up my car keys.

" I don't like the sound of this" she stated.

" It's simple. If she gets married, you will have your connection to Leon limited and if your connection to Leon is limited, you have limited source of information too. So the best thing to do, is make sure the wedding never holds in the first place."

By the time I got to her office, it was mid noon. The sun was already pushing through the heated clouds and I could feel ithe heat getting to me quickly as I stepped into the fully conditioned atmosphere, moving towards where I knew she would be.

Behind her desk, like his loyal dog.

She sat up almost immediately when she saw me, her face breaking into a smile like I was the last person she had expected.

" Did you miss me or something? I did not expect you to come now"

There was something off about her. Her behavior was shifty, her eyes darting to her closet and back like I had just walked in on her commiting her offense.

" What do you want?!" She yelled again, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

I shook off the unsettling thoughts, focusing instead on the mission at hand.

" I heard you are pregnant. That is a good thing. Who is the father?"

Her hands subconsciously rubbed her stomach, eyes glued on the table before she raised them too stare at me brazenly.

" Oh yes, I did. I'm so sorry if it comes as a surprise to you though, I understand that you wanted a child with me so much".

I shurgged, noting the sarcasm.

" I just wanted to ask who the father is?"

" Leon of course" her voice was raised a notch, defensive.

I smiled.

" But Leon cannot birth a child. Akira told me this before she died. She made it known that he would never be able to father her child and that is the only reason she stayed happy".

Her jaw dropped, my heart sank. I hated that I had to lie with the name of Akira, but this was the only way.

" That is a lie, he is the father of my child".

I leaned into the table, eyes glinting now, knowing I had her cornered.

" I know you are not pregnant. You can't fool me. Perhaps I should bring the evidence to the wedding don't you think? It will be a nice little surprise too".

Her face paled and I could almost hear her heavy breathing from where I sat across the table.

" What the hell do you want??"

I hummed.

" Call off the wedding right now. That is all you have to do"

" You are so fucking delusional if you think that.." she was beginning to say but I got up, adjusting my coat to leave.

" Wait! Wait....don't tell leon. I will call off the wedding just don't tell him. Please..."

I shurgged.

" It's good to see we have come to a conclusion"

I was just about the leave when I caught a sight of the shoe that stuck out of the cabinet like a sore thumb. Well polished red shoes that I knew all too well, disappearing underneath the cabinet.

" What the hell are you waiting for? You can leave now" she said, her eyes trailing mine to the cabinet.

No.

I walked over to the cabinet, ignoring her screams that I should leave and her feeble attempt to keep me from the cabinet, but it was not enough.

I pulled the door open to see him there, crouched and eyes meeting mine in betrayal.

Vincent. He was with Stella before I came in and rushed into the cabinet when I walked In

That was why she looked so flustered. She was hiding him.

" Bryan I promise you it's not..."

I shook my head in anger.

Vincent, the man I trusted with all my secrets was having an affair with the one woman I had made it my life mission to destroy.

He betrayed me.
