Chapter 21 A near death experience
BRYAN
Words alone could not express the anger I felt as I stared at the bloodied paper, eyes flashing.
Akira stood a few feet away, her own eyes stunned as she took in the sight.
Jeremy was the first to snap out of it, clearing his throat.
" How about I have someone escort you to the department you will be working for Miss Akira?"
But she was not listening to him, her eyes met mine and I knew we had the same thought in mind.
" Do you think it's..."
" No. Stella would never be this bold and Leon is more stupid than he looks. He can't pull off something like this. Jeremy will escort you out and you can be rest assured, I will get the bottom of this".
Her eyes flickered unsurely as she watched me maintain my stoic expression even though I was boiling inside.
I hated that I could see her uncertain face, unsure as she walked away.
I kept pacing the length of the office until Jeremy came back the bloodied box still seating on my table.
" Sir she has settled down now. Do you think this is the work of the Mafia?" He asked.
I toyed with my tie.
" I want a meeting with Vincent immediately."
Jeremy groaned.
" Well sir the last meeting with mr Vincent did not go too well so maybe we should consider..."
" I said, get me a goddamn meeting with him right now!"
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration.
Whoever was bold enough to do this have no idea who they are messing with, I will make sure to bury them so far down they would have a hard time ever getting up.
Just like me, Vincent was not happy to see me.
We both sat at the strange coffee shop, his men flanking both sides as he took a sip of his back coffee.
" I never thought I would get a call from you again. Especially after what happened between us"
I hummed, taking another swig of my coffee.
" Someone is messing with me and I think it's the Mafia"
He chuckled.
" I don't have anything against you and you know that. And you have been so secretive about you being the leader of the Romania Mafia, I am sure that no one knows about it. So why would anyone mafia clan want to attack you?"
I pulled out the letter in my pocket, thrusting it to him to go through it.
He grimaced.
" This is definitely mafia work. This is the traditional signal of war the Mafia sends when they declare war on another clan."
I folded my arms, leaning into my chair as I looked at him wanting to see if he would crack under my gaze.
But he didn't.
" The clan has been asking of you don. They want to know when you would come back to take your place"
I sighed internally as the image of Stella and I flashed in my head.
The woman I gave everything up for.
" I will be coming back soon enough, but I still have something here that has to be finished and when I'm done with that, I will take over again".
Vincent nodded, staring down at his coffee that now looked cold.
" I will call the other clans to find out about this paper. It seems like it was custom made. Maybe by the French Mafia or the German Mafia. But I will get back to you and then we can figure this out".
I nodded, my mind railing with thoughts of how Akira would fare until I could catch whoever sent this.
She was so stubborn, I could not get her to stay in place and she would just end up getting herself killed.
But there was something about Vincent that tipped me off. He knew something.
" Who did you piss off now Vincent? I know there is something happening that you are not telling me"
He adjusted his seat, clearing his throat again, a sign of nervousness that I had now acquainted to him.
" Nothing happened I promise you don. Ever since you left me in charge to start the company, I had made sure we did not have any rivalries with smaller clans. "
" I want you to find out whoever sent this message, and don't kill them yet. Bring them to me. You have one week"
He opened his mouth to say something as I stood up to leave, closing it again as though deciding against it.
" What do you have to say?"
" Stella....is she fine? I heard you both of not been together again but I just want to know"
My jaw clenched as I remembered everything that happened between Stella and I.
I looked at Vincent, now feeling like a foreigner to me. Who would have thought that we both grew up together, training and being best of friends. Until Stella happened.
" Stella deserves to die. I know you still love her, but for old times sake, I will tell you. I have plans to destroy her in more ways than one"
I did not wait for him to talk again, walking out of the coffee shop as the guards bowed, opening the door for me.
I was just about to open my car door when a voice yelled at me to stop.
I turned around perplexed, to see a man dressed in rags begging me to step away from the vehicle.
I furrowed my eyebrows, walking over to where he was to ask what the problem was.
" The car! I saw a man slip something into it!" He was ranting over and over until it sounded like a fable.
Wait what?
Before I could get over my confusion, a loud bang sounded, car parts shattering and falling like rain.
I turned around to look sharply only to see my car in flames. Someone has rigged my car with a bomb.
