Piss and toxicity

Piss and toxicity

Raven’s POV

The stench of piss and toxicity gets thicker the deeper we go into the prison hall.
Saviour saunters ahead of me, nodding to something Victor whispers to him.
“You okay?”
I turn at Aul's voice, giving a silent nod.
“Alright, so you're not okay.” He mutters, causing my jaw to tighten.

“I just gave you a nod.” I say flatly, a little annoyed that he misinterpreted my response.
“Yes, I saw. But you look so furious only an idiot would actually believe you are fine.”

Chains click in the well-lit path. And my steps automatically slow down once we get to the cell.
My frown deepens as my heart begins to pound, my palms suddenly sweaty.

“You've got this, Raven. If it gets too much, you just need to say so.” Aul says, watching me closely.

“I know,” I whisper softly. “Thank you,”

“Disgusting animals!” I hear him spit out before I see him.
And then, there he is. The man I once called father.

He’s on his feet, held bound by heavy chains, the side of his head stained with dried blood, his bloodshot eyes glaring at Saviour.
My throat turns bitter when I notice how gray and messy his hair looks… like he hasn't had a shave in ages.

Also he seems to have aged faster than most men his age.
His eyes fall on me and then he smirks but it quickly changes into a loud laugh.

I watch, saying nothing as he continues to laugh.

The walls around my stomach clench.
I don’t know what to feel. Hate? Pain? Fear? This man raised me. Lied to me. Killed my mother. And now he’s here, chained like the monster he is.

But I don't feel glad.

No, there's not even a bit of happiness in my heart.

Saviour steps in front of me, his presence commanding. “Your end depends on how well you cooperate.” He starts, his deep powerful voice shutting off the rotten husk.

Pa pulls on the chains keeping his hands locked together as Victor opens the cell.

“Why did you come for my son?” Saviour demands as we all stride in, our gazes hard.

The old man chuckles, before spitting blood on the floor. “You should thank me.” He says, his eyes drifting to me.

Saviour’s eyes narrow. “Thank you?”

He nods, still grinning. “If I hadn't kept this one alive, she wouldn't be here for you to breed like the animal she is.” He spits out, venom thick in his words.

Rage surges within me, my hands tightening into fists as I hold his gaze.

“I trained you,” he spits, losing his smile. “Fed you, raised you. I gave you a family. I gave you shelter! But what did you do?” He barks, glaring death at me.

Saviour steps forward but I hold his arm, making him stay back. No one will fight this for me.

“You wretched little bitch! You threw it all away just so you can have some wolf dic…”

I don't let him finish before ramming my fist into his jaw so hard his head slams into the wall.
Blood flies from his mouth.

“You bloody bastard, you deserve to die!” I snarl.

He groans, coughing as he tries to remain on his feet. “That’s right…” he chokes out. “Hit me, Raven. Show us the animal you truly are.”

I can hear murmuring from other hunters in the nearby cells but I pay them no mind as pain mixes with the hunger for revenge in me, making me feel like my chest is about to explode.

I grab him by the chain around his neck, yanking him forward like he weighs nothing.
With just enough force, I throw him, satisfied when his body slams into the bars, causing a loud echo. The hunters in the next cells gasp.

“You don’t get to speak to me like that anymore!” I roar, slamming his face into the bars again.
A cry escapes him as he struggles to shield himself.
“You killed my mother! Because of you I lost everything!” The metal rings again as I slam his head into it.

He mumbles incoherent words, blood gushing from his shattered nose.

My hands shake with fury, but my heart aches to see him bleed.

I pull him by his hair, dragging him across the floor like dirt, unbothered by the blood left in his trail.

“Someone stop her!” He screams, his voice echoing through the hall.

“You lied to me my whole life!” I roar, pulling him and flinging him against the wall. He groans, whimpering as he tries but fails to cradle his head.

“Is that all you've got?” He roars, blood pouring from his nose. “Come on, kill me. Proof to all these hunters just how vile you all are. Give them more reason to kill your kind on sight!” He screams. “I was merciful to you. I took you as my child.”

“You made me believe I was yours! You made me fight against my people. You turned me into a weapon to do with as you pleased, tearing me out of my mother's womb. You call that mercy?!” I shout, my breathing heavy.

He tries to laugh again, choking on his own blood. “And you… I used to be scared. Thought you'd kill me in my sleep. My late wife…. She truly loved you. You know why? You were so darn easy to shape…”

I stomp down hard on his chest, forcing a loud cry from his lungs. His bone cracks under my foot at the second kick.

“Raven,” I faintly hear Saviour's worried voice but I don't stop as tears blur my vision, hot like acid.
I can hardly see my target through the flood of tears pouring down my face… but I know exactly where he is.
I pull at the chain around his neck, watching his eyes widen in fear when I press it hard against his flesh, choking him.

“Raven stop…” Saviour calls loudly but I don't care… I don't stop… I want the bastard dead!
Just like he ripped me away from my family, I want to rip his life out.

Strong familiar hands grab me from behind.

“NO!” I scream as Saviour pulls me back, caging my trembling body in an embrace, wrapping his arms firmly around me, dragging me away from the cell.

“Please, Raven,” Saviour says, holding on tighter.
My chest heaves as a sob breaks from me. My fists are stained red, my heart burning with fury.
