Chapter 100 Victory at last

Chapter 100 Victory at last
AKIRA

Celebrations followed after wards. Not the quiet ones I was used to. This was loud and jovial and I could feel the alcohol mingling with the air as I giggled.

For the first time in a long time, I finally felt...free.

" Let's watch him try and talk his way out with this one" Narim said, raising his cup higher before bringing it down for another shot of whiskey.

I sighed. This was it. I was slowly having everything I wanted.

Bryan's arms wrapped around me as he laid a kiss on my chin.

" You did so good baby. All the news outlets are finally singing your praises for standing up to the murderer. It will be very hard for him to talk his way out of this one. After the court hearing on Wednesday, this will be all over."

I smiled, leaning into the kiss, the world, for a minute, feeling peaceful.

I watched narim's expression change almost immediately as he got up, muttering something about needing a refill before he walked out of the room.

The subtle sense of unease filled me as I gently pulled away from Bryan.

" I should go check up on him. He has been acting really weird lately" I said.

He was in the kitchen, hunched over the kitchen sink as the cold water ran down his hands. I stared at the sink, the flowing blood hitting me first.

" Oh my God what happened to your hands?!"

He pulled away from me like my touch burned him, his gait...different.

" I broke the a glass cup and got cut up..nothing big about it".

I paused.

" Did I do something wrong to you? I can't shake off the attitude you have been giving off for a while now".

He scoffed, turning off the kitchen tap and turning to look at me before grabbing the bottle of wine off the counter.

" I don't know ....did you?"

" Don't do that. If I did something wrong you can always say it and you know that".

" Well I don't know, all of a sudden you have a boyfriend and all of a sudden you both can't keep your tongues in your mouths"

I furrowed my eyes brows.

" Wait what? This is about Bryan? You barely know him so what's there to hate"

" I hate that he touches you! I hate that he can do all these things for you and I hate that even if I told you I liked you, you will always be wrapped around his little finger"

His outburst stunned me, keeping me in place for the first few seconds as I watched him nod his head in self pity, sighing.

" Well there is nothing much I can do anyways. You should go enjoy your relationship with Mr. Perfect. I will see you at court."

I watched him walk out of the kitchen, my heart still racing at the confrontation.

Narim likes...me?

~~

I could feel it in the air when I stepped out of the car. The blind feeling that everything was going to be right today.

The camera lights seemed to grow with each steps I took into the court room.

" Miss Akira just one word please! What do you expect from today's court meeting?"

Bryan's arms stayed wrapped around me, leading me through the majority of crowd that only grew thicker with each second.

I could feel my heart pounding in my chest when he stepped in, eyes cold as he stared at me, that sadistic smile blooming on his face.

I could see Stella sitting at the far right of the court, her hands clasped together as though in a plea as she stared at the judge.

" So we will start with the proceedings of today's case, as tailored against Mr Leon"

The evidences were there, all I had to do was stand up as a witness.

My legs shook slightly in the witness box, more out of adrenaline than nervousness.

" Everyone knows that you always has a problem with Mr Leon after you both separated. If you knew he killed your father why did you wait until you separated to tell the world?"

" I only found out about it when we divorced" I said simply.

His lawyer adjusted his coat.

" At the time you claimed that my client was on a call with you, threatening to kill you before you faked your death, he has a witness that explicitly states that he was with her during this time"

The witness was Stella. Her eyes scanned around as she hastily recited the script provided to her.

She was with him and they were eating pies for dinner. He never left the house neither did he make any phone calls.

The court flew into outrage almost immediately.

" It's obvious the bitch is lying to save her husband! She should be arrested too!" Someone yelled from the back, followed by a lot of overzealous screams that somehow, seemed to ricochet through the walls.

" Order in the court!!"

As I walked back to my seat, my anxiety piqued. What if they had bribed the judge? This should be an open and shut case with the evidence provided but if they bribed the judge...

" I will now state my final verdict" the judge said, drawing silence from every corner of the room almost immediately.

I watched him with held breaths, his eyes scanning the papers as he hummed.

" The evidences provided is more than enough to counter the witnesses of mr Leon and his defending lawyer and so with this in mind, I hereby declare Mr Leon sentenced to 60 years in prison for the murder of Mr Silvio and attempted murder of his now divorced wife, miss Akira without the possibility of a parole"

My ears seemed to ring, unable to process the information and finally it dawned on me. We had won.
