Chapter 108 Russian roulette
Chapter 108 Russian roulette
~LILLIAN ~
" I don't think we should make rash decisions really. We can all sit down and talk about this. We are family right? You said we are family?"
His eyes seemed to glower in that dimly lit room the minute those words fell out of my mouth.
He sighed.
" Finally, this is more like it. A little fear. I was beginning to think killing you would be no fun. But finally, you are scared. I will make the game go on quickly don't worry. How about, I ask you a few trivial questions to get to family bond with my precious sister don't you think?"
This man was a psycho.
" I am not really down for the idea" I said, hiding my nervousness with a chuckle that came out like a croak.
" Thankfully your opinion was not asked."
I watched him cock the gun, aiming it directly at my skull as he stared at me.
" When was the last time you had to starve because your mum was too sick to get something for you to eat as a child?"
A cold sweat ran down my spine.
" Um...no time?" I asked.
He chuckled.
" Exactly"
He pulled the trigger and I felt my soul leap off the chair, waiting for the impact of the bullet and the life leaving my body but it didn't come. Instead the gun made a clicking sound. The chamber was empty.
I took a breath of relief, my eyes wandering to his face as he smirked.
I knew he was enjoying this a little too much. I hated that I was his source of entertainment but the fear did not let my mouth move.
He turned the gun to the roof and fired. Blank too.
That was how his twisted game went. Him asking me questions to prove that I was indeed sheltered by our father and then pulling the trigger, making my chest fly each time the gun pointed at me.
But Everytime, it filled back empty.
Finally, he pointed it to the roof and the loud bang echoed, dust and ceiling roofings falling into the room as the bullet shattered the roof.
The tightening in my chest finally eased as I realized that signalled the end to the game. Luck was indeed on my side.
" Well I hate when life does not give me what I want. But it's okay. I'm sure I can find other methods to torture you before you die"
" Well, at least let me eat McDonald's one last time. I could not stop thinking about their fries"
His eyes thinned and for a minute, I thought he was going to pull out his gun and end my life for real. But he didn't.
Instead, he turned to look at Leon, gently nudging towards me.
" Don't let her get anything to eat. No water, no food. And keep an eye on her."
I scoffed.
" I always knew you were a dog but you being a loyal dog seems a bit too confusing for me. It suits you anyways. Bowing like the wimp you are."
He walked over to me, slow, and in an instant, I felt his hands come down heavily on my cheeks until the only thing I could hear was the incessant ringing.
He smirked.
"Don't forget that you are at my mercy now. For your own good, I would advise that you think calmly about your words before you let them out. Fucking whore"
The minute the door closed behind him, the fear that had me paralyzed suddenly turned into vigour.
I tried to wiggle my way out of the ropes but the knots were tied too hard together, preventing whatever friction that could loosen them.
" Dont waste your strength with that. It's a German knot. Even the strongest can't loosen that without help" a voice came from behind me, inside that darkness I could not see into, sickly.
I froze first, trying to arch my neck to stare into the darkness, but the man did not let me guess further.
He crawled out of it and the sight before me made my blood run cold.
He was still alive, but at what cost? The skin on his body has become so tightly close to his skeletal frame, he looked like a walking skeleton but somehow, he still managed a dry chuckle.
" Don't look at me like that. I give you two weeks without food and you will look just like me. The master takes pleasure from starving people to death. His cruelest punishment he would say"
Every word he spoke was slow and unhurried. Like he was scared if he talked too fast, he might end up dying on the spot.
" Who the hell are you?"I managed to breath out after the shock of his being calmed down.
" A business associate of his. He had me locked in here when I could not pay the debt I owe him."
The ropes scratched angrily at my wrists, reminding me of my predicament.
" The vent up here leads to the road side. You can crawl through it and get out without being spotted. If you are lucky anyways"
I stared up. He was right. The rusty vents seemed able to collapse with the right amount of pressure any time soon, but it was a good gamble.
" Can you get me out of the ropes?" I asked, pleading with my eyes.
He shurgged.
" I have lost the will to live. Might as well help"
He could not get up, his hands were so bong and frail when he tried to drag the ropes and we spent minutes, trying to untie it because he was too weak to even lift a limb.
His rugged breathing came with every tug and pull that we did and finally, the ropes snapped, setting me free.
I stared at the vents.
Did I have enough luck to escape?
